Lovely site

This site has all the facilities and a warm welcome from Shirley. Location is very good for visiting Arundel castle, Chichester and Bognor Regis. We've just come to the end of a very pleasant stay at a very reasonable price.

Absolute peace and tranquility

Lovely site with a really amazing welcome. A level mown park adjoining an amazing wild flower meadow. So many butterflies, bees and as for the birds. We get excited if we see two gold finches on our table at home so to see at least fifty at a time feeding on the thistles only yards from our van was amazing. Sat out at night watching the bats. Definitely a regular future haunt. Thank you.

Peaceful, very friendly site

We stayed for 6 nights in early June, myself and husband and two small dogs. The site was perfect for us, I am very noise conscious, but this site was peaceful during our stay, it's got a beautiful wild meadow opposite the pitches. We were given the choice of hard standing or grass. Everybody on the site was very friendly and Shirley is a most wonderful site owner, only too willing to chat and be helpful. There was only ever 4 units on site during our stay and honestly the electric was absolutely no problem to us, we used all our electric appliances and we never had any issues. It's set well back from the road, minimal road noise, close to everything, days out to the coast or Arundel, marvelous walks on the South Downs! We were sad to leave but we will be re-booking very soon!

Disappointed

The first CL we have not felt comfortable on. It has a right mish mash of unkept areas. 2 permanent vans just off CL but got the feeling there were 2 on the CL that had been there a long time! Number of vans 6. Sorry guess you get what you pay for. Disappointed.

Restful, peaceful and a joy!

Our second visit - booked soon after our first! Thank you Shirley for your lovely site. We love the feeling about the site and a fellow Caravaner said it is strange how calm everyone who stays here seems to be, and how many people return. Sure the electric is something we had to get used to. But come on guys - for £10 a night what do you expect? The Holly Tree pub in Walberton is well worth a visit. They even allow you to make up what you'd like from their menu (unlike The Harvester!)Also any sad souls who, like us, loves £ shops try The Trading Post in Barnham. Good fun and it's huge!

Convenient stopover

We used Winter Egg for a stopover as it is close to the A27 and it was fine. We received a warm welcome and were warned about the low capacity EHU but found it to be perfectly adequate. The pitches are level and mostly hard-standing. Our only negative comment would be that there were 6 other touring vans on site as well as the two permanent vans but there may have been a reason for this and we certainly had enough room. There are a couple of nice pubs nearby and the A27 provides an easy link to Chichester and Arundel.

Wild flower haven

We are frequent visitors to Winteregg and each visit is a joy. With perfectly level and roomy hardstandings plus the choice of grass pitches we are ready for a cuppa within minutes of our arrival. During the spring months we have a lush wild flower meadow to feast our eyes on, while the many well planted shrubs and an old shed provide excellent habitat for goldcrest, finches, swallows etc. The hardworking owner, Shirley is a friendly lady, always ready for a natter. Yes, the lekkie pops off on occasion (a quick flick of the post switch puts this right), but we are all for keeping smashing sites like this within our budget. Recently we discovered two more local gems - within walking distance through a nearby foorpath to Eastergate; The Wilkes Head PH and a meadieval barn. Enjoy!

Motorhomer

Main issue no one has mentioned is low power of electricity, kept cutting out with just trauma heater on 5 (no blowing hot air) and CD player!! Checked with couple in van next door they had same probs. Also had to fill water from bottles as the water tap was enclosed. No trees in leaf to screen off the log cutting company next door & of course no wild flowers. There are various businesses close by to be aware of and chalet type homes & permanent caravans (2) being lived in on site or very close by. Very busy roads not good for walking. Good for visiting local towns & villages. Shirley very welcoming & helpful.

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review. The CL Owner has been in touch as she works really hard to ensure the site is well looked after and that everybody has an enjoyable time when staying here, whilst keeping the CL at a very reasonable price and offering excellent value for money to members. As such she would like to address your concerns raised.

Everyone is advised before booking that the electric is 6 amps so that they are aware before they stay. This is normally sufficient and we are sorry to hear you did not find this was the case. There is a hedge along the boundary but as your stay was in February there were no leaves at the time due to the season. Please note however, the site does not look onto a wood yard, adjacent is another property which is a horticultural nursery with some logs stored. The only other buildings near to the CL Site are the owner's log cabin and an old farm building. There are no wildflowers at this time of year, these come out in May as per the Spring/Summer season. In the colder months the tap has a wooden box around it to stop it from freezing to ensure water is always available on the site. The road that the site is off is a B road with a 40mph limit and the site is set well back from the road. As per previous reviews, people often comment how peaceful and quiet the site is.

There are lots of really good walks in the area as well as many places of interest nearby to visit, please ask the CL owner for further information if needed. We hope this helps address your concerns and thank you again for leaving a review.

Peace

Lovely little site opposite wildflower meadow. Shirley and Snoopy the the dog were very welcoming and she even lent us her binoculars for the week. Easy to visit arundel, Chichester. We did Worthing, pier was good but little else to recommend it. Nearby Littlehampton lovely sea front prom for cycling or  walking and nice cafe called the Lobster Pot. Be aware there is a LOT of traffic and the roads are snarled up a lot esp. The main coastal roads.  We would come back to the site as nothing to fault it, except for us there wasn't that much to do roundabout. But we had a lovely week, met some great people and really enjoyed the peace of the site.
