Fantastic Little Gem

Another enjoyable holiday at Reen Cross with the usual warm welcome from the owners Craig and Nyrene who also run the site. My wife and I have stayed here for a number of years now and seen all their hard work and the changes they have made for the better. The previous managers have now moved on but this lovely holiday park still retains it's charm and friendly atmosphere. This is a great location with all holiday facilities within easy reach and a great base for touring. Already booked for next year! Frank and Jenny. Tip: Book early!

Fantastic CL

We stayed here for 4 nights in our VW camper van with two dogs in May 2023. The site was perfect for us. Craig was the consummate host and nothing was too much trouble. He even gave us maps and information on the local footpaths and the walk to the Bolingey Inn. The site is easily accessible, lovely short mown grass (with resident wild but tame rabbits) with good facilities. The site is within longish walk or drive of Perranporth, and roads are good to all the local beaches, Holywell, Crantock, Chapel Porth etc. The site is peaceful and no noticeable road noise. We had such a good time here and will be back.

Sadly disappointed

We arrived onto the CL site which was the first entrance on the site with the commercial site further along the entrance road. With no-one around we chose one of the two hard standing pitches that we had booked (there was no-one else on site the whole weekend). The site seemed very nice. However having set up a lady (presumably Sandy) came over and proceeded to tell me off for setting up on the pitch without following the instructions on the sign supposedly at the site entrance that said to check into reception first. The sign was by the reception hut which is a hundred yards on from the CL entrance. Having been made to look stupid and actually totally unwelcome she said the CL toilet was not working as if it didn’t matter and we could use the commercial site facilities further away. We should have packed up and left at that point. However we decided to stay but that was not a good decision. The toilet was faulty, the shower was ok but needed to be refurbished. The washing up hut had only enough hot water for about a mug full. The site has a lot of construction happening which leaves it rathe scruffy. There was no mention of this on booking. There was no further communication from the wardens at all. At £23 per night we thought it a rip off. Sorry but unless someone has the balls to say something these sites will continue to give the CAMC a bad name!

Loved this place!

We visited mid June 2021, Sandy and LOL were very helpful and welcoming. The site was lovely, we stayed on the CL site and our pitch had its own waste, water and electric and lots of space. The toilets and shower were very clean. Really can’t fault it. Perranporth and Goonhavern were a short walk/bike ride away. We can’t wait to revisit in the future. Thanks Kate and Nav

Fabulous peaceful 14 night stay

We arrived at Reen Cross and were greeted by Lol and Sandy the wardens and shown to our pitch. We were given all the information and site rules in a positive and friendly manner. Covid19 has obviously made things more difficult than usual. The toilet and shower facilities were closed but we had been pre warned about this before booking. The site backs onto Reen Cross Holiday park which is owned and run by the same people. The sites are divided by a natural high natural border and didn’t cause us any bother. The grass is well mown, quite rustic and natural and very peaceful. There are 2 hard standing pitches and the rest is grass. We had pitch 4 and had water , EHU, and drainage. Pitches 3 and 5 also have this facility. We took our 2 dogs with us and were pleased to find that there are many walks directly from the site. There are Byeways, bridleways and footpaths in abundance where dogs can run free off lead safely. The views from the paths are stunning too with many wild flowers edging the hedgerows. One walk goes to Perranporth, about 1.5 miles which is lovely and a must. The village of Goonhavern is a walk of about 1/2 mile. The village has everything to offer. Pub, well stocked Londis, Garden Centre that has an amazing fruit and veg shop, pet shop and superb cafe. We will definitely return in the near future. Thank you to Sandy and Lol for being excellent wardens and keeping everyone happy and safe.

Could be cleaner

We recently visited for a 3 night stay. Made to feel welcome by the managers who also run a commercial site in the field next to the CL. The manager explained where the facilities were, but made it very clear that the commercial site facilities are only available to visitors to that site and the CL visitors were not allowed to use them. The charge for both the commercial site and the CL was the same which surprised us a little as the CL facilities were inferior We checked out the facilities on the CL. The washing up sink had obviously not been cleaned that day. There was a lot of dried food debris in the sink. We decided not to use the sink. Showers did not inspire us and certainly did not look as pristine as in the photos. No toilet paper in either of the toilets. The site generally was looking unloved, with a lot of weeds growing through the hard standings. On a plus side, the location is good, with easy walks to Goonhavern which has a big garden centre and a well stocked village shop. Also an easy walk to Perranporth. Would we return? Possibly, but in the hope that the site was a bit more loved than at present.

Nice site but not quite as expected.

Club members beware...if you wish to stay on the CL, then ask for a pitch on the CL as behind this is ‘Buttercup Meadow’ ( a rather adventurous description) and behind the ‘meadow’ is a large area with tent pitches, caravan pitches, seasonal users and two ( soon to be three ) statics. It’s fair to say that the CL is quiet and as described on the website, however the rest of the site, under local authority licence can be busy and not so quiet. Facilities were good and as described, but some facilities were not working correctly. Washing machines were running off of extension leads within reach of the sink in the users area...far from ideal. The main let down for Reen Cross is the owners junk that is stored around the toilet block and other areas, and the fact that the site looks a bit uncared for generally. This is not a reflection on the excellent Management team who are doing their best with what is there, but the site does need some tlc and some money spent on general upkeep and tidying. Once again when booking we would recommend that you ensure that you are booked on to the CL to avoid disappointment. This site has massive potential and is superbly situated for local attractions and amenities.

Fab

Spent seven days on this wonderful CC site in July 2015. Peace and quiet and a great location for visiting other areas of Cornwall. Ten minutes to Newquay, twenty to St Ives, Thirty to Padstow. Craig and his lovely wife made us very welcome.  Great little site and very clean Shower and toilet facilities.

Wonderful holiday

When we got to Reen Cross Farm, we were welcomed with a warm and friendly smile and greeting. Craig made myself, my wife and 9 year old daughter extremely at ease, and although we are not able to go back this year, we would certainly recommend the site to anyone, who wants a lovely holiday in Cornwall with a friendly, helpful and caring owner. The facilities, were clean and tidy, and I recommend a stay, you will not regret it.

Excellent

We loved this site, excellent location, easy walking distance to a good garden centre with a restaurant and village shop. A secure site with double gates and well lit at night. Our hard standing pitch was nice and level. The facilities were clean and the whole site well maintained. Mr Buscombe, the owner was a lovely man. We will definately be back. Thank you for a lovely stay!
