What a great CL!

I stayed here for 2 nights in late May 2022 in my 6.5m motorhome. What a great site, well thought out, beautifully kept and hosted by a very pleasant owner. Each pitch is separated by trees, the CDP is easily accessible as is the fresh water. Booking was easy and access instructions clear and well described. 4G on my mobile, which I use to stream to the TV, was 40mbs on average and the terrestrial TV reception was brilliant. The access road is fine but take care as it's single track and is used by others but there is room to pass on the short route to the CL. There's a great bus service to Nottingham: £4 return and every 15 minutes from 300 yards away. Thanks for a lovely stay, see you again!

Calming and relaxed site with genial host

Excellent location to enjoy some peace and tranquility in company of feathered friends. Beautifully maintained and managed. Genial host is a font of information for all those interested in local history, bird life and cider making. I can’t recommend too strongly

Best thought out CL ever

Great site off a busy road but you'd not know it it is so quiet and peaceful ...it is the best thought out site we have ever experienced ...each caravan has it's own grassed large bay with shrubs and trees around and a large turning circle of woodland ...so the site is full of birds and butterflies Mr lamin is very helpful and welcoming we used tophouse as a 1st and last stop on the journey from Durham to Cornwall...great spot off the A1

Really do not want to tell everyone about this Oasis!!

Its a spot on 5 pitch beautifully kept CL in a completely peaceful location. Everything you need is there, individual marked out large pitches, owners could not be more helpful. Open a bottle, sit back and watch the birds.

Quite Nice CL

Stayed for 4 nights recently. Everything was as expected based upon the previous reviews I had read before going. Its main advantage for us was the frequent bus service to Nottingham and Mansfield, with the bus stop being at the bottom of the lane leading to the CL. We were on pitch 4 which received good sunshine until mid afternoon, but did back onto the rather busy lane (7am - 11pm mainly), so no sleeping problem at night. The Cls main disadvantage was the single track lane. It was a lot busier than we expected, even though its mentioned by previous users. We also met 2 vehicles during our arrival which meant squeezing the caravan up against the uncut hawthorn hedge, as neither oncoming vehicle offered to reverse back to a passing place. Hence we would not return for this reason only.

Pleasant little hideaway haven

Just back from 3 nights here. A nice site, feels very secluded despite it's proximity to the A60. You can hear the traffic but it was not too bad and we barely noticed. Bestwood Country Park can be accessed from the site, about a 15-20 min walk to get in. The country lane beside the site and up to the park is surprisingly busy during the day and very narrow so you will need to take care if walking, or driving for that matter. You can drive up and park at the t-junction which would shorten your walk into Bestwood. A lovely site though, convenient location and well set out. We did very little but relax and chill. We did have some minor issues with ants despite making sure we did nothing to attract them, with some getting into the van and a serious looking nest over the drinking tap which was resolved with a hot kettle of water. Did not hamper us too much but was a little annoying at times. If you are in this area I would recommend this site and if we are ever this way again I would be happy to visit once more. Thank you.

A lovely site

My wife and I stayed here during last weekends bank holiday and found the site just perfect. Access to the site off the quiet lane was great as it had a really wide gate. The pitches were divided by trees to give you privacy and the surrounding trees protected our awning from any wind. The waste disposal facility was simple but very effective in that you can simply remove a light cover and tip your waste into it without having to lift your cassette off the ground. As we arrived late, John greeted us the following morning with a smile and a leaflet describing the local amenities. We have put this on our list of sites that we would be very happy to return to.

A place to relax

A very quiet and peaceful place to spend some time, we had booked for 2 days but ended up staying for 4, and will no doubt be going again. The owners was very attentive and the site is very well kept and well laid out with trees strategically placed to give some degree of privacy to each pitch. The site is not far from the main road which has frequent bus services into both Nottingham and Mansfield.

Useful February bolt hole

It is good to find CL's which open all year. Yes you have to pay winter rates - but I understand the electric usage argument. Note, that the farmhouse is passed as you drive down the road, with the site itself a field away up the road. We quite like this, but it is easy to pull the car over - if walking is a problem, The challenge here was when I went to pay (only there for the weekend), was finding where to go,. You need to go all the way around to the front of the house (facing the main road), I abandoned our first effort, but somebody directed me second time. When we got back to the van, a leaflet had been left, which would have made this clear. The pictures of the site look better than you'd expect in February - so it's difficult to comment on that. The site though is well laid out. It was in good condition despite it being winter and both nights there were three vans on site. We used the hard standing nearest the gate which also was very welcome. Would I use again if in the location - Yes

Nice little site spent thee nights there, has got all you need , water , waste disposal ( no recycling available it all goes in one local council large commercial bin} price includes electric. No problem with noise from lane behind although it was possible to get a slight hum from the distant main road. Would use again
