My husband, our dog, Reg, and I had a wonderful two night stay here in September 2023. The site is easy to find, well kept and the has everything you need with hard standings, EHUs and a great, well stocked little toilet building.
We were left to our own devices, which was perfect. The site is surrounding by nature whilst being easy to get to from the M6, M65, M55 and M61. We will definitely be back in 2024!
OK for one night
I stayed here for one night as a stop off. As a woman travelling alone I felt quite vulnerable at this site. There was no welcome or clear instruction. The site was partially flooded when I arrived and only one other unit there which was empty. To be fair no one can help the weather and it was a particularly wet day. The facilities are basic but clean enough. The ECH initially worked but then cut out. It has everything you need but probably could do with a little TLC.
Excellent site
We were travelling from Scotland home to Devon and wanted a site to stop over which was close to the M6. This CL is excellent. Close to the M6 yet in the countryside, rural and peaceful. Lovely setting and nice walk with the dog down to the river. Easy access to water and waste points. Toilet and sink in shed - clean and acceptable. I can highly recommend this site and we will be using it again.
Hidden Gem!
Very grateful to find this little bit of heaven at the last minute.
Hard standing and EHU, so peaceful and birdsong concert morning and evening!
Stunning setting overlooking a beautiful lake.
Kind and helpful owner.

Embarrassing
After going through the gates onto the driveway to the site we saw an extremely large American style outfit about to make a late departure at the far end. We indicated that they shouldn't proceed as we were already part the way along. They ignored our warning and continued regardless, forcing us to go onto the verge at the side of the driveway. We discovered that the verge was very wet and boggy and unfortunately left a tyre mark. We were just siting our caravan on the pitch when the site owner appeared and berated us in no uncertain terms for marking the grass before we had time to explain what had happened. We found the situation highly embarrassing and considered leaving.
The following are some suggestions for the site owner:
1) Ascertain the facts before commenting.
2) Ensure pitches are vacated before the 12 noon cut off.
3) Only open the site during the drier months to preserve the grass.

One night stay
We have just returned from a one night stay with our friends at this lovely little site !
We arrived in the afternoon and got set up for our stay .it’s a lovely site with a pretty fishing lake . Lovely surrounding and very easy to get to from the motorway.
We walked to the nearest pub The New hall tavern which was about a 15 minute walk down a fast moving road but not a problem.
Food is proper pub grub, reasonable price and tasty ! The landlady and staff are lovely!
We returned to the site and had a lovely night!
The site has a shed building that has a toilet and sink.
There is fresh water and electric hook up!
In the morning we met the lovely lady who owns the site !
Overall a lovely little site . A little noise from the surrounding roads but it didn’t bother us at all as once inside your van you can’t hear it anyway!10 mins drive from Hoghton Tower and Hoghton Bottoms which is a lovely walk with waterfalls!
We would all definitely stay here again!

Beautiful site and so picturesque
What a lovely little site in a very peaceful location. You would never know it was so handy for the motorway. Received a lovely welcome from the owner.
There is a lovely restaurant called New Hall Tavern nearby. It has excellent food and very friendly staff - good idea to book though.
We only stayed one night in our way North but would definitely stay longer as lots of places to visit nearby.
Can highly recommend.
Lovely peaceful weekend
Just been on this site this weekend.what a nice site to chill.fishing lake on the site 7.00 for the day.ehu on all pitches toilet was closed but apart from that the site is ok.bit off traffic noise in background but it doesn't bother you.
Nice CL
All in all this is a good cl. The toilet is in a shed but is perfectly ok if a little cold. The area was lovely but the noise from the nearby motorway was a pain. The good side of its location was that it was a cracking stop off point on our way up north. I could see it getting a bit boggy here as it was getting that way when we went in November and it had been quite dry recently. The fishing was in my mind too expensive at £7 but don't let me put you off perhaps I watch my pennies too much. To sum up I will use this site again - if not the fishing.
Another fantastic stay here and great fishing
This was our 2nd time at this CL and again what a fantastic long bank holiday weekend. The weather was alot better this time and our 6 year old enjoyed playing with other children staying on site. we managed to get a full days fishing in aswell on the sunday fishing from 7 am all the way untill 9 pm and what a great place to fish and all for just £7 per person per day and i had a nice 5lb carp out aswell as other smaller carp and lots of smaller fish. As before we will be back to this Cl as we really do enjoy it and the owner Mrs Cooper is a lovely lady and very friendly. We cant recommend this site enough.
