Excellent Site

We used this site as a one night stop over en route to the Lakes. Very easy access from the M6 and although we never saw the owner, the on line booking system worked just fine. I can only reiterate all the previous positive comments with just a couple of observations. Be aware that the electricity is only 10 amp and secondly, even though we were booked onto the CL, we were actually sited on the 'other' site. Once booked, the T's and C's inform you that there is no guarantee that you will be on the CL (they are, in my opinion, the better pitches although the remainder are very good). So it begs the question - did we stay on an 18 pitch CL or did we stay on a commercial site? I'm still not sure.

Great CL site great location

As its a working farm we were left to check in ourselves as per instructions given in email, although its a CL site there are about 17 plots all fully serviced and hard standing. The location is peaceful and relaxing with wonderful scenery and Jodrell Bank Telescope in the distance. There is a fantastic 3 km walk round the farm which is well marked out which we took 2 hrs to get round enjoying the scenery and the harvesting going on. The Red Lion Pub is a short 10 mins walk across the field which we went to for a long afternoon lunch, the Real Ales were well keep and the food excellent Pub grub with a touch of style. I did read some report about the friendliness of the Landlord but we found very friendly and helpful with local places of interest and a Taxi we need to visit the Bluedot Festival at Jodrell Bank the following day. A couple of things to note we 1 the farm shop, we were expecting a shop with various product but you had to see Nick the owner and he would get you what you wanted from the freezer, we had 2 fantastic steaks but with Nick selling all his beef I'm not sure the shop is going to continue so contact him first so you aren't disappointed there is nothing for you to BBQ, as mentioned above we were going to the Bluedot Festival at Jodrell Bank which Nick said was a 20 mins walk away, we went to check that out the day before and it took us 1 1/2 hrs to the main gate so on the day got a taxi there and back. All in all a excellent stay great site, lovely walks and plenty in the area which can all be found in the information shed. Milk and eggs can also be collected and there is a number to text to order your papers for the following day.

Great CL Site, easy Access to M6.

W have stayed here twice, site is immaculate and has great views over the countryside. Great Dog walks from site. The CL site is next to a small site run by the same owners but it was very quiet. The CL has its own WC and Shower, but you can also use the WC and Shower on the small site next door. All pitches are Serviced and fairly level. Macclesfield is 10-15 mins drive away, Jodrell Bank Telescope about 5 mins drive.

Very good but not a typical cl

We have used this site before and since our last visit more caravan pitches have been added, but still overall the site is very good. Don’t know how this site can class it’s self as a cl as in the “cl” fenced off area 6 vans were there!! All the facilities are a good standard and all the pitches are fully serviced and well maintained. For us the cl shower needs updating but you can use any of the 2 others. The owner has done a really good job with the whole site and is obviously expanding into pods, huts etc. as well. Good price for this quality site. Not really a typical quiet 5 van cl but we will use it again.

Wow!

We booked the site as a one night stopover en route home from Scotland and to catch up with friends locally. We were suitably surprised upon arrival on site. Its exceptionally well laid out and the services are fab. Its close to local services and the farm/dog walk which is approx. 2 miles in length was really enjoyable and clearly marked. Jodrell Bank telescope could be seen from our pitch, and Nick who is very helpful offers local eggs/milk and newspapers. Next time we shall stay for more than one night and visit some local attractions.

Another fantastic stay at this beautiful site

We like this site so much, and being fairly local, we have stayed several times. Spur of the moment, phoned Nick, yes he had spaces so a weekend in February 2019 was booked. We had been there when the alpacas arrived so we wanted to see how they were settling, having formed an interest in them since friends of ours had started a herd. Again absolutely spot on, lovely views, once the mist cleared and Nick as always friendly and helpful. Sorry Nick we cleared you out of steak but your meat is beautiful, will be buying when you are restocked. This site is a gem, we really relax here and have good stays whatever the weather. Have seen some great sunsets from here. Every time we arrive Nick has built/installed something else and the dog showers are great.

What’s not to like

CL come campsite with terrific views from just about every pitch. For £20pn you can’t go wrong .. fully serviced pitch with WiFi and a choice of 2 dog walks . We’ve been twice and have a third booked , it’s over a 4hr drive for us and it’s worth it. 2 elsan points and 2 porta showers for 18 vans .. fantastic.

How can this be a CL?

This is a lovely and well maintained caravan site though with few facilities for the 24 or so hard standing pitches. Clearly from the photos on the web page it was once a CL but recently has been extensively expanded so if members are looking for a 5 pitch CL then this will not fit the bill. We chose this site based on it being a 5 pitch CL with facilities so we were very disappointed.

Really Lovely but is it a CL site?

We have visited this site a few times and it is well laid out, very quiet and has absolutely stunning views from nearly every pitch. There is a good farm walk on site and lovely sense of space overall. We didn't use the portaloo or showers and agree with another reviewer that £20 is enough to pay per night so shouldn't really have an extra charge for a shower. It is a site we will use again but do have an issue with it being called a CL site. There are approximately 20 + caravans on site, broken into different sections but nevertheless larger than you expect if you think you are going to a CL site. Is this a Caravan Club issue as they have obviously approved this classification, but it is misleading? We only ever use CL sites and purposely want to be based at smaller 5 van sites, this isn't one of those but is lovely in many other ways.

Brilliant CL

This is a superb CL immaculately kept and with great views for six miles or so across the valley. We watched Lapwings swooping and dancing across the fields each evening. We could even see Jodrell Bank telescope in the opposite direction. We found the WC and shower to be clean and adequate, housed in a plastic WC pod and shed. The site even has a washing machine and tumble drier! This site is so well kept that I would rate it as one of the bets CL’s we have ever stayed on. For all of our three night stay it was very quiet and peaceful helped no doubt by the fact that it is an Adults only site. Being retired we have had our turn of noisy kids! We found Nick to be a very helpful and pleasant person. However being a Farm site the entrance drive and way through farm buildings can get a bit muddy and uneven particularly when its wet.
