Fantastic! Highly recommended and will return

Stayed for two nights and had a great weekend. We went with friends so had two caravans, 4 adults and a dog in total. We were allowed to pitch together and however we liked to suit our vans so not having to stick to grid lines like lots of sites. There was the offer of hard standing or grass. The woods where we were allowed to walk the dog (on a lead) was absolutely beautiful with fairy lights that come on as soon as it's dark and light a path. There is a bbq with bar area and fire pits, tables and chairs in there too so it would be a fantastic location for a party or wedding. Then there's the pop up entertainment area where they can set up another bar, the gorgeous new shower (only one but we didn't have to wait or queue), glamping the other side of the farm and the animals. We had a fantastic weekend and even bought some of their meat (frozen) which we've eaten this week and it was gorgeous and really quite cheap - sausages, streaky bacon and beef skirt for stew. They also sell eggs from the freely roaming chickens - and maybe duck eggs too but not sure - as well as wool from their own sheep and other bits in the shop area. Would not hesitate to recommend and return. Thank you Ruth and Norman and family.

A real gem of a site

Spent 15 nights here and absolutely enjoyed the wonderful surroundings in a peaceful setting. Great views and plenty of bird displays by Buzzards and more. Ruth and Norman very welcoming and gave us a tour of both their CL locations during our stay and enjoyed seeing the farm livestock. They even arranged fantastic weather.... We used this site to relax and unwind in the main and to visit some Kent attractions, including Hever Castle and also Bodiam castle via the steam railway from Tenterden. Great Saturday market in Faversham and finally an air show at Headcorn airfield. We were even treated to an impromptu solo Spitfire display over the CL as we dismantled the awning on our last evening. Duck eggs and sausages from the farm went down well and cannot wait to sample the steak we bought prior to departure! Unable to comment on washroom facilities as we did not use them, as we do not also use them on club sites, but expect they are to a high standard in line with the excellent way the CL is managed. Will return in the future, for sure.

Nice weekend away.

Beware the road leading to this site is narrow and has some blind bends, with passing points. Nice cl with well looked after grass pitches, over looking the fields and distant views, a lovely Bluebell wood to walk in with a picnic area in the middle. Nice and close to many of the Kent attractions or well within a short drive away. As this is working farm you expect to get a bit of farm noise, but nothing that bothered us. We found the price of this CL a bit high,we have had many CL's a lot better and cheaper with free toilets and showers,£2.50 per person per night,I don't think so. Sorry but we won't be coming again.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are delighted you enjoyed the site and the bluebell woods. As you mention the site is in a wonderful location with lots of attractions nearby. We are sorry that you found the price for the toilet and shower high. There is a charge for this as many people staying at the site use their own facilities and the cost covers the maintenance of the toilets and showers and means that the CL owners can offer this to members who need to use these facilities. The price is stated on the website to avoid confusion to members. We are sorry to read that you won’t be returning to enjoy the site again in the future.

Be Aware

Site is lovely, peaceful and well maintained. However, when we booked we weren't told of the increase in charge this year. Now risen to £22 AND we found the charge of £2.50 per night per person for the shower and toilet was excessive. It is not luxury either as advertised! We did not have 5 acres of woods to walk round, the area for dogs was fairly small and we weren't able to let them off lead. It took 20 minutes to walk round three times, slowly. The site is very close to the house so there is constant activity with owners walking through, tractors, sit on mower was being used most of one of the days. Yes it's a working farm, very nice but we won't return for a total of £27 per night. Also there is another field which when we were there had 4 caravans on and those people were using the shower facility of which there is only one with toilet in same room. Therefore it is not exclusively Caravan Club members, we just get a separate field.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are pleased you found the Site peaceful and well maintained. The CL owner has got in touch as she wanted to clarify that the price is in fact £17 per night as stated on the website and not £22 per night. There is a charge of £2.50 per person per night for the use of the toilet and shower facilities as stated on the Club website. As such the price is a total of £22 per night and not £27 per night. We hope this clears up any confusion.

As it is a working farm the CL owners ask dogs to be kept on leads and state on the website that controlled dogs are welcome. There are however many lovely walks in the surrounding area to take dogs for long walks off the lead. As you can see from other reviews this is a lovely CL which is very popular with members and we are sorry that you did not enjoy your time staying on this working farm.

The best CL site we have stayed on

There is no underestimating the hard work and thought that the owners have invested here. Everything is well put together with quality facilities, within picturesque grounds. added to that the owners happen to be lovely - very helpful and friendly people - gives an overall experience that must be experienced. If you are looking for something in this location, give this a go. Although this site is not far from a main route, you could be anywhere here, no road noise or passing traffic etc. Great for exploring.

lovely peaceful site. One shock was the five pounds per night to use the toilet and shower, expected to pay for shower but never had to pay for toilet. We feel we should have been told on booking.

fabulous site

Ruth and Norman were the perfect hosts and the setting was tranquil with beautiful views across fields with cattle and rare breeds of sheep. Facilities were excellent, even the additional ones in the main barn were better than some sites I have been on! The site was very well maintained and it was a perfect place to stay and relax. Meat produce from their live stock is available and we are looking forward to trying it. Terrific hosts and a marvellous site.

A truly lovely site

This is a truly lovely site, run by lovely people. Norman and Ruth Coles made us so very welcome and the farm itself is so very interesting to be close to. We watched grass cut for silage, turned and baled and stacked away for the winter and were able to go on a tour of the farm to see the lovely cattle and sheep, all Hebridean. This is a lovely conservation farm and the CL is a fabulous place to spend a couple of weeks as we did. We only live 18 miles away in Kent, but found this a most relaxing site. If we were greedy, we would like to keep it a secret! We plan to visit Round Oak again.

Lovely site

A very well presented site in an ideal location for exploring Kent. Facilities were excellent and owners friendly and helpful. Only drawback was there were a lot more than 5 units, it got a bit crowded.
