The Best

What an amazing site this is, we stayed for a week in late September and we’re completely blown away by the site, the views and the attention to detail by Linda and her husband. Yes it is top money but worth every penny. Big fully serviced hard standing pitches, your very own toilet, sink and if required outdoor washing up facilities. Easy access to the site even for the biggest vans. Plenty to see in the area, but would definitely recommend Vindolanda. We will be back !

Awesome!

Exceptional site; peace, tranquility and your own private bathroom - what more can you want! Immaculatly kept grounds, friendly (but not intrusive) owners. Can't recommend this place highly enough and will return. No public transport nearby but plenty of parking in Longtown to get public transport to Carlisle, Annan, etc.Thank you Linda for a wonderful stay and wishing you all the best for the future.

A beautiful place to stay

This site is everything you could want for a peaceful stay. We arrived 1st April 2023 and stayed just 3 nights on our way up through to Falkirk and we have enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Easy to get to and well signposted, the setup was easy and the owners were lovely and even brought along fresh eggs! Fully serviced pitches and your own cabin with W/C facilities to use. The weather was kind to us which allowed us to fully embrace the stunning views from the pitches with a glass of wine and garden chair looking out over the hills. Couldn't have asked for anything more, we would definitely reccommend and will certainly stay again if we travel up north (a great stopping point for those travelling north!) Definitely go into Gretna if staying here, its only 10 minutes drive and the history is amazing. Thank you Linda and David for a lovely stay!

So peaceful and calm

We spent 2 nights at this site. It is a lovely scenic site. Adults only site, was great if you like peace and quiet. The owners are really lovely people and welcomed us into the site. The pitches are large enough to get caravan/motorhome, awning and car on. Excellent amenities as stated private toilet, wash hand basin, hot and cold water. Sink for washing up, electric hook up, water supply and grey water disposal. Loved it and would definitely call again Thank you Linda and David

A great holiday

This is a perfect site for those seeking peaceful surroundings with far reaching views and great sunsets, Fully serviced pitches with individual toilet, wash basin and washing up sink are an added bonus. For enthusiastic cyclists, there are numerous fantastic routes in the area on quiet roads. Hadrians Wall, Kielder Forest and.Water and even the northern Lakes are all options for great trips out. Linda and David, the owners, made us very welcome and we will definitely be returning to what is for us the best CL site we have stayed on.

Wonderful welcome

Fantastic views, large fully serviced pitches and each with its own loo and washing facilities , fully enclosed dog walk, chem waste disposal, grey waste. Most of the pitches slope. It ididn’t bother us. Linda the owner was very helpful and friendly. Could not do enough for us on booking or arrival. Great communication from start to finish. We stayed in a 10mtr motorhome so size and access is good. If you want peace and quiet with great walks and views and also good acces this is a great site.

The site of the future

Where else can you find a site where each pitch is fully serviced and has an en-suite bathroom with toilet and washbasin as well as its own dishwash area ? This site does and I know of nowhere else in the UK which does ( said with experience of having been to over 150 sites ). It really is an excellent site. The pitches are well spaced out and have fantastic views. There are a few drawbacks, the main one being that the pitches have quite a slope on them - we have Milenco Quattro blocks which nearly always manage to get our motorhome level but we could not get it completely level although it was not too bad but some motorhomes with smaller blocks will struggle. The site is also a bit remote from towns and villages and from places of interest but the surrounding countryside is exceptionally peaceful. There are no off-road public footpaths in the vicinity which we thought might be a drawback because we have a dog and we like to be able to take it for off-lead walks. However, the roads around the site have so few vehicles on them and, because the area is so quiet you can hear anything coming long before it is upon you, we found that we were able to walk along the roads with our dog off lead nearly all the time ( apart from when approaching a few blind bends ). Overall I think the site is best as a stopover for a day or two ( we stayed two nights ) but well worth a visit and I would definitely recommend it.

Superb site

This was our first visit to a CL, and we were very impressed by the facilities on offer. A serviced pitch with the added bonus of its own washroom and toilet plus outdoor washing up facilities, not to mention the decking for sunbathing if you’re that way inclined. The views to the west towards Galloway and to the hills to the north were quite impressive. The site is about five miles from Longtown for shopping and eateries. We visited the Solway Firth, getting as far as Silloth where we had an enjoyable couple of hours. Talkin Tarn is about half an hour way, great for walking the dog. Linda and David were very welcoming and deserve every success in their new venture.

What a fantastic site

Cannot fault this site at all. Your own personal hut with a toilet, wash basin and a washing up area behind the hut. Your own tap and,a grey waste area. Each pitch is individually marked with green space either side and your own little bit of decking for your chairs etc. Peace and quiet with stunning views. Linda and David are very friendly and helpful. We have a campervan and this site has spoilt us. We will definitely be visiting again

Highly recommend this perfect CL site

We’ve just returned after a wonderful 3 night stay here. Linda and David make you very welcome on their working farm and are more than happy to stop for a chat. The site facilities are immaculate with every pitch having its own washroom, toilet and kitchen. There is plenty of space between the very generous pitches which also benefit from having a small decked area to enjoy the wonderful views down to the Solway and the Cheviot Hills. This little quiet and peaceful CL site is a real gem and definitely worth a visit. We will definitely return. Thank you
