Conveniently located CL site for exploring Weymouth

Lara was very welcoming and provide information on local walks and bus services. The site is a generous level area with trees on three sides and was well maintained. There is easy access to a river walk from the site. We also were able to walk to a bus stop where there is a frequent service to the centre of Weymouth and the beach. However, there were a few points which gave us a little concern: the site fee for the EHU only pays for a certain number of electrical units, if you use more than the prescribed number, then the additional units must be paid for. In other words, electricity is metered. We had no idea how much electricity we would use so we were concerned as to the sort of bill we might be running up. Fortunately, during our stay, we were within the allowance. The site is generally of good appearance, but one side appears to be used as a miscellaneous storage area - there were a couple of builders vehicles, building materials and a couple of small boats – not pretty. The location of the single water tap is in the corner of the site behind a hedge which is extremely difficult to get near with a motorhome. The chemical toilet waste disposal is actually a normal toilet bowl. It is very difficult to empty toilet waste into this without some splashback – not ideal.

Spacious, friendly site

Three nights on this lovely site were most enjoyable. The site is accessed via a narrowish entrance which is gated. It opens up on to a large field with lots of room. Water, recycling and waste are all by the entrance and easily accessed. The reception from the hosts was very warm and helpful. An additional power cable was produced without asking, plus a map of cycling and walking routes in the local area. M&S Food store as you turn right out of Nottington Lane in BP garage and Morrisons just a little further up the road. Easy access to Weymouth and Overcombe Beach. Great car park just before the front in Heron Close. Lots of room for motorhome parking and an easy way down to the beach. We will definately be back.

Lovely Peaceful Site

Received a warm welcome when we arrived. The site is a lovely spacious large paddock which means the all grassed pitches are really well spaced out. Very peaceful area and not far from Weymouth. Definitely recommended for a quite peaceful stay on a well kept site.

A great find

From the initial phone call to the valuable communication (during COVID) and finally meeting Lara was superb. It’s a lovely site in a little village. We arrived with our 8m and 8ft wide caravan and squeezed through the road and into the field. It was probably easier leaving than arriving and Jules kindly moved his car so we had more room. Lara runs a cafe (sadly closed this summer - COVID) and makes homemade produce from her back garden! We had the takeaway cream tea for £10 for 4!! Scones were a delight and the jam was just gorgeous so we had to purchase a few for presents! Recycling facilities are great on site where you sort your rubbish and Lara even has a compost bin. All so invaluable in this day and age. Kids loved getting the water and hubby emptied the toilet in a toilet- he did comment it had the potential for splashback. There is a footpath that runs through the field- this was used mostly in the evenings by locals walking dogs on leads. A river runs at the side. Whilst kids could play in this of an older age it is certainly not for our kids (8 & 5). Lara was helpful for the local sites, including a walk down to Lodmoor if you park at the park and ride - safe for kids biking too. Must see is Abbotsbury village with the church and playground. Lots of cafes available. Weymouth was too busy for us to maintain distancing so can’t comment but we enjoyed the crazy golf at the Sealife, Lodmoor Would we go back- absolutely though we may choose to get a smaller van!

Great nights stay at a lovely little CL.

Had a lovely overnight stay here. Close enough to Weymouth and Jurassic coast but set in the countryside so absolutely peaceful. Huge site with loads of space. Owner was absolutely lovely as were the other caravan owners. Could have stayed longer if we had had time and would certainly return!

wonderful CL.

What a little gem! Lovely lawned site with plenty of space and beautiful walks by the river straight from the site. Lara the owner couldn't have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful. Her Tea Garden opposite is a must even made us a beautiful birthday cake! Will definitely be back when visiting this beautiful area.

Wonderful CL to stay at

l would recommend this CL to all members. Beautiful setting, peaceful, lots of birdsong. Fantastic welcome from Lara the site owner, who couldn't do enough to help during our stay. Lovely walks by the river straight off the site. You must sample Lara's home made scones and cakes and have a tea in the garden opposite. The new sculpture park near Dorchester is a must visit (No under 14s) A great place to stay.

Easter Break

We have just returned from a lovely break at this site. When we arrived we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome and given all the information that you need when arriving a new site. We popped out for the afternoon and when we returned we had been left a little welcome pack on our step which was much appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble and Lara and Jules were always happy to stop for a chat. Lara and Jules encourage recycling on the site which was great as we've stayed on many sites where it just isn't done. The site is lovely, spacious and quiet and something that really attracted us was the no dogs. There is a footpath that runs through the middle of the site but this did not cause us any problems and walkers are encouraged to keep to the path by lower cut grass marking the way. We had taken our bikes and were able to cycle into Weymouth and onto Portland car free until we reached Portland. Lara runs a little stall selling homemade chutneys, chicken and duck eggs. Thank you for a great stay, we definitely will be back.

End of season break.

On arrival we were greeted by Lara the owner who showed us to our pitch. A friendly smile and a welcome pack was given out. The site was very well maintained and cut every week. Pitches were level and clean. Lara ran a small tea room/garden opposite to the site selling tea and cakes along with jars of home made jams. The site is well sheltered by trees on all sides and is away from any main roads. Public transport is at the top of the lane taking you to Weymouth & Dorchester. This site offered the perfect location to visit all the local attractions and beaches. Would I go back again, the answer is yes. No dogs or children on site makes for a lovely peaceful holiday.

Great cl close to Weymouth

We had just spent 4 days here over the may bank holiday weekend it's a great cl lovely short grass loads of space for the kids to play outside, very close to weymouth sea front and Attractions. The site has a nice stream on both sides which my kids loved to paddle in. there are public footpaths that lead you into weymouth through the country side with horses on the way  to see .at night you can hear owls but did not keep us awake, you have to watch when leaving the site as it is near a sharp bend but traffic should be doing 20mph.thank you Lara for a great weekend and we will be back again in the future.
