Weekend stop

Lovely site arriving at 1pm meant a queue which was stressful as we were hanging out on main road. Wardens very friendly site very clean with good facilities. I would like to see a few more dog bins as only found one. We will return but will be careful with arrival time to avoid a queue.

Didn't want to leave

Love it here. Been once before. All the best things about a basic CL. Large field, mostly flat as a pancake. Picnic bench/Tables for all, so no fighting. Could only stay a couple of days, probably just as well as it was minus something when I arrived and pretty much the same when I left. Great tracks and trails all over the place, super Pub 500 metres up the road. Lovely owners whom I didnt get to meet except on SMS. Thank you SFCL.

A beautiful location wish I'd stayed longer..!

A proper CL, lovely location with pub in walking distance. Peace and quiet and very reasonably priced. The perfect spot as long as you have all your own facilities but this is reflected in the price. Pub food was also reasonable and great quality...!

Fantastic CL

One of the nicest and best 'proper' CLs we have stayed on for a long time. It's tidy, well laid out, has fantastic views, village has all you need, so many different walks direct from the site, all sorts of attractions and places to visit within easy distance. Can't fault it or beat it, unless you want the sea. Thank you

Peaceful and Scenic

Lovely, peaceful CL with amazing views across to Dunkery Beacon. Easy site to get to and close to points of interest like Dunster. We went at lambing time, so newborn lambs kept appearing in the field next to us, which was lovely to see. Site is all grass and cut well, but can be unlevel in places, pitches are marked out by picnic benches on each pitch. Payment is on arrival and there is an information 'cupboard' along with a recycling area.

Relaxing stay

We have just spent 3 nights at Steadway Farm and had a really lovely time. Very easy to find and the owners are very welcoming and helpful. Lovely pub within walking distance and they are happy for you to take your dog. So many places to visit and go for long walks. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning.

We specifically liked that you could walk and explore the local area directly from the site, without the need to drive anywhere.

Steadway Farm CL is a 1 acre off grid CL site situated in the village of Wheddon Cross, the highest village in Exmoor, Somerset. Presently owned by father (Edgar) and daughter (Kathy), Steadway Farm CL has been open since 1978. Steadway Farm CL can be found on the North West outskirts of the village and is only a 5 minute walk (0.3 miles) from the local pub (Rest & Be Thankful Inn), Budgens, and also a petrol station. From the site itself, you'll be treated to views of the Dunkery Beacon and the surrounding rural setting. We stayed at Steadway Farm CL from a Thursday until Sunday and this could certainly have been increased with the number of things to do in the local area. If you like hiking, biking and quaint rural villages, whilst still being located close the to coast then this is a great location to base your trip to Exmoor. Another classic back to basics site in an idyllic location

Spent an enjoyable six nights here despite less than perfect weather. Nice back to basics site in beautiful countryside with some nice bridleways for mountain biking. As usual I have made a video of the site which can show it better than I can describe it which you can watch here. https://youtu.be/nsUNcaD6IsI

Perfect for exploring Exmoor

A perfect location for exploring Exmoor. Access was easy. The site is not perfectly flat but we soon found a good spot that was level enough for us. Lovely view towards Dunkery Beacon. We didn't need EHU and this was a bargain for £6 a night. When we next visit Exmoor this is where we will stay. Nowhere could beat it for us.
