The Classic CL

We have been staying on Claire & Tim's CL almost every year since it opened and that in itself speaks volumes. There will always be the odd visitor with the griping hobby and the one here, referred to the time of our own stay this year, which was during the hottest, driest period in a long time; the fire risk was high and the use of a firepit was definitely a no-go. We were not surprised that Tim needed to intervene and, knowing Tim well now, this would not have been done lightly. Tim; rude? Never! The same visitors were also seen dragging quite large, dead branches out of the shrubbery with which to feed this fire; totally without permission. Need I say more? This is truly the classic CL and I cannot recommend it more highly.

Regularly visit the Sidings

We have been caravanning for over 50 years and the Sidings is one of the CLs we now regularly visit. Claire.and Tim always give us a warm welcome Its location offers us a wide range of options to keep us active, including easy distance to the North Norfolk coast, easy to get to the Norwich Park and Ride, walking and cycling out of the site and straight out onto the Marriott Way. And it has the best free WiFi on any CL we have stayed at. This years visit was different. We hate to say it but it was just too hot and we just had to hide from the sun. We heard many fire engines dashing to their next emergency. Fortunately Tim does not allow open fires so despite the very dry grass we we felt as safe as we could hope. Of course we keep this CL on our list to return to

One of our "go to" CLs

We've been using this CL for a few years and despite a previous review, have always found Tim and Clare to be friendly and welcoming hosts. The site is grass and yes, there are rabbit holes and droppings as there are on some of the main club sites, Incleboro Fields to name but one. No facilities, but recycling and good WiFi. The site is ideally situated for visiting the coast, the broads, or Norwich. It has the benefit of being right next to Marriots Way, ideal for cyclists and dog walkers. Cawston has a great little pub, and also the lovely deli "All things nice" where you can have breakfast should you wish. A good local shop/post office, and fuel station. We will return.

What a great site

We came here because of the proximity to the Marriotts way. Great cycling and great visits to villages "en route". we booked for 4 nights but it wasnt enough! stayed for 5 and would have stayed longer but site was full. I'm not surprised! Owner was very helpfull and anxious to ensure we had a great stay. People in surrounding villages/shops/pubs very friendly. Couldnt wish for a better site. Will definitely return.

Sadly spoiled

We chose this site because of the proximity to causton village, it was a lovely village and excellent meals at the bell public house, however the site was not what we expected the grass was full of rabbit holes and rabbit droppings we pitched up and found someone had tipped blue toilet waste at the edge of the pitch😞 and didn’t meet the owner until 9 pm 1st night when he jumped on us literally quite abruptly saying we had killed the grass!! We had lit a small fire on a tripod fire pit , we did put it where the grass was already dead … and there was already lots of dead patches, he was very rude to us we were very apologetic even though we had checked already prior to lighting it that we were allowed to, no where did the site mention we could not light a fire. It did put abit of a damper on our evening. We checked the grass the next morning and it was absolutely fine. So I would not be returning to this site because of the attitude from the site owner.

A Little Gem

Recently stayed at the site. I strongly advise you to follow the direction as given in the handbook. Easy access to all the services and also onto the dog walk, Owners Tim and Claire were very friendly. Good meals available in the local pubs. Will definitely add this site to the list of favourites.

Ideal cycling base

We have just returned from a lovely long weekend at this site. I initially chose it because of its proximity to the Marriott Way, but sadly the section between Cawston and Aylsham is badly overgrown with nettles and brambles & we weren't prepared to take a chance on the opposite direction being any clearer so only used it once. However, there are plenty of quiet country lanes in the area offering scenic cycle routes. The site itself is peaceful, secluded and secure. There is some daytime traffic noise from the road through the village, but it quietens down during the evening. The local rabbit population do a good job of keeping the grass well trimmed - just watch out for their burrows near the recycling bins! Being surrounded by trees and hedges there are no big views from your pitch, but it has the advantage of making the site quite a suntrap. We didn't try the village pub, but our neighbours did & reported that they'd had a delicious, straightforward pub meal. If you want something fancier (especially if steak is your thing) try The Ratcatchers about a mile outside the village.

PAUL/ELAINE

Being keen traffic free cyclists this site is one of the best situated we've stayed on being right next to the Marriott way( easiest access via village hall) very well kept by a lovely couple Tim & Claire at a very reasonable price looking forward to a return visit sometime.

If cycling is your thing this is the place to book

This CL is right on the Marriots way cycle path We used this site in 2019 in a really hot spell the grass was yellow it was glorious out each day cycling the trail It was a unique entry system here where you phone a number given to you by the owner while outside the gates and it recognises your number and the gates open for you. We will certainly use this CL again Absolutely no complaints here Fully Recommended
