Beautiful CL site

We’ve just spent a night at this peaceful and beautiful site in lovely countryside. Booking was online and very easy, we didn’t see anyone on arrival but that suits us fine. Beautifully kept pitches and surrounding area. Very quiet too. Will definitely be back

A 5 STAR CL

One of the best CL's we have stayed on, staff were very friendly and the site is very well kept. The cafe is still closed due to covid, but this did not bother us at all. The site is close to Rutland Water and Oakham, if you fancy a couple of hours sight seeing or walking. We will be returning to the site and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the CL to other members.

A quite site.

We stayed at this site for 7 nights, on our arrival no one contacted us to make sure we were OK, in fact we did not see anyone for the whole length of our stay. It is a very quiet site we were the only ones there, the park is closed the laundry room is closed and no toilets, because of coved, which I can understand the reason for this. No information boards in case you have an emergency. A site we might go back to when coved is over, but not before. The Bull pub have excellent meals, and a community shop within walking distance.

A quiet site

On the whole this site was amazingly quiet. At night all you heard was the occasional owl. This is a very pleasant CL. The 5 hard standing pitches slope slightly towards the road, but by going nose in with our camper van we didnt need levellers. The road between the pitches is narrow, so when the site is full, manoeuvring room is limited, especially for longer caravans. Book on line, select your pitch - you need to search out the map on the website. We booked pitch 5, next to the water tap, which suited us as we could fill the van without moving it! Payment in advance. You get an email with arrival instructions. You turn up and pitch. We didnt see anyone in charge of the site, just a member of staff doing some garden maintenance. You are given a phone number to call if there is a problem. This was all absolutely fine. Grey water goes into the hedge. The site is in the grounds of a residential establishment. There is also a CS the other side of the main entrance. The country park, kids playground and cafe were all still closed because of the vulnerability of the residents. The laundry was also closed. On the site of the CL are two lodges. For our first couple of days there were two separate families, and that was fine. Then two linked families arrived, with a number of children, and visitors. It was then noisier during the day, and the kids (and adults) were playing on the CL area. This included a model plane getting stuck on top of our van. None of it was really a problem, if the country park had been open there would have been somewhere else to play. This just made me drop a couple of stars in Peace & Tranquility, and overall rating. We would certainly have no issue with using the site again.

Nice site, shame about the CEO

Nice site with easy access. The adjacent country park is great for dog walking and bird watching. Not great for TV reception and it's difficult to align a satellite dish through the adjacent tall trees. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the CEO who is surly, churlish and unhelpful. He probably needs reminding what makes paydays possible.

Peace and Quiet

Well kept site, grounds are great and if you have children there is lots of space for them to play while you have a well earned brew at the on site cafe. We will be back again as still have loads to see in area.

One of the best CL's - what more could you ask for!

Easy access to the site – use the left hand entrance which leads directly to a large car park. Unusually there is both a Camping & Caravan CS and a Caravan & Motorhome Club CL on the same site. The entrance to both are clearly marked – the entrance to the CL is on the right as you enter The Lodge Trust car park - follow the clearly signed directions which lead you onto the CL field. The entrance to the CS is straight ahead then turn left to enter the CS field. The main difference between the two sites is that the CL has 5 large hardstanding pitches with large lawned areas to relax once set up whereas the CS pitches are on grass. The CL hardstanding pitches have 16 amp electric hook up points, are all flat and level and each are clearly marked with posts and pitch numbers. When we made our reservation we were allocated a pitch which we found to be excellent, both in space as well as being easy to access, even for a large twin axle caravan such as our Buccaneer Schooner. The CL is very attractively laid out, with flower and shrub borders as you enter the CL field. There is also a wooden gate leading onto an adjacent playing field plus a gravel path which takes you around the perimeter of the field – good for a stroll before turning-in for the evening! Within the grounds there is a café with inside / outside seating plus an information point and book exchange which are in the same building. A separate building contains a laundry (limited open times) and where the Elsan and recycling bins are also situated. There are several wooden chalets for hire – ideal for those members who have family and friends who do not own a caravan or motorhome. We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the site - we will no doubt return at some future date. Finally local attractions include a number of very attractive villages with thatched houses, flower displays etc. For those who like cycling and walking, Rutland Water is only a short distance (bike hire available) plus the area is surrounded by many quiet lanes and bridleways in which to explore.

Highest of recommendations for this wonderful & unique CL. Superb adventure play ground including zip wire, woodland walk & cycle path! Lovely cafe serving delicious food and very helpful, friendly staff. Really couldn't ask for more! Almost didn't leave a review as would like to keep it a secret ;)

EXCELLENT SITE as always!

Just returned from our annual May Day Bank Holiday weekend visit to The Lodge Trust. This is a fabulous CL so well kept, peaceful, tranquil, AND there is a super cafe on site for drinks and snacks. The location of the site is ideal for visiting Rutland Water, Oakham Stamford etc. and the many wonderful villages in the area with there magnificent cottages / houses. The site facilities are kept to a very high standard. There is a laundry available for CL users. wifif is very good. The play area and parkland on site are super for any young members of the family and will keep them entertained for a long time. An area with lot's to offer. We shall be back again next year and cannot wait!

Relaxing long weekend

This is a lovely peaceful site with the added bonus of a restaurant. On our arrival we sampled the coffee and cake then on Saturday morning we met some family members for a delicious breakfast. The restaurant is beautifully clean, bright and the welcome we received was warm. There is plenty of walking with a variety of routes but as they are not particularly well maintained/signposted an OS map or better still a GPS system is needed. The roads are not too busy so any roadwork is quite safe, unusual even in the countryside these days! For those who are less able to walk then there are some lovely grounds to explore with some super apparatus to use if one has young children, plenty of opportunity to burn off surplus energy and work up an appetite. We would definitely visit again.
