A great find

This CL is local to us and the owners have worked hard to make it meet their own expectations. Great position, well maintained facilities and the picnic tables and eggs fresh from the farm a nice touch. Relaxed welcome and dog friendly, the CL is in lovely countryside and villages to explore and amble through. Will enjoy returning to this one soon.

what more could cl users wish for

We stayed in Aug 14 for 10 days. Arrived to a well manicured lawn. The view facing forward is smashing, enticing you to walk the hill. Access to the canal is a small walk down the hill. The services and I am critical are fine with the service point  having ongoing work to immprove it further.  It is a covered area split to accomodate loo emptying one end with tap and hose and grey emptying the other, with a sink in the process of being installed. The access road to the farm is no problem unless you expect to be isolated, with only odd vehichles at reasonable speed, accessing the farm. For a leave your car and walk cl it is great, walk to pub on public footpath, various walks and Avon ans Kennet canal. Just to sit and enjoy the view it is great.  Owners very helpfull and accommodating, it will become one of our regulars.

great location and very welcoming

We have just spent a fantastic weekend at Totteridge Farm. The location is superb being just a few miles from the town of Marlborough. Caroline greeted us as we arrived and made us feel very welcome. The site has just has EHU installed making it just that bit better. The view out of the caravan window is full of hills and fields coupled with no kids but dogs allowed it is perfect! Picnic tables are also made available for you to move next to your caravan. The site is lovely and peaceful all bar the odd agricultural vehicle passing. We pitched up next to a couple that have been going there for 30 years. They love it, and now we know why. We were given personal tour of their vineyard and also purchased some wine. The white is superb!!! Good job guys!

Our first CL adventure

A very peaceful site with a lovely view across to the Vale of Pewsey.  We had the pick of the 5 well spaced pitches shared with one other van the weekend we were there.  Excellent location, very close to Pewsey and Marlborough with good road links.  Owners very helpful and we tried the fresh eggs and bottle of white from their vineyard both of which were excellent. They have even placed wooden tables / benches adjacent to the pitches which was very welcome for the al fresco dining.  Note that as you enter the site, it is not the house to the left where you check in, but continue to the right through to the farmhouse where you will receive a warm welcome. Recommended.

Wet April Stay

While much of the previous review is true, we were surprised how much traffic used the drive which passes the CL you can see in the photo. This spoils the peace of the site as there is no fence and we felt like we were in a goldfish bowl. In my opinion this makes it unsuitable for children as they would need to be tethered! Also when booking we were sent an email with attachment clearly stating 6.50 a night, however we were charged 7.00. We had very wet weather but the ground stayed OK and we managed to drive off without issue. If you like TV or radio we found the reception poor. This is an OK CL  but for us the traffic spoilt our experience.

Comment from Community Manager:

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I just wanted to add a quick comment to advise that I have been in touch with the owners of this site as they were concerned about the comment about the peace being spoiled. They have advised me that this site is on a working farm and is located beside a private farm lane, not a busy road and while there is some occasional farm traffic the site is peaceful and safe.  There are no fences as these would obstruct the enjoyment of the view. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review.

A tranquil place in Wiltshire

We have just come back from a wonderful weekend at Totteridge Farm where we were warmly welcomed by Mutley and Caroline. We saw the article on the farm in the Caravan Club Magazine and as it is just a short distance from our home in Swindon and ideal for a weekend away, we thought we would try it out. It's a picturesque peaceful location overlooking hills and valleys, with a railway line running through the bottom of the valley in the distance. I mention this because we were treated to the sight and sound of a steam train on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning as we sat having our first cup of tea of the day, we witnessed a couple of birds of prey immediately in front of our motor home, which briefly perched on the fence in front before flying away. The site itself is a large grassed area on the approach to the farm, which has plenty of taps so you can top up your water and good waste and grey water disposal points plus recycling and waste bins. You can also purchase fresh eggs from a hutch close by, where you are trusted to just leave your money. It's so peaceful and at night, with a clear sky, I can imagine that you would have a perfect view of the stars as there's virtually no light pollution. We arrived after 3 weeks of dry weather followed by 2 days of constant rain and the ground was understandably a little soggy. With Mutley's help our friends had parked their van and when it was our turn, he gave us clear instructions on how to approach the wet ground and we found ourselves perfectly positioned to enjoy the view. As it was still a bit soggy on Sunday, Mutley kindly pulled us of the grass using his tractor. This is great because it means you can use this site at any time of the year regardless of the weather conditions. Away from the site, you are close to the Kennet and Avon Canal and can enjoy lovely walks in either direction. We did a circular walk using the ordnance survey map along the canal to Pewsey and then out through Pewsey towards Milton Lilbourne, joining a track a bit further on that eventually took us back into the village of Milton Lilbourne. Caroline also informed me that you can walk to the top of the hill facing the site as there is a footpath visible. As it appears from a distance to be quite high, this could be a challenge! If you want to eat out, there is the Royal Oak at Wootton Rivers which is really nice and a number of pubs in Pewsey itself, as well as a wine bar, Indian and Chinese Restaurants and takeaways. We can't praise this site enough. Mutley and Caroline are themselves owners of a motor home and travel extensively in it so they know what we want when we want to get away from it all. In a way, I'm almost reluctant to post this review as it means that we might struggle to get a pitch in the future if more people are attracted to it after reading our review! Although we only spent a weekend, it is so perfectly situated so that you could spend much longer there, as there's plenty to see and do.
