A first class CL

This was a repeat visit to this wonderful site and it is still one of our favourites. It is easily accessed from the M4. The pitches are extremely large and the whole site is very tidy and well looked after. In the spring it is nice to wander through the grounds down to the woods when the bluebells are in full bloom.Lots of places to visit whether town or country and even a designer shopping centre within driving distance. Just down the road is a large supermarket and shopping complex , which includes Marks & Spencer food, tescos , and aldi and a little further on a Lidl as well as various other shops. The only dissapointment for us this year was nothing to do with the site but to access cardiff city centre you could not access a park and ride. The one remaining open only went to the hospital as no bus company would support the city centre route saying it was not viable. maybe this will change in the future. This is a very central site to stay at as it is easy to access the coast which is a short drive.Lots of nature reserves within easy reach and amazing scenery in the valleys. All in all a fabulous place and highly recommended. Hope to return again.

An extremely picturesque site.

We stayed for 14 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. The pitches are extra large, all being hardstanding, electric hook ups fantastic views over countryside and also looking towards cardiff. The grounds of this site are extensive and there are lots of walks through the woods, which were covered with bluebells when we were there. Cardiff and the coast are close by as is several country parks.Just down the road there are extensive shopping facilities including two larg e supermarkets,a little bit further on a lidl and Aldi. Unfortunately while we were there the only park & Ride for Cardiff that was open was the one the other side of cardiff but we assume that this is only temporary. A lot has been mentioned about access to the site ,but we had no problems as when coming from the culverhouse roundabout as long as you get into the right lane when you come up the hill and signal right when you get close to the marigold restaurantit gives other motorists plenty of time that once round the bend you intend to do a right hand turn across the road to enter the site..We would definitely recommend this site.

5 nights stay 7m Motorhome

We stayed here to catch up with pals from Cardiff as the last time we stayed at Sophia Gardens but weren't too keen on returning there. This was perfect for us. Handy for the M4, Cardiff Bay, Barry etc... Loads of areas to visit. We visited St Ffagans and Blaenavon Big Pit. We didn't get a chance to meet the busy owner, but not required as everything is easy to find and use. Will definitely stay again.and recommended.

Fabulously peaceful site

We stayed for 2 nights in a 6.5m motorhome and had a wonderful time. It was very quiet and peaceful, just what we needed. We had plenty to do within walking distance, including the excellent Indian Marigold restaurant, and a great circular walk to St Fagans where the Museum of Welsh Life is. We will definitely be back.

Lovely site

This is a really nice site, great value at £13 a night. we visited for a long weekend in October, wanting somewhere close to the Arms Park for rugby on Saturday. This site really fits the bill. Just 15 mins from M4 J33, easy access, level and spacious. Brilliant. Despite what others have written, the turn in is easy ... look out for the CL sign as you hit the corner ,,, and we didn't need leveling blocks even though there is a gentle slope on the site. The pitches are big enough for an awning should you want one. The views are great, when the welsh drizzle permits! You can hear the traffic on the ring road, but its not intrusive...it'll seem worse in the summer but wouldn't stop me coming again.Everything else is just perfect. I'd recommend this site to anyone wanting to visit Cardiff and surrounding area.

Good CL for visiting the area

Visited in July, when it was very dry and hot, so maybe not typical for Wales! We had no trouble finding the site, the telegraph pole at the access lane from the A48 makes a good landmark, when coming off the roundabout, we kept in the outside lane and indicated our intention to turn right in good time, it is too late to move out when you pass the restaurant on the left. Pitches are very large, but we had some trouble levelling side to side as all the pitches had a lean down the hill, something to be considered if there is a choice of pitch on arrival.......choose your pitch to assist with shower drainage! Lovely views, and spacious lawned areas behind the pitches. If possible, I would advise avoiding the pitch nearest the entrance as in dry weather the tractors entering and leaving the farm throw up a big cloud of dust.......not good if you have windows open. Water, waste, toilet emptying and rubbish disposal is well laid out, though grey water goes with the black water and means you need to lift the Wastemaster a bit for emptying, so you may wish to avoid having it too full. There is very little noise from the A48, but the link road from the M4 has a very noisy surface and you will hear it in the distance if you have windows open.

Nice site

Nice site with lovely views. Pitches good size. Some road noise and very dangerous entry to turn off from fast busy main road. Was there a week before even seeing the owner and then that was just for the money with no conversation. Not very welcoming.

An excellent cl

An excellent cl on the outskirts of Cardiff. Easy access. All pitches were hardstanding and spacious. We had a lovely view. The owners were welcoming but not intrusive. The site was well kept and we spent 8 nights there. The only thing which would make it even better would be a toilet - that said, we would definitely return and recommend to our friends. Excellent value for money.

convenient site for Cardiff

Stayed on this site in February for two nights to visit a Cardiff event. Excellent site with good access wide gates etc. The site is beautifully maintained with gravel pitches and well kept grass. It is north facing with great views to Cardiff in one direction and countryside in the other. Nice Beech trees to the west with lots of birds to see from your pitch. Woodpeckers etc. The site is with-in the grounds of a large house with beautiful parkland. Helpful owner visited to collect the fees. We had fantastic weather the only down side is the distant traffic noise from the bypass. There is a bus from outside the site into Cardiff. The owner told me the site was always full on rugby match days. I will certainly be back but not when Wales play rugby.

brilliant CL

we stay on this CL for 4nights from the 14th of September , fantastic views of the surrounding country side and the city of Cardiff. lovely clean CL the hard standings are great. it said in other reviews that it is easy to over shoot the turning for this cl I found it very easy . its not a pub any more on the left hand side but now a Indian restaurant. once passed it get in to the right hand lane , just after the road turns left the turning for the cl is on the right. there is a sign for the cl . If you are thinking of visiting this part of Wales this is ideal with the shops just down the road and all part of wales to explore had a fantastic time . we will come back dave
