A hidden gem

The approach road is single track with passing places and at one stretch is 1 in 7, but having said that it is a very minor road and I've never encounted a problem. The site is small and part sloping, it is sheltered from the west being on the eastern side of Holme Fell, with some of the best views of any CL site we have stayed on. You look out over the West Pennines with the town of Kirby Lonsdale to the south behind which towers Ingleborough Hill north of that is Wernside and Craghill. For the walkers amongst you direct access from the site to Holme Park Fell which on it's western side gives uninterupted views of Morecombe Bay, from Blackpool to the south up to the Lakeland fells in the north. The area is stunningly beautiful, and well worth a visit, one word of warning it is a working farm and some noise can be expected, also being situated on a hill access to the toilet can be a bit of a trudge if you cannot manage steps. There are lots of pubs serving food in the surrounding villages but none within walking distance, the nearest village with a pub is Burton in Kendal five minutes by car, and numorous pubs and cafes in Kirby Lonsdale fifeteen minutes away.
