Happy last minute booking

We needed a short notice pitch as we had cancelled our booked CL as it was not somewhere we wanted to go back too. Very happy to find Welltrough Farm. Close enough to M6 but set in peaceful countryside and a relaxed feeling to the place. The CL is part of a larger set up. Each pitch area has 5 fully serviced hardstandings with a toilet and shower. Ours also has a dog shower and further up there is a shed with washing machines. Pitches are well spaced out and level. Well most are level. The site was almost full when we arrived and we had to pitch on one of a few very unlevel spaces but manageable with planks under the wheel and blocks under the legs. The farm dog walk is good. Nice views from the pitches. Red lion pub is shut on a Monday and the Black Swan busy. Advise booking for the Black Swan if a gastro meal ££££ is what you are looking for. Recommended Welltrough as a stop off or longer stay albeit £25 for weekend stays is the higher end of what we would pay for a pitch. Worth it if we had been on a level pitch I think. Grass pitches available but I believe at the same price. Will be back and maybe for more than a stopover.

Fantastic caravan CL

Fabulous CL with a further dozen caravan pitches close by. All have wonderful views of the countryside or Alpacas/ goats grazing in the field. Wonderful dog walks on a mown area around the farmland with well signed directions to two good pubs on the route. Warm dog wash on the site so no muddy paws in the van later. Great view of Jodrell Bank in the distance. We will definitely be booking again

Brilliant site

First stay at Welltrough and cannot wait to go back. Absolutely perfect site for us. In addition to 5 CL pitches, there are 12 more pitches which are all equally as good and well spaced out as each other - no panic over getting left with the duff pitch here! Really spacious pitches all with great views - either Teggs nose and the Derbyshire hills or the alpacas and jodrell bank telescope. We were surrounded by beautiful countryside, lots of privacy, very peaceful despite being full. The alpacas and goats were just so cute and funny - we didnt bother with the TV as they kept us amused. Communication with owner absolutely spot on. there is a mowed grass walk around the perimeter of the farm which is about 2 miles long and is brilliant - takes you out into lovely scenery and even better there are little paths that the owner has cleared leading to 2 great pubs. No need to even drive. Had meal at Black swan and it was really good and very friendly. Access very easy, no single track roads and nice wide drive/entrance, very well sign posted throughout. All immaculately clean inc elsan, rubbish area etc. Serviced pitches and hardstanding really good. There are shepherds huts but they are well away so no noise or intrusion. There is genuinely not 1 negative thing I can say about Welltrough. The owner has worked really hard to make the perfect site and you can tell he really cares about his guests enjoying their stay.

If Carlsberg did caravan sites!

Stayed here for the May bank holiday weekend, and had a lovely relaxing stay. The site is incredibly well maintained, has outstanding views and is very peaceful. The CL is especially good for dogs, with a dog showering area and a well maintained farm walk. Can’t comment on the shower facilities, as they were closed due to COVID restrictions. Every pitch had good views of the country side and it was nice to see the Alpacas and goats. It was our first visit to this site, but definitely won’t be our last.

5 Star caravan site

Superb CL with large fully serviced hard standing pitches. Excellent views over the countryside. The owner, Nick, has created a great walk around the farm ideal for dog lovers. Safe, secure and quiet site kept in immaculate condition. We will certainly be back again.

Must give this site a visit

Site well laid out, some pitches are sloping so be prepared, fully serviced pitches, the owner very helpful. Plenty to do in the area, shops not far away, but there are many local walks, the farm walk is very pleasant, the views from the site are amazing and the site is very quiet so do you need to leave the pitch.

Another great visit

Stayed here a few times before on the cl are and always found the site spot on and would be hard pushed to want or expect anything more. Nick works hard to keep the site in tip top condition. This time our visit was during the COVID virus in August and Nick had shut the toilet/shower facilities and removed all gates so so don’t have to touch anything on a day to day basis. As all the pitches are full service that’s another bonus to keep isolated. Well done Nick. If there is a negative and I know it’s a working farm but the road access through the farm building area is in poor condition and could do with improving. After saying that we will be back.

Great week - even with unique UK weather

Great value for money. Superpitch, free wi-fi, wonderful views with ablutions. We want to return during the summer to get the full joy of being able to sit out, BBQ and chill. Only one slight niggle - it's a CL surrounded on two sides by other, equally spacious, excellent pitches, but these are part of the bigger site that has been developed in the last few years. All pitches have great views, but it's not just five band in someone's garden. That said, we hope to return on another pitch later in the season.

First Time Out

This was the first time out for our new motorhome. Our last time out in a caravan was in 2008! What an excellent site this is and I can support the positive remarks reviewed by another member. The owner was around and about during our stay ( mainly making preparations for a 3rd Glamping Pod!) You couldn’t want for anything more on this site. With a variety of different walks for the dog and an abundance of blackberries some of which we took home for the freezer, we had a very enjoyable few days. You can see why this CL is highly rated. For the first two days we had a pitch (not on the CL) which was in front of the dishwashing area. On occasions there was a smell emanating from the drain. On the 3rd day we moved to a vacant pitch on the CL which was picture perfect. Although both pitches were flat, they were both sloping and not level side to side which made levelling somewhat of a challenge! (Easier for a caravan than a motorhomes!) This is a very popular site so book well in advance.

Excellent Site

We stayed for 2 nights 8 & 9 Sept. It is a working farm, and, although there are signs with a contact number should you need to speak to someone, there was no one onsite and we were left to find a pitch and pay as per instructions given in the confirmation email, which was fine. Our first impression of the site was why on earth is it only a CL and not Affiliated. There are 5 or 6 CL plots which are cordoned off, and granted do have the best views on the site, however there are about 13 other plots all of which cost the same (£20pn) are a very good size, fully serviced and hard standing, and no matter where you are the views are amazing and the site is the most peaceful place we`ve ever stayed. The CL plots were all taken so we pitched up on plot 9, which was great, with a beautiful view and easy access to all facilities. There are several toilet and shower units, which are extremely clean with plenty of hot water, and even had music playing, and an information hut with an honesty fridge containing milk, eggs etc. The owner (Nick) has even supplies a coin operated washing machine and dryer, something I have never seen on any other CL, normally you`re lucky to have EHU, never mind anything else. I noticed in a previous review that there was a complaint that the EHU is only 10amp. We have large twin axle van, with lots of electric items and we had no problem at all, and the FREE internet was also sufficient, despite the site being almost full.. We walked to the local pub (Red Lion), and again Nick has gone above and beyond by mowing a path through his land, which is clearly marked, and despite the horrendous rain prior to our stay, was not boggy and only took 5 minutes to walk. The site is extremely well maintained and all the grassed areas are cut short and very neat. There are chickens, goats and alpacas (fenced in) on the site and they are delightful. This is one of the nicest, well kept sites we have ever stayed on, we would totally recommend it to anyone, and would like to thank Nick (who we bumped into in the pub on our first night) for a wonderful stay. As previously stated I also think that this site should be upgraded to Affiliated due to all the extras that Nick provides.
