A fantastic family holiday

We have just had a lovely week on this working farm. Access and welcome were great. The owners were very friendly and welcoming to us all (including 3 chatty inquisitive children!) There is lots of space for playing and plenty to explore. The fishing was very accessible and our 5 year old caught plenty to keep his interest for hours. All the children enjoyed the company of calves, lambs and 2 very entertaining dogs!  The swimming pool was a great bonus, a great way to burn off the kids energy - we couldn't believe how nice the pool area was on a site for £10 a night! There is so much in easy reach, lovely walks, ponies, shops, pubs (also plenty of larger attractions if that's your thing!) All in all it's a great place to go for cheap family fun, very friendly and quiet, you can choose to keep yourself to yourself or learn lots about a working farm!- Put on your wellies and have fun!

Great Peaceful Break

Just returned from a weeks holiday here, lovely break, quiet, friendly site. Enjoyed the surroundings, great views. The pool is lovely, just what you need on a hot day. Fishing good. Would recommend this site for a quiet, relaxing break.

An Enjoyable Stay

We spent three nights at the end of June in very fine and dry weather. The track approach is not unusual for a farm site but take a torch if walking to the pub at night. Access is through the farmyard and the hook-up posts show where the site is. There is a notice board in the farmyard with additional information. True, the approach to the chemical closet point is scruffy - it is a working farm after all - but we were lucky with the dry weather. The site is a good touring location and is grass with plenty of room and siting is subject to the length of your hook-up cable! There were two shorn sheep on site, which were used to people, and we have yet to see one that is housetrained, so choose your pitch carefully. Success of your stay probably depends on the weather but we certainly had a splendid break and the swimming pool is quite a bonus. By the way, the nearby pub was good (with an excellent live blues band on Friday for grown-ups) and there is a well-stocked general store not too far away. The New Forest is across the main road, so consider taking your bicycle.  Paul and Sylvia Siggers

Should have been warned

Really was too wet, when we visited October. The pot holed, muddy lane leading into an even muddier farm yard, we were put in a soggy field very recently vacated by sheep,it took me an hour to clear sheep poo in the immediate vicinity of the van (to prevent us walking it in). I had to walk through 2/3"mud to get to the chemical disposal which was at the far side of the back cow shed and I had to search for it, when I asked the lady owner, I was pointed in the direction "over there between the barns, there is a sign", Well I didn't see one. We would normally venture to the local, but didn't want to navigate the mud in the dark! Needed wellies at all times. Just across the busy road is the New forest, and a small indoor swimming pool on site.

What a shame, great location but would'nt return.

Arriving here you drive down a very rough and potholed drive ending up in a very muddy and cow manure filled yard. You definitely need wellies at all times as the chemical waste drain is at the back of the cow sheds. There are 2 fields to choose from but both had stored caravans, commercial vehicles and various farm implements parked in them. Our field had also been recently used for sheep, which would not usually be a problem as we would have brought a waterproof ( and sheep poo proof! ) groundsheet with us. We joined CC in 1981 and have only ever used CL sites and almost always farm sites so we know what to expect , but this site is right down at the bottom of our list and we wouldn't return unless it was cleaned up a bit. Having said that, the site is in a good location on the northern edge of The New Forest with a great pub, The Shoe Inn, within walking distance.
