Wonderful stop

We stayed at Welltrough for 2 nights on our way to Scotland. The whole site organisation was exceptional which gave us complete peace in beautiful surroundings - thank you.

Fantastic site

Stopped here for two nights to visit friends. East access from M6. Owner had given very good directions and instructions for entry. Amazing setting with fabulous views. CL with an adjacent site with hard and grass standings. Also four glamping pods with hot tubs. Entered via a secure entry system through farm. We had a serviced pitch but there are showers and toilets. Walks on farmland are beautiful and so well signposted and grass cut. Through ancient hedgerows with huge oak trees and lots of wildlife. Owner lives on site and is most helpful. Alpacas and goats on farm but it is very quiet. Amazing views of Jodrell Bank telescope which is open for visitors, on Saturdays at the moment. A couple of pubs and shop’s within a few miles.

Top site

Stayed for 4 nights, site was well signed from the road. Electric coded security gates into farm and site. The CCMC part of the site was all hard standing serviced pitches and good sized. Great views and a cut grass 3km walk around the farm with 2 signed tracks leading off to the red lion pub and the black swan pub also a great view of Jodrell Bank telescope above the tree line. Total peace and quiet and great for star gazing. We didn't use the facilities so can't comment on them. Plenty of places to visit only 30 mins to Manchester, Chester nearest town Holmes Chapel. We walked the local area using a good network of footpaths and visited the Arboretum at Swettenham well worth a visit. We would highly recommend this site and will visit again.

Scenic and peaceful

Lovely access from a nice road up a smooth farm road and entrance via security gates. As stated by previous reviews this is not just a cl, but retains the cl feeling. No road noise just peace and quiet. I think every pitch has a fantastic view. Great farm walk, well maintained by the owners, which we walked every day with the dogs. Large clean pitches with fresh water and grey waste. Only slight downer is the electrics, yes we knew before hand 10amp but did not expect the several times we had to reset it when we were not switching on something. Yes we will be back as it is a gem.

Outstanding!

What a gem! Although a CL, it’s actually a bit bigger, with spaces for non members too. Lovely mown walk around the farm with easy access to two pubs. Lovely seeing the alpacas, goats and Jodrell Bank! Really lovely site, beautifully maintained.

Just a nice place

As other reviews have already said, this is a delightful place. There is a cl with 5 places reserved for Carvan Club members only, with a further dozen or so pitches all hard standing and about 5 pitches that a grass, all fully serviced. There are two areas with a well provided shower cabin and toilet cabin. There is another cabin with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Toilets were beautifully clean and whole place is well tended. The site is peaceful and quiet with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. NIck works incredibly hard to maintain this site to a high standard. He has taken the trouble to mow a path making a lovely walk around the farm and has even mowed a shortcut path to the local pub, The Red Lion - if you see him there, buy him a drink!

Second visit

This was the second visit to Welltrough, and it didn't disappoint. Clean, well run, stunning views and fully serviced. Nick is always helpful and keeps the place tip top. No doubt we will visit again soon.

Far reaching views.

Arrived at this lovely adult only caravan site recently for a week which is situated in a beautiful position in the Cheshire countryside with far reaching views over Cheshire and Staffordshire. Booking was easy via their website with information regards payment and pitching instructions including security numbers for the gates. It is not your usual CL as there are several different areas with lovely views, unusually the actual CL part had 6 pitches all of which were occupied so we went on one further round which I thought was actually better as there were only 3 in this area. All pitches were fully serviced with free wi fi, at that moment in time were £20 Sunday to Friday and weekends £25. There were facilities to use but we didn't use them but understand they were excellent. Levelling blocks were needed as slightly sloping but not too bad. We didn't actually meet the owner although we did have contact details if needed. There is a fantastic walk around the perimeter of the farm (about 3 Km) with paths leading off to 2 excellent dog friendly pub/restaurants. The owner has cut a wonderful wide grass border with signs to the pubs, best dog walk I have ever experienced in the 20 years of caravanning - it is all level and easily accessed. Whilst there we enjoyed some great walks nearby including Tatton Park, Biddulph Valley Way (a disused railway line), Brereton Heath and also highly recommend visiting the Anderton Boat lift near Northwich - all within 30 minute drive. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Peace and quiet, even when full.

We've just returned from 5 nights here. Several people had recommended this site to us, they were not wrong. It is a lovely, peaceful site, overlooking miles of countryside. We chose a grass pitch and loved the long reaching views over the countryside to the hill beyond. Other areas of the site overlooked the alpacas, goats and Jodrell Bank in the distance. The farm dog walk is excellent, if a little hilly, but without the hills you don't get the fantastic views, great if you are fit, but not so good if your fitness or mobility is restricted. The site itself is immaculately kept, and well thought out. Nick and his team are always busy, but never intrusive. Unfortunately, the weather was not too kind to us during our stay, though we still enjoyed it and will return.

Happy last minute booking

We needed a short notice pitch as we had cancelled our booked CL as it was not somewhere we wanted to go back too. Very happy to find Welltrough Farm. Close enough to M6 but set in peaceful countryside and a relaxed feeling to the place. The CL is part of a larger set up. Each pitch area has 5 fully serviced hardstandings with a toilet and shower. Ours also has a dog shower and further up there is a shed with washing machines. Pitches are well spaced out and level. Well most are level. The site was almost full when we arrived and we had to pitch on one of a few very unlevel spaces but manageable with planks under the wheel and blocks under the legs. The farm dog walk is good. Nice views from the pitches. Red lion pub is shut on a Monday and the Black Swan busy. Advise booking for the Black Swan if a gastro meal ££££ is what you are looking for. Recommended Welltrough as a stop off or longer stay albeit £25 for weekend stays is the higher end of what we would pay for a pitch. Worth it if we had been on a level pitch I think. Grass pitches available but I believe at the same price. Will be back and maybe for more than a stopover.
