Best 3 nights sleep I've had for a long time

OK, we messed up the arrival by going to the wrong site to start with, but a quick call to Whitehouse Farm put us back on track and within 30 minutes we had arrived at the correct place. The turn into the field is easily doable, although seems tight on first approach. We back onto one of 5 hand standing pitches, and had to park our car on the grass next to the van as there just wasn't enough room in front of it. Even with all 5 pitches full, the site is so very peaceful, and being adults only, helped. Each pitch has EHU, and the site has a tap for drinking water situated pretty close to the middle of the 5 pitches. There are 2 solar lights next to the tap but unfortunately these didn't seem to be working. The whole site is lovely and very dark during the night. In fact the only sound we could hear during all three nights was the sound of rain on the caravan. There is an Information shed which houses the recycling area, some books and info on local sights and places to visit, along with a very large map. There is also info in there on how to pay cash, and some envelopes to use if you are paying by cash. I'm a great fan of CL sites and I would rate this one in my favourite top 10 (so far). It's quiet, dark (at night), within easy driving distance of many attractions, surrounded by absolutely stunning scenery and only £20 a night. The only downside for me is that it's over 100 miles away.

Beautiful site, loved our stay.

What a well maintained and peaceful CL, A lot of hard work is put into this site. I loved the wildflower area and the recycling shed. Owner was a lovely and helpful lady. Only negative was the corner pitch is very tight for larger Motorhomes. Fantastic location for walking & cycling. Walkers can follow the public footpath next to the entrance, this takes you through the fields to the Tissington trail. Cyclists go out of the gate, turn left and left again onto the quiet road. You can either get onto the Tissington Trail via the bridge (approx 2 mins ride) or carry on up the hill to the next right hand turn (public footpath sign), go through a gate on your right and drop diwn via the woods. I would definitely return to this site again.

Perfect

We enjoyed this relaxing site that much we have booked another 2 trips. The pitch it’s self was plenty big enough and nice and tidy .We have an on board water tank so our hose didn’t stretch to the tap however our host let us borrow one of hers so problem solved. There were plenty of walks straight from the campsite , and we were literally a stone through away from the cycle route which went on for miles. Nice and quiet . The site isn’t far from nearby towns so it makes it a perfect location for sightseeing. If your in Derbyshire and you want a quiet small site look no further

Great week at Whitehouse Farm

We had a great week in March at Whitehouse Farm CL. Jean was very welcoming and supportive - advised us to delay our trip by two days whilst the snow and ice melted from their local roads, offered her address to receive a replacement water pump for us, and advised where to park our car (I found the hardstanding pitch not really long enough to fit both caravan (7.3m) and car and not wide enough to have car alongside (the ground was inevitably very soft due to snow melt)). Facilities were good. The locality is simply gorgeous for both walkers and cyclists and very quiet. Note: there is no cycle access from the local lane to the Tissington Trail unless you can carry your bike for the length of the access 'path'; we continued up the lane and turned left down the B5054 for Hartington to get on the trail.

A little gem with wonderful views

A pretty little site with wonderful views (we stayed on the first pitch). Lovely walks from the site, as long as you don't mind getting muddy!! We stayed in March for 11nts and although the weather wasn't kind for us, we still managed to get out and about. Our only disappointment was that we didn't meet our hosts, Jean or Pam, during our stay, although Jean was accessible via text when we had a couple of questions. Please note, no Wi-Fi available and very limited 4G signal.

Very rural setting, some notes for cyclists

Just returned from this CL. It is as described, peaceful and rural. As cyclists we were heading for the Tissington Trail. It is 100m from the site but the access is not suitable for bikes as it is a footpath with a narrow opening and tree roots and a step down. To access the trail on the level you need to cycle to Hartington Station which is about a mile on steep hills and the busy B road. Not suitable for younger children. If you can take bikes on the car you can park for the day. Enjoyed our stay but thought others need to be aware if arriving with bikes. Please note septic tank requires green fluid not blue. Grey waste is in the corner of the field. TV reception was not brilliant, phone signal ok in places.

Fantastic CL

Stayed here for 6 nights during March 2022 and were really lucky to have a week of exceptionally warm, sunny weather. This is our second visit to the site, the previous being before the hard standings were installed. This really is now an all year round site as having the hard standings and road in place makes access really easy. The site has all the amenities you would expect of a CL with easy access to water, bins and CDP. With beautiful views, easy access to the Tissington trail numerous local walks, superb cycling and numerous places of interest to visit what more could you want. We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful stay on this site and would definitely recommend it to others.

LISTEN TO THE SILENCE

Wow.. The quietest site we have ever been to.. Absolutely no background noise what so ever.. A great little CL.. We stayed for 3 nights in our caravan over August Bank holiday 21. Easy walking access to the Tissington Trail.. Great walk both ways along this old railway line and lovely walks over the fields too if you prefer, The site consists of 5 small hard standings with decent grass around them.. The site has good clean water access ; decent toilet disposal system into the septic tank and grey waste get put in the longer grass at the bottom of the site. Some beautiful villages in the walkable / cycleable locality (Hartington; Tissington) and even more a short drive away such as Ashford In The Water and the small town of Bakewell, We took our 3 dogs and as expected the Tissington Trail was busy but quietened down considerably later on in the afternoon enough to let the dogs walk off lead same on The Monsal Way. Loved our stay here and adored the sound of silence.

What can I say??

We really should keep this little gem of a site to ourselves. Just had a 4 day stay there in weather which could have been better but that's not the sites fault. The site is within easy walking distance of Hartington (lovely village with 2 pubs and a few shops) which is about one mile away(definitely need a torch if going at night). Tissington trail is on the doorstep. Scenery and walking is fantastic and the site facilities are good. Warm welcome and great help when needed from both Richard and Janet. Will definitely be back at some future point, probably in summer, when this site will be glorious. Thanks to both Richard and Janet

Peaceful

We've just had a lovely 3 nights at Whitehouse Farm. Access is easy from the local road network, and the gateway to the site is large and easy to manoeuvre through. The site has 5 hard standing pitches, with drinking water, and waster disposal close by in the same field. The bins are located in a nearby barn. It was good to see that covid secure procedures were in place, including contactless check in, and hand sanitiser at all the water points and bins. The location is ideal in that it's completely peaceful, yet near enough to the road network to be able to travel around. If you want to walk instead the Tissington Trail can be accessed from near the site, along with plenty of other footpaths. We'd happily recommend the site, and will certainly visit again.
