Peaceful site

Lovely quiet site. Spacious pitches all with a fabulous view. Nice walks from site or not far to drive to walks and places to visit. Dan and Lucy friendly and welcoming. Received helpful instructions for arrival. Will definitely visit again.

What a fantastic site for relaxing.

A great picturesque site, fantastic views from the edge of a hill. I am an amateur radio operator and what a fantastic take off for HF. A strong thumbs up from me. We was met by Dan who is very friendly and showed us to our pitch. He explained where the local walks are and couldn't be any more helpful. My wife and I stayed over night (Saturday) and brought our 5 year old granddaughter who really enjoyed the walk and seeing some of the local animals.

Very practical and easy

Brilliant views, well-laid out, lots of room. The individual electric points and taps for each pitch along with a motion-detected spotlight for arrivals in the dark are very welcome.

Tranquil !!!

Thanks to Dan & Lucy for such a beautiful CL site. Outstanding views, peace and quiet, countryside all around you, what else could you wish for. As driving up to the site, some advice off Lucy on entrance to come in a particular way as it’s a bit of turn if your in a big vehicle but very straight forward after that very easy to park with any size vehicle, and plenty of room if you have to manoeuvre. Electric and water on every pitch, and for £20 a night worth every penny. If you like walking or cycling ideal !!! there are a few local pubs that serve food. Looking forward to returning very soon and thanks again for an outstanding site.

A definite favourite, great views and pitches

A wonderful CL site in a great location. Far-reaching views, hardstanding, water taps on each pitch and friendly owners. We paid £20 per night, and were not asked to pay extra for an awning or one dog. We will definitely return and highly recommend this site.

Fabulous

Recently stayed here for a week. Could not express any higher praise for this site, the owners, the facilities and best of all the view. Well done! Good luck for the future.

A favourite place

We visited this site last weekend and can’t wait to come back. It’s definitely on our favourite list. Lucy met us on arrival and is most helpful and friendly. The views were amazing and the peace and quiet was great. Lucy told us about a walk through the fields down to Dilhorne which was really nice. It’s a lovely village with a couple of pubs. Unfortunately we got the timings wrong to try the second pub but staff at Charlie Bassetts were very friendly and although we didn’t eat there, the food looked good. I recommend anyone to try Stonewall Retreat and I can guarantee you will want to return. Just leave a space for us though !!! Marg & Ian

Quiet and peaceful

Can't fault this site. Very quiet with spectacular views over the country side. Hard standing with own electric, water tap. Walking distance to local village amenities.

A gem of a site

This is recently developed site, and has been beautifully created to please the user. The pitches are all provided with water and electric points, hard-standing for caravan and access with plenty of grass all around. Facilities are clean and new plus the location is excellent. Views are delightful and the village pub is only a short walk across the fields. We have already booked a return visit in the summer.

Stunning Views Spacious Site And Warm Welcome

I stayed for about 10 days in April 2022. It's best to research on google maps and street view before making your journey here but make sure you take the A52 and don't miss the Dilhourne turning or like me you will have to continue to a petrol station and turn around. The actual site is excellent and the views are just stunning. The site area is generous - I have seen other small sites where the caravans are crammed in - not here - there is ample space. Each plot has it's own electric and water and there is a very well organised and clean waste disposal area. There are no on site toilets. I found 2 circular walks though you will need to walk on the country roads to complete them. One walk along the path behind the site to the left down through a wood and past some fishing ponds into Dilhourne and another on the same track but following to the right. Ashbourne and Dovedale are within 30 minutes. I would certainly recommend this site - the owners were very friendly and helpful.
