Excellent site and welcoming owners

Stayed at Whitecroft Farm just for 2 nights so we could have a Christmas shopping trip to Manchester. A lovely setting and ideal for Manchester with the train station just a few minutes away. Highly recommend this site.

I love this place!

I have stayed here a few times now in the past year and I love it. So peaceful. Good walks close by and driving distance from multiple villages to visits. Two different fields to pitch in. Electric is good, lots of space and other facilities are fine. Hosts make it very easy and quick to check in and pay.

A wonderful spot

This is a beautiful CL, with lots of space, and fabulous views. We booked the site as we had tickets to a football match in Manchester and it was simply perfect. The trains into Manchester run every 30 minutes or so and the last train from Piccadilly is 11:26pm, allowing plenty of time to return to the site after a visit to the theatre or an evening football match. There is a gorgeous walk from the site along the River Goyt into New Mills and back along the canal, and many other local paths. The nearest pub is a short walk up the bridle path. A train ride in the opposite direction takes you into The Peak District, to Edale, or further afield to Sheffield. This is definitely a site we will be returning to. I

Long Weekend at Whitecroft

Just returned from a few days at this CL. The directions and access to the CL were good. The site is situated just behind the farm buildings and is a large open field, with 3 hard standing pitches which were occupied when we arrived so we pitched in the field. The ground was remarkably firm so must drain reasonably well. There was no one around when we arrived but the facilities are easy to find. The site has a few picnic tables for visitors to use. The railway station is only a few minutes walk away which gives access to Manchester and Sheffield. Its fairly quiet with only the chickens and Canada geese to disturb the peace. We hope to use this CL again.

Drivers an enjoyable break

I have used this CL numerous times over 20 years and it has continued to deliver an enjoyable experience. Set in the Goyt Valley as it narrows to go through New Mills, it provides stunning views. It can be difficult tracking down the owners to book and pay. Site is a flat, well kept field which seems to drain well enough and with some hard standing, the appropriate water and waste points and EHU. You can shop at New Mills - walkable along the Goyt Way [allow 45 minutes] and Marple [allow an hour if walking along the Goyt Way]. Both provide good rail links to Manchester and Sheffield - New Mills also links to Buxton. Good bus services as well. You can walk along the Goyt Way, up the Sett Valley and on to Kinder Scout for walks across the moors. All walks include some rough terrain and steep hills. Derbyshire and Cheshire both easily accessible by car or motorhome. The peaceful idyll was broken at 4am when the cock crowed! A CL that I will continue to visit.

Nice Open Site

Nice large flat field where you can pitch wherever you want (subject to the length of your power lead). Entrance to the field and a short road inside is surfaced, heavier camper vans can be sure of some hard standing if only for their drive wheels. Farm setting with hens clucking round the vans. Helpful owner. Still £12 per night plus £1 for awning. Strines railway station is five minutes walk away with trains every two hours directly into Manchester Piccadilly or Sheffield. Nice walks in the area. A nice CL.
