November stay

We can thoroughly recommend this new CL site and echo the comments of the previous reviews. Even there was road noise it was not intrusive in the least. We particularly liked the gated access, and the owners are extremely helpful and welcoming. Pitches are a good distance away from each other with grassed areas between each pitch, even with a porch or awning up. Due to the high winds forecast we decided to leave early which was a shame as we loved the privacy and quiet. Apart from the towns mentioned in other reviews a short drive away is the lovely Lydiad Park. excellent for long walks, dogs, picnics and kids! Autumn visit

This new CL has 5 H/S pitches, separate male & female toilets and security gate. The site is easily accessed off the B4696 with a wide entrance. There is a large field behind the pitches, ideal for walking one's dog(s), and also a separate enclosed paddock where they can run free. Each morning there were 3 Roe deer in the large field. The site is close to both Swindon & Cirencester for ones major shopping. For those that like walking the Cotwold Water park is only a couple of miles away and has numerous footpaths including the Thames Path, and a bridalway  runs adjacent to the farm's fields. The only drawback with the site was the busy road which is noisy during the day, especially in the morning, but quiet during the night.

An excellent new site.

We spent a week here in early August, and found the site easily, the security of a locked gate with your own key was a nice touch. The pitches are laid out a little too close together for my personal preference but as the maximum number of caravans on site during our stay was three, this was not an issue, but I would feel crowded if the site was full.  It is a nice site backing onto fields and we had the pleasure of watch a family of Buzzards hunting and wheeling above us, and a glimpse of a Roe Deer on the tree line. The site is located for easy access to many local attractions  such as Cricklade, Bourton on the water, and Marlborough, all worth a visit Several good pubs locally, serving good food the Vale of the White Horse inn at Minety well worth a visit. The local road is noisy, and someone has already mentioned that the local racing wannabes use it as a racetrack. This can be noisy, but not excessively intrusive. We will be back.

First Time Out

We visited Thatado Farm for the May Bank Holiday. As this was our first time out in our Caravan, I have waited a while to do a review as I had nothing to compare this site to. The site has ample room for 5 caravans. Having level hardstandings makes this site good value for money at £12:50. The toilets are clean and well maintained. We had a little difficulty finding the site which was probably our fault. On contacting the owner, he gave us clear instructions on how to get there, even waiting by the gate watching out for us. The owner does not live on the site, so this was a nice gesture. We were welcomed onto the site, and not bothered again. Very laid back. Which was fine with us. On arrival you are given a key to the gate to let yourself in and out. A nice touch for extra security. The site is adjacent to a quietish stretch of road, occasionally abused by the odd idiot that thinks he/she is Stirling Moss. The site is situated in a good area to view the local villages that you probably wouldn't think about. Cricklade is worth a couple of hours just to see the River Thames at just a few feet wide. Bourton is definitely worth visiting. Well worth a short break or as part of a longer break. Thanks.

Thatado Farm will definitely do!

We were really pleased with our visit to Thatado Farm. The entrance to the site is clearly signposted, you can't miss it, which is not always the case with CL sites. We were greeted by a gentleman, who was more than helpful, and made sure we were ok before he left us to sort ourselves out. The actual field is quite large and open. The toilet facilities were clean and my husband thought the chemical waste  disposal point was very clean and easy to use...and under cover which is an added bonus. It is a new site (we were only the forth visitors) but it is well organised and after chatting to the owner, his plans will make it even better. We enjoyed our relaxing 3 night stay at this site and have booked to go back again in 2 weeks time. We would recommend Thatado Farm to anyone looking for a pleasant, relaxing break. Mr and Mrs Hills
