Ideal site, great location

Excellent little site, well looked after and in an ideal location. Just a short walk away to bus stop with frequent service into Edinburgh and beyond. Short car drive away is huge retail park for all your shopping needs. Very pleasant owner, added bonus of toilet on site. Definitely recommended, great price and thanks for a very pleasant stay

Great CL Site

4 nights July 2023 6m Campervan Stayed 4 nights as we were meeting friends from USA in Edinburgh. Everything you need and would expect from a CL site contrary to the review from Moonraker in April, who perhaps change his name to MOANraker 22 as it would appear that wherever they go they are never happy. Ideally situated for local walks, pub, tearoom and bus into Edinburgh. Booked in advance and arrived about 5pm, pitched up and were happy with everything. First night 6 units, second night 6 units, last 2 nights 5 units. Plenty of space for every unit and everyone was happy. Owners Robin and Moira are a great couple and as always gave a warm welcome Would highly recommend Will be back

Campervan 2 night stay

We stayed largely as we wanted to head into Edinburgh for a day to visit the National Museum. Site well kept. I note other reviews that mention over occupation, no problems whilst we were there, 3 vans the first night, 5 the second. Facilities were fine, and a toilet available on site. Owner friendly, not difficult to find in order to pay. There is a larger site next to the CL so just need to be aware to go into the right spot. Again, note from other reviews a narrow road down, I have to say it's absolutely fine, not a long road, a large passing place half way, and would be straightforward to reverse if needed. Site very good value, sometimes not sure what folk expect from a CL! Next to Rosslyn Chapel but be aware you need to book, it's not open access. Bus stop a few minutes walk away, bus direct to the centre, very regular, took about 50 minutes each way. Great value, especially of one or both of you have a bus pass, only £2 each way if not. Highly likely to use the site again, definitely recommend.

Ignores CL rules and overbooks

Apart from the great location near to the Rosslyn Chapel, this is very ordinary, though decently maintained. BUT - there were SIX vans on the CL, one on the fresh water tap bay blocking it for others and almost nose to nose with ours. When I asked the owner why more than five on a CAMC CL, he smiled and said “I canna count!” I said CAMC members can count, he replied that he gets non-arrivals so overbooks. Maybe he should take a deposit, and stop taking cash (undeclared maybe?). All left a bad feeling, and would not want to recommend.

Excellent CL

We stayed at this CL for 7 nights. The pitches are hardstanding and fairly well spaced out. The owners met us on arrival and were lovely people. The site is a stone throw from Rosslyn Chapel and the bus route into Edinburgh is a short walk away in Roslin where there are shops and pubs. Access to the site is very good. The site is very well kept and the chemical and grey waste facilities are very good. Dog walking is good. The only minor issue was that the owner had 6 outfits on each night we were there. I would highly recommend this CL and intend to visit again next year.

Nice little site.

Great site, very clean, easy access and the owners are very helpful. Had a choice of available pitches. Right next door to Roslin Chapel. Booked for 3 nights and ended up staying 5. There is plenty of room but I did feel the spirit of the CL isn't being kept to. On three of the nights there were 6 units and on 2 of the nights I stayed there were 7 with 1 squeezed on the grass between me and the hedge. The extras seemed to have turned up unannounced.

Quiet site but be aware of late leavers from adjacent site

Access was ok until the last bit when we met 2 caravans leaving the commercial site which is adjacent. They had paid for the extra night so they could leave late. There was also a van arrived on the CL before 11am so again there is a possibility of meeting someone when you leave. One of you would have to reverse. All pitches are Hardstanding and you must also make sure your car is not on the grass. Grass is short and tidy. Quiet site with good access for Edinburgh. EE phone signal was excellent.  No choice of pitch despite 3 available on arrival. Pitch was allocated.

Peaceful site, ideal for visiting Edinburgh

Peaceful CL with limited views, friendly, helpful owner and information in the on-site toilet. Toilet shed was really clean and the site itself is very well maintained. Rosslyn chapel is a two minute walk from the site. The tours are around an hour and a half and there is a tea room. 7-10 minutes walk (some uphill )brings you into Roslin Village, where are the Roslin Hotel and pub with outdoor seating, another B&B with Dollies tearoom. The tea room serves a delicious Scottish breakfast amongst other goodies. There is a co-op just a couple of minutes further down the road. We got the bus into Edinburgh, it picks up just outside the tearoom and takes around 45 minutes, £1.80 per adult one way. return stop is Roslin hotel. Straiton park-and-ride is 10 minutes in the car from the site and the bus takes around 20-25 minutes into Edinburgh. We visited the yacht Britannia which was excellent, also the surgeons Hall with lots of interesting body parts and diseases, and Mary Kings Street where the houses were underground. All really interesting and worth a visit. Get off the bus at surgeons Hall for visit and it’s about 10 minutes walk to the Royal Mile. A lovely site with good space between caravans and you can pitch wherever you want that’s available, and whichever direction you want. This is one of the things we absolutely love about CLs and hate being squashed in on a line. Certainly would recommend it, and thanks very much for a great stay.

A hidden gem

Stopped here for four nights to visit family. Site is immaculate with a single toilet. Hard standings with grass surrounding. Village has good shops and eating places. Great walks in the glen but it is hilly. Owners are so welcoming every time we stay and it is a short distance from bypass so access is good. Buses nearby to city are great and frequent.

Love this simple site

We have stayed here twice and each time it has been fab. The owner is lovely, the ehu is 16amp, and the pitches are hard standing, large and flat. There are lots of birds around the site and on our October stay lots of mushrooms and other fungi. The original Rosslyn Inn does a good pint and a decent dinner and Dolly's tearoom does a fabulous breakfast ~I can recommend the porridge! There's a coop in the village and several other little shops. Everyone is super friendly and of course the (in)famous Chapel is literally 2 mins walk up the lane. Which also has a tea room! Lovely walks in the Glen. The only thing to be wary of is the single track lane to access once you've passed the Chapel, but it's short and there is a passing place. One clean loo but no shower. 20 mins drive right into the city centre, 5 minutes to a range of supermarkets. What more could you want?
