Great little CL

One of the best CL’s we have stayed at. The owner Mrs Hicks was lovely to deal with, booking and arrival was straightforward and popped round early evening on the first day to check we were ok. Not intrusive at all which is what we like. The site is a nice field set between a field and Uppingham school playing fields. It is close to a road so you do get some road noise, but no issue for us. There are walks from the site and if you use your car whilst plenty of attractions close by. But you don’t need to venture far as Uppingham itself is a charming market town, full of independent shops and plenty of places to eat and drink. We will definitely visit again when in the area.

Outstanding

This was our second visit to Rectory Farm Site within a month. We were simply delighted with the site the first time and equally happy this time. Mrs Hicks is very welcoming and helpful. The site itself is surrounded by farmland with the farm cows visiting us (on the other side of the fence) both mornings. It is a small peaceful site with 5 x Grass Pitches and a beautiful view across a small valley of grassland and woods. Basic fresh water and chemical waste services are available just a few meters away from the pitches. The local town, Uppingham is a lovely 15 minute walk and features a large residential school, busy High Street and small, picturesque Town Square (Market Place on Friday). There are ample Locally run Shops, Cafes, Restaurants and Bars. We’ll be back!!

A gem of a site in a lovely location

A super site located on the outskirts of Uppingham adjacent to the playing fields of Uppingham School. Overlooking a dry valley, with super facilities well maintained, the welcome from Mr and Mrs Hicks was friendly and very helpful, without being overbearing. For walking, Rutland is difficult to beat - a treasure of a county often overlooked by those anxious to get to the better-known locations. Good walks direct from the site. We will return!

Super site!

Well maintained, level site with views over open countryside. The owners are friendly and helpful, checking everything was ok for us pretty much as soon as we arrived. The site is conveniently located for Uppingham itself and for other areas of interest. We had lovely days out at Rutland Water and in Stamford. A site we would defintely return to.

A perfect spot for exploring this area

Had booked this site prior to the 'great pause - known otherwise as the lockdown' so had to cancel but managed to rebook for the beginning of September. Initially, site was full on the Sunday night so we booked until that morning but part way through the week, Alison kindly contacted us to say she had a cancellation meaning we could stay the extra 2 nights we originally asked for to make a full week. The site is a good sized well kept field overlooking a small valley, which had sheep and cows roaming freely while we were there. This is an ideal spot from which to visit the nearby towns of Oakham and Stamford as well as Rutland water with its many walks and water based entertainment. We also visited Rockingham castle and Burghley House, both are excellent places to while away a few hours. Uppingham is a bustling town a short walk from the site and has most of the shops one needs as well as a selection of takeaways, cafes, pubs and restaurants. (We enjoyed an excellent chinese takeaway one evening). Alison is an excellent source of information about the local area. We had a lovely time on this site and can thoroughly recommend it . Thank you Mr & Mrs Hicks for making us feel so welcome and making our stay so enjoyable.

Perfect Spot

This site ticks all the boxes. Level pitch, good facilities, friendly and helpful owners. There are views onto adjacent fields with sheep and cows. There is a main road into Uppingham close by. It’s a short walk into a delightful market town.

Pleasant site

Stopped at this site as it was convenient for Stretton Kart Circuit, where we had a Cyclekart gathering. It is a pleasant site within walking distance of the town, and with good access to places of interest, we'll be back no doubt.

Exceeded expectations

We just wanted a short break so that we could call on a friend in Market Harborough so booked last minute. What a delightful spot. We parked overlooking a beautiful small valley so could watch the wildlife as well as the farm animals. The site is walking distance from Uppingham so we enjoyed their Heritage trail followed by a country walk and lunch in the brasseries in the Market Square. Rutland Water is not far away but busy whereas there are numerous walks from the many pretty surrounding villages. Lyveden New Bield, a NT property, is well worth a visit and again you can walk from there and see Red Kites overhead. Friendly welcome both from the farmer's wife and the farm dog!
