Lovely little friendly site

Lovely little site which we found very peaceful. The owners were very friendly and extremely accommodating. Quirky shower and loo facility we found very charming, and were always clean and tidy. The field was always well mowed inspite of the beautiful British weather. Overall a lovely little C.L Site which we will definitely return to.

Disappointing

The entrance into the CL is in need of maintenance. There is a large dip between the road and the track into the site which could cause damage. The grass needed cutting and perhaps a general overhaul of the loo/shower area is needed. The slope was far greater than anticipated and the leveling blocks mentioned in other reviews were very hard to find!! I found the road noise intrusive. We won't be returning.

Excellent Weekend

This is an excellent site. Yes it is on s slope but they warn you about it beforehand and do provide ramps at the back of the pitch, you will however need some of your own too. Well spaced out motorhomes and caravans. The tap is easily accessible for motorhomes and the toilet drop is the best my husband has used but it would be handy to have a flat place to put the toilet cap on but that's the way he likes it and may not be an issue to other users. There is a toilet and shower on the farm but we didn't use them as we didn't have the need. We did a walk which we got off the Derbyshire Council Website Wirksworth to High Peaks Junction and back, it was a lovely walk and has toilets at two stations and a little hut selling food and drink at Black Rocks, they cater for Vegans and offer oat milk too. The only downside to the walk was that the website said it was 4.75 miles and it was actually just over 6 plus the walk to and from Wirksworth so be aware of that when you are looking at the length of the walks. A meal at Hope and Anchor in Wirksworth was lovely too. We are looking forward to coming back.

Wonderful 5 nights

This is a lovely CL. I initially booked 2 x nights over a weekend 19th May - 21st May 2023 to celebrate our sons birthday. We took our motorhome and he, our daughter-in law and our two grandsons stayed in their tent next to us. Kate the owner was very friendly and couldn't be more accommodating. Our grandson made friends with Logan, Kate's dog and she bought Logan to say goodbye to our grandsons before leaving which they were thrilled with. We stayed on the top field which we had to ourselves. Superb views of Carsington water from the field and well worth visiting. We walked there, the route is mostly good public footpath. Our son left on Sunday as he had to go to work on the Monday. Mycwife and I enjoyed our stay so much we booked a further 3 x nights. The village of Wirksworth is also well worth walking to and very picturesque. The shower and toilet really good, very clean, lovely hot water. We will definitely return, highly recommended. A perfect getaway

A fantastic place with everything you need, Kate was on hand when needed, advising if we needed anything to get in contact with her. A very easy site to reach, as long as you follow the direction given when booking. Lots to do in the area, we only stayed for two nights over the weekend, we will be back to explore more. The site is sloping but with the blocks supplied by Kate, this made leveling no issue. The toilet and shower area was spotless, WiFi was included and we were at the top of the field which was the furthest away from the point and the signal was good. Hopefully we will be returning very soon.

Friendly, helpful & excellent CL

We spent 4 weeks here and found this site to be a great space. Lots to see & do in the area - even in adverse weather. A well-drained site with no flooding and adequate shelter from high winds. Although it's on a slope, there were plenty of wood chocks available to level the caravan. Kate was extremely thoughtful and often called in to check if there was anything we needed. Lots of room on site for the caravan, awning and car - even with "neighbours" we didn't feel encroached upon. Amazing views from the top of the next field over Carsington Water with spectacular sunsets. For us, a "proper" shower with plenty of hot water available, was a bonus. Within a 5 minute drive is the lovely little town of Wirksworth. We found the local community extremely welcoming and friendly during our stay here - particularly on Remembrance Sunday. We will definitely return at some point in the future.

Great location!

We Just spent a weekend at Sleepy Hollow and had a lovely time. We walked over to Wirksworth for food on the Friday evening and had a very nice meal in the Hope and Anchor. The walk back through fields was interesting in the dark, but we have head torches, so it was fine. Wirksworth is a lovely little village. On Saturday we went for a walk around Carsington Water, which wasn't as flat as I expected, but was a good walk. To get to Carsington from the site does involve walking down a fairly busy road, but you can walk on the verge the whole way, so not really an issue. The site itself if fine. They have just made 2 of the pitches hard standing, which is useful. The site does slope much more than it appears to though, and we couldn't get perfectly level even with our chocks. The toilet is lovely and clean, although you need to remember to take a towel to dry your hands after washing them. The shower looked fine, although we didn't use it. There is an outdoor washing up sink, which we did use. This was fine but it doesn't have any sort of roof structure, so wouldn't be very good if it was raining. All in all, we had a good stay and would definitely revisit Sleepy Hollow.

Campervan Visit July 2021

Easy access to well mown site. EHU pitches quite sloping needing levellers. Facilities well cared for and owners kept good overview and were available if required - even offering to get us supplies from the local village if we were in need. However there was quite a lot of road noise and the peacock seemed to delight in waking very early! Access to public footpaths necessitated at least some road walking, with a lot of heavy traffic from the local quarry on the road to Carsington Water and often no verge. There were other units on the adjacent field but these did not impinge upon us being behind trees.

Weekend with friends

We have just returned from 2 nights at sleepy hollow with good friends, although the pitches are slightly sloping dont let this stop you from visiting a tidy well maintained and very peaceful site.Do not use your Sat nav to find it follow the directions that Kate will send you when you book. and you will have a wonderful peacefull and relaxing stay.
