Lovely Wee CL

The facilities at this CL are exceptional. We did find it a wee bit out of the way for some of the places we wanted to visit but is ideal for exploring the Galloway forestry park. This was my first time towing the caravan and coming from the Newton Stewart side, the road was a nightmare although access from Castle Douglas or Dumfries is much better. I found some difficulty in reversing the caravan into the pitch due to the stepped pitches and width of laneway but got there in the end. I like to pay ASAP on arrival but found difficulty in doing this. Ended up seeing owner after kids were settled for the night, which might that they all woke up again. Overall, beautiful area to get away from it all, and the kids loved the sheep!

Dark sky site.

We stayed one night in early November and had the site to ourselves. The pitches were all hard standings and had lovely peaceful views across fields and bracken moorland. It was a cold clear night and wonderful for stargazers, we felt that we were the only humans for miles. The owners live further down the track out of sight of the campsite. The showers and loos were functional but very cold the night we stayed. I loved the sense of isolation but my partner didn't but thats life. Vist this site for dark skies and a feeling of peace and space.

scenic views

great views and peaceful location. handy for the Galloway Forest Park (and for star spotting if you want). We went for one night and stayed for two as it was so scenic, with autumn colour all around. There were four hardstandings and very good toilet and showers separately for male and female. And friendly owners. what more could you want?
