Charming, especially if you like boats and water

This is a great little site set on a peninsula in the middle of a boatyard. Access it from the turning opposite The Wherry and not from the other end of the loop. The welcome was very friendly. I note other comments critical of the distance from site to facilities but unless you just want to sit and do nothing all day it's fine. The facilities are basic but clean. 20p for a reasonable shower. It appears the yard is mostly storage and repair works these days so there isn't much coming and going of holiday boats therefore potential noise isn't an issue. The water level isn't far below the site level so with the peaty soil prolonged rain could make the ground conditions interesting. The two village pubs(The Wherry and The Locks) are both worth a visit. Beccles is a lovely little market town. The Broads are of course available for day boat hire. Fishing isn't allowed in the marina. Great little site, loved it.

Fantastic cl

We stayed for 1st time in May, after some very wet weather, so got bit bogged down in siteing the owner came over to ask if we wanted him to pull us out, but we decided we were fine to stay put the ground dried out fairly well and we got out fine The owners were very friendly, offered any help we needed, bought us over a extension for our hookup lead. Perfect site for us as my Husband is disabled and cannot walk far, so being surrounded by boats was his ideal holiday, there is a beautiful walks along the riverbank, a lovely pub about 200 yards from entrance to site now in the process of booking again

Enjoyable Stay

Stayed here for 7 nights in July .Pitches are on a little spit of land that runs in middle of marina with pleasant views especially if you like boats . Ground was a little spongy in places but plenty of room on each pitch to find firm ground . Facilities about 70 yards away on "mainland" by reception but no problem there .Toilets and shower were nice and clean but toilet floors could have done with a good mopping , but all in all OK . Nearby Beccles is a lovely place to visit with river and canal walks or just sit and watch the boats go by . Norwich 17 miles away with Lowestoft a little closer .

Wonderful CL

We have just returned from spending 9 nights at Rowan Craft CL which was our first visit. We arrived in pouring rain & the ground was soggy in places but dried up very quickly once the sun came out. The CL is on an island with plenty of room for caravans; you are surrounded by boats moored in the marina which makes it very interesting but also very quiet. The CL has a couple of toilets & a shower which were spacious & very clean, although we always use our own facility's. This is a beautiful CL & it is ideally located for Beccles & other places of interest. The two pubs close by are both very good & the meals were excellent & no driving required! This CL is certainly in our top three CL sites & we have stayed at approaching a 100 over the years. Highly recommended.

One night stay

We stayed for one night in June 2016. Very peaceful site. Good welcome from the owners. Not surprisingly, with the summer we're having, the Island was a little sodden in places. However, the owners had fenced off the worst bit and led us to a spot that was ok. Bearing in mind that we have a 3.5T Motorhome, the ground was plenty firm enough despite the rain that we've had. Took a short bus ride into Beccles for the afternoon and found a lovely Italian restaurant for an affordable lunch. Definitely recommended, would stay again.

Island on the Broads

The access is good, only the a short single passing road to use. The ground can become soggy in places when having heavy periods of rain. The water and elsan points are a short walk away. It is a large area for five units, so plenty of room. No local shop, but supper markets in Beccles 2.5 miles away and good local shops. Would recommend the area for a relaxing and peaceful stay. will be back

Peaceful holiday

Just returned from six nights at this CL. Facilities are basic but none the less were adequate for our use. The site is as said on an island and very beautiful and tranquil. Used the Wherry pub just 50 yards away, quite a few characters in there! Bus stop is attached to the pub which is very convenient , all in all a very pleasant stay, we will be back when next in the area.

Broad Review

Had a great stay at this site. Mid June 2014. Very peacefull during the day and night. Facilities kept very clean and the shower once you worked it out was very as hot as you liked. You are minutes from the main A road Lowestoft - Norwich though you cannot hear it which lets get to loads of interesting places to visit like Great Yarmouth for example. You can hire a canoe or day boat on site or just sit by your van to watch the wild life. Had a brilliant meal at the Wherry Inn good menu good price and the landlady is spot on with lots of local knowledge and personality. Will definitly use again when in this area.
