A little peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings

This site was a delight from booking to arriving and for the duration of our stay, which sadly was only one night, Nick confirmed our booking and gave helpful tips on finding his site. Upon arrival it was clear where we should pitch and the views were breathtaking, we were blessed with some good weather which showed it off to its best. Our first task was to exercise our dogs and to our delight there was 3k a walk all around the farm that had been designated (with poo bins a plenty) There was a toilet facility and shower which my husband take advantage of and said it was super, lots of hot water, a place to put your clean clothes and all in all a fabulous site. Our pitch overlooked Jodrell Bank in the distance which was interesting. easy access from the M6 for our onward journey to the lakes. we will be back Nick!

Disappointing

It was easy to book on the website and we received an email confirmation with good information. We arrived on Friday late afternoon for a two night stay. On arrival we followed the signs and selected an available pitch as instructed in the email. We expected the owner to come and greet us, we didn’t see him all weekend and ended up trying to call him to pay before we left. He didn’t reply so we left the money with the farm house, not sure that is anything to do with the CL now. We have a motorhome with services on the drivers. In order to use the waste we couldn’t follow the suggested caravan awning layout. I would suggest that this CL is really designed for caravans, as if you couldn’t access the waste hole there isn’t a drive over grey water dump. Toilets are portacabin style, and the shower requires £1 coin, considering the CL is £20 I wouldn’t expect to pay for a shower. We have stayed in much better CLs for a lot less and with better facilities. I’m afraid we’ve marked this down as didn’t feel welcome, and if we had of had any issues the owner wasn’t contactable. The nearest pub The Red Lion doesn’t take dogs. We had a good meal in The Swettenham Arms.

A great site in an excellent location

I have been using this site since March as a base for my workplace which is less than 10 minutes drive. The layout of the site is great with all services on each (hardcore) pitch and on summer evenings the views are excellent. Even now as winter is approaching the site is dry and clean and makes it perfect for my working day need to be suited and booted. Definitely the best small site I have visited

Comment from the Club

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and we are so delighted you enjoy staying at Welltrough Hall Farm CL. For other peoples information (as we have had a couple of queries from members) judithandterry were not on the site for longer than the allotted 28 days but visited several times throughout the year. We hope this clears up any confusion.

Weekend Break

We have just come back from a weekend break at this CL. We've been looking for a CL that we can go to on a Friday when we finish work until Sunday/Monday am not too far to travel to and this ticked all the boxes so we've added this to our weekend break list. Clean, tidy site with fantastic views across open countryside and Jodrell Bank beyond. Has another site for 6 non-CL caravans and working towards increasing this on a field behind the CL site too. Has a rally field but all well organised so you are not tripping over each other. Has a shower block but not used as we have on-board facilities and also has a little shower for the pets after their jolts. Well worth a visit.

Best farm site we have been to

We used this site for a breather, on the way to the lakes, from E.Anglia. To say we were impressed by the site is an understatement, as we arrived. Views from the pitches, were brilliant, and spacing, although not secluded, was enough to give separation. The farm walks take in some lovely views, and we went round quite a few times while there. Toilet and shower are basic, but adequate. You can get two done in the shower, for the same coin, so double up, with changing and showering in turn. Locally, for us the walks were great, although the nearest pub to the site,( Red Lion ), did not accept dogs, and the host was far from amenable, when we visited. There is a far better reception/ale/dog friendly/food quality place within 3 miles that has been pub of the year. So head for the Swettenham Arms. ( The short cut down to the ford, is the best option as you approach, so look for the signs ) We WILL use this gem again.

A little gem

First time we have stayed at this CL and we're very impressed. Very tidy and well maintained site with the grass in between the hard standing pitches kept lovely and short. All the pitches are a good size and fairly flat. Good information room with washer and dryer, eggs and meats to purchase. Super pitch type fresh and waste water, depending on usage the water pressure can drop a little. Excellent free wi-fi and perfect tv reception.Very peaceful site with great views. Easy booking and excellent email information updates. The 4 star rating was because of the portaloo toilet and the £1 coin operated shower, surely at this price the shower should be included in the price.

Favourite Site

This is our favourite small site, it has stunning views from all pitches and has all the facilities you need. There is a water tap and waste drain on each pitch and the hard standing and grass are in perfect condition. Nick has generated a Farm Walk around his land which is perfect for adults and pets alike. It also leads to The Red Lion pub for some refreshment. There is a shop which sells a wide range of quality meats etc. Being in the centre of Cheshire there is plenty to do and the town of Homes Chapel is close by. Well worth a visit, if you can get in!!

SIMPLY STUNNING

If you want a CL that has just about everything then this is the site for you. Fully serviced pitches, showers and toilets. Good phone reception as well as satellite & digital TV reception. On top of this no matter what pitch your on you can be sure of a stunning view. This is a site that you can stay a week with ease. Nick the owner very friendly and knowledgeable, don't forget to take your BBC and try his farm assured beef from his on-site shop. Some of the pitches however have quite a slope so don't for get your chocks and rock pegs. Give it a try you'll not be disappointed, this is a site that you must follow the Site Directory Handbook directions. Remember to book as the pitches didn't stay vacant for long. We hope to return soon.

Should be on everyone's wish list

We have just returned from a few days at this amazing site and we're incredibly impressed. From the ease of booking, communication once booked and the welcome we received, all were outstanding. The site itself is in open countryside with wonderful views of the Peak District one way, and the impressive Lovell telescope at Jodrell the other. Not to mention a few cows. The pitches are hardstanding with electricity, water and drainage on each one. We use our own shower so this has become vital. There is also a dog shower and walk. There are lots of things to do in the area. We went to the Anderton Boat lift, Lion Salt works and Jodrell Bank. The Red Lion (walkable) and the Swettenham Arms are both worth a visit. The site is very quiet and peaceful, more so since its adults only. Not that we dislike children but ours are grown up now so we find adults only sites more relaxing. The site also sell meat and eggs, there is an Aldi not far away in Holmes Chapel. The site hasn't been open long so I suspect it's a bit of a well kept secret at the moment. We will certainly go back and if the visitors book is any guide so will most other people. We had no problems with water pressure so maybe the experience of an earlier reviewer was a one off.
