Drawbacks, what drawbacks

there are some drawbacks to this site: cockerels and Guinea Fowl double are early morning alarm calls, but this is a working farm, what else do you expect.  The entrance was tight for us but we have a 9m 5th wheel.  The access road has a number of potholes but we gave been on much worse.  The charge for using the loo/shower (£5 per night) is the highest we have ever come across but the site fee is reasonable.  As for the rest of it, the views are to die for, the site is kept in excellent condition with a private wood at one end for walking, BBQs and a play area even though it is an adult only site.  The owners and their farm staff cannot do enough to help.  There are walks from the site and access to towns and shops is easy.  They also provide a great selection of their own produce.  Fantastic site shame about the drawbacks!

Great location for Kent attractions

We recently had a couple of nights here and really enjoyed the quiet location, especially as we had the whole place to ourselves! The owners were away but we were greeted by their son who was very helpful. We had a lovely view over the fields that were full of sheep and enjoyed walking around the small woodland. Looks like it would be great for warmer weather with a firepit, swing, trampoline etc in the wooded area. Didn't use the facilities but looked in on them and they looked really nice. Very easy to get to Leeds Castle and other attractions and very secure site with large wooden gates with keypad entry. Took home some delicious farm produce and would definitely recommend.

Winter Weekend

We have just had a lovely weekend at Roundoak, arrived at about 1815 on dark drizzly Friday night, Norman was out to greet us and advised that best place to pitch was right by the house. He then showed us where all the facilities were, took our power leads and plugged them in for us.... (it was a tad muddy). He then told us he was off to pick up takeaway Chinese and did we want to order anything. We had already sorted dinner, but liked the thought. Next morning we were awoken with various farm noises (not too early). We then had a walk round Roundoak wood and Norman then gave us a tour of the farm. We then went into Headcorn for a look round  Having had a wee walk round Headcorn, we had a nice lunch in the George and Dragon. There is a good bus service that runs from Maidstone to Tenterden that runs past the end of Heniker Road, only a 10-15 minute walk from Roundoak. All in all, a lovely weekend with lovely hosts who couldn't do enough to help, on a lovely site, one which we will definitely be returning to. Oh and we are looking forward to tasting the farm produce, if the meat is as good as the hens eggs, I'm sure it will be delicious. Thanks again, Norman & Ruth

Peace & Tranquility

Stayed at this site for a long weekend May 2015 together with friends. Very well maintained site with lovely open views across fields of Hebridean Sheep. Didn't use the showers etc. but told they are very good. Lovely bluebell wood next to the site ideal for dog walking. Good walks direct from the site. Owners very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

Gorgeous

Had a great time here enjoying the peace and quiet the views and the excellent sausages! The owners are very pleasant and very willing to show you around the lovely farm and we were there to see new born lambs. Nice secure site with lovely country views. Nice new toilet block at extra cost. Will definately visit again. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Are all CL's like this?

This was the first time that we have used a CL and we loved everything about Roundoak. It's well worth paying a little bit more to use the luxury shower/toilet facilities. It's a working farm but Norman and Ruth still found time to get to know us. Such a peaceful location in rural Kent. With many family members living in the Maidstone area I am sure that we will return many times. Before we left on Saturday we purchased meat, eggs, apple juice from the farm. Tonight we had the beef burgers; delicious. I can't wait to try the pork, lamb and other beef produce over the next few weeks.

Back after Easter School Holiday!!

As promised below we said we would be back and this time we stayed for the week with our closest friends. Second stay for us and we thoroughly enjoyed Roundoak and everything that goes with a CL like this.  Our hosts were lovely and really nice to spend time with and talk to. As always the entire site is exceptionally well kept and this time our neighbours were some very impressive Highland cattle. Norman very kindly took us and the children round the farm and we were very privileged to see the new piglets feeding from their mother. The local produce is great and strongly recommended to anyone who stays here. Thank you Ruth & Norman for your hospitality and congratulations on a wonderful CL. We will be nominating Roundoak for CL of the year.  Darren & Kirsty..

Easter school holiday

We stayed at Roundoak on our journey back from the New Forest this Easter holiday. We booked in for Fri, Sat and Sun night and loved every minute of our stay. We were met by Norman on arrival who very quickly showed us to our pitch and welcomed us warmly. The site was immaculately kept, close cut grass over looking the field with the new lambs soaking up the spring sunshine. We were quickly set up and then took the opportunity to explore the woods and observe the lambs playing next door. We will certainly be coming back during the summer on our travels in and out of Kent. Looking forward to sharing this CL with our friends soon. Thank you to Ruth and Norman for your hospitality .

Fab venue for my 50th

I second all previous reviews; Ruth and Norm very very friendly and helpful. I hired the entire site for my 50th birthday last weekend, well worth consideration if you want to get together in a relaxed, no fuss environment. Ruth and Norm were so helpful and obliging, the wooded area was ours and the fire was dutifully lit at request, BBQ fuelled and ready to go. This was all at a very reasonable cost; probably cheaper than hiring a hall. The only thing that let us down was the windy weather (norm has contingency plans for every eventuality). My friends and I had a lovely time and everyone said what a truly beautiful location it was (we have even converted a confirmed B&B er to thinking caravanning might be nice.) On the morning after the party, Norm dutifully showed everyone around the farm on his little 4x4 whilst breakfast cooked. Every couple that came had at least two dogs and they were allowed to roam freely on site and all got on very well (poo bags essential) I know of at least two couples who are planning to use the party facilities and most of the others plan to go back just for the CL location. On a final note, friends travelled from Hull to be with us and it was no trouble for Ruth and Norm to store their caravan until they return to collect it this week on their way to Italy. Norm even moved it off site for them. Ruth and Norm are very proud of their site and environment and I would recommend this CL to anyone. We are very local but we still find it a pleasure to get away from it all here. Final final note; try the lamb - beautiful. Very fresh Eggs can be bought by dropping money in the honesty box. I got a courtesy lamb shoulder and a lovely birthday card as I left. Highly recommended. Thanks Ruth and Norm.
