What a view!!

This site certainly lived up to all expectations, having read the reviews. Very wecoming owners & lovely level grassy & well spaced pitches ( some hardstanding) with spectacular views to wonder at especially in the evening sunshine. The peace & quiet were incedible. We were blessed with superb weather during our week's stay & thoroughly enjoyed revisiting the surrounding countryside, seaside & local Nat Trust properties - too many to see them all. Even the cows & sheep seemed friendly, as were the local folk in the pub. Definitely worth another visit.

Love it !

We loved this site its peaceful, views are stunning and quiet. The owners are lovely to and of course Rosie the dog. Our son has additional needs and likes animals so he was in cow heaven and spent a lot of time sat on the picnic table gazing at cows!. We walked to the local pub which I highly recommend for the local ale and Sunday Lunch which you should book it gets busy. We walked back in about 40 mins. We had a quick wonder around Buckfastleigh which is pretty. The drive down was fine apart from the road leading down to the site which is a bit hairy in case you meet someone so we held our breath until we got into the entrance which is nice and wide. All in all brilliant will be going again. I emailed on the off chance we could get along with another CL who didn't reply but luck for us this one did.

Lovely site

A lovely peaceful site with lovely views and sunsets. Mr and Mrs Smerdon were both very helpful - rescuing us when we missed the turning and needed help getting our large rig round tight corners and narrow lanes, and also kindly receiving a parcel for us.   The site was so peaceful that even the cattle in the adjoining field were quiet. Each site had plenty of space - this in addition to all the compliments given by other reviewers.

Glad we have found this site.

The views across Dartmoor are outstanding, the site is very quiet with the occasional noise from the A38 when the wind is blowing from that direction. Extremely well cared for by friendly owners and Rosie. Rosie will just visit and sit by your door and wait to be noticed, she never attempted to come into the van. As mentioned each pitch has its own water and electric, with plenty or run about space for children. the approach is rather narrow with high hedges and grass down the middle, but that road is not very long. The entrance to the site is easy and wide. Piping hot water in the shower and the toilet is fine. The toilet area lights up when you approach it in the evening. The loo spiders are all Visitor friendly! We definitely hope to return next year and stay for longer. So many places to visit for young and old, or just sit and enjoy the wonderful sunsets and a pair of mewing buzzards at play..Happy

Lovely, Peaceful & Quiet with outstanding views of the countryside

A very well kept and cared for CL with electric/water on each pitch, a wc and shower with chemical disposal and recycling on site. The grass is regularly cut with a few hardstanding pitches available. The best of all is the countryside views which welcome you each morning especially when the sun is up. Great hosts and Rosie the pet dog will always give you a good welcome as she visits each pitch in turn for a bit of fuss. There is plenty of space for all to enjoy with some picnic tables to while away the day views. The easiest and quickest route to the site is off the A38 at the Rattery signpost at the top of the hill turn left and left again up a lane signposted to CL and not using your satnav through Buchfastleigh past the Pennywell Farm access (not recommended). Plenty of amenities around the area and easy walking to Pennywell Farm attraction. Would recommend and return again.

green and pleasant land

Thank you Mr and Mrs Smerdon, Very nice tidy site with all we needed. Facilities clean. Dogs able to chase a ball on well kept grass. Plenty of space for our two grandsons. Only slight problem was with Sat Nav. After a day out in Torquay it took us through very narrow lanes with few passing places to the wrong farm! I would still recommend this site very highly and would use it again now I know the area a bit better.

Excellent site

This is the second time we have stayed at this site the owners are helpful and frieindly the facilities are basic but welcoming each pitch has its own water supply so if you use a automatic water system theres no more struggling getting water the site is well placed for touring south devon and not to far from cornwall either the only thing we have found on both stays is the wind ! it can be strong at times the site is on higher ground so if you make sure your awning is well pegged you will be ok we will return to this site again it is first class give it a try you wont be dissapointed !

A very good cl

A nice site with excellent views. The owner is extremely helpful and they keep the site in good order. At first glance the shower and toilet look a little primitive but once inside they work very well.
