Most friendly site ever!

Really welcoming and friendly wardens. Clean facilities and plenty of them. Very close to NEC but peaceful and did not feel like it was only just off the motorway. Great farm shop only 5 mins walk away, really good value cafe and very good fresh produce at fantastic prices. Heartily recommend this site, especially the lovely wardens. Thank you 😊

Site easy to get to from M42 and great for dog walking routes

I booked because I could see there would be lots of dog walking opportunities. I found some lovely public footpaths and a good walk to Wythall park. But the toilet block nearest to me was shut, also the washing up facility - bit of a trek to the other one to use. Then Sunday, expecting a nice quiet afternoon after a long morning walk, just had Sunday dinner and relaxing with a glass of wine around 2pm and peace shattered. The warden managed to cut the piece of grass behind my van for over an hour. I'm not sure why they had to go over the bit right behind my van twice, but the Kubota ride on mower was deafening. It was like being on a building site and I needed a nice stay as I was tinnitus (which went crazy with the noise). I noticed they weren't cutting the grass round the larger units with the awnings on the more expensive stay pitches. They were still driving around on it another hour after that, which at least wasn't right behind my van. I was quite angry and distressed - why a Sunday? Remembrance Sunday too? I won't be visiting again, which is a shame. as I'd liked to have visited the transport museum one day.

One of the best

I cannot praise the wardens at chapel lane enough. They are always friendly and helpful. This was really brought home when I was there last week and had a medical emergency in the early hours of the morning. Despite the late hour(2am) they assisted the ambulance crew to get to the correct pitch and then made sure that everything was ok with the motorhome for me. Thank you guys it really helped and I am extremely grateful full for the support and understanding, not many places would go to the lengths you did Andrew

An Excellent Stopover

We have stayed at this site regularly over the last twenty years as my sister lives in Shropshire and we often visit Shropshire, the NEC and go further to the north or Wales on holiday. It is in an excellent position close to the motorway intersections and also good for access to Central Birmingham. We have a motorhome and always look for sites which are accessible and public transport is good. There are also a number of places that you can walk to from the site, including the Transport Museum at Wythal. The pitches are spacious and accessible, and the site is open all year. We have never had a bad stay. The wardens are always helpful and the facilities, although a little dated are always spotlessly clean. Bennett's Farm Shop is also a very good attraction within walking distance.

Great stay near to NEC

We stayed for two nights whilst visiting the NEC for the Caravan & Motorhome Show in October. The site warden was very welcoming and helpful. The site had everything we needed. Easy walk to a really good farm shop at the end of the road. The showers looked a bit dated but actually were very clean and really good hot showers. The pitches were spacious, and service points were close to the pitch we chose. We did not have time to explore the surrounding area, but I did notice a footpath just outside the site. Highly recommend a stay here.

Perfect location

Situated in a quiet village yet only a couple of miles from all major routes into Birmingham and surrounding areas. Very quiet site and immaculately clean. Pitches are level and spacious, plenty of trees but not oppressive. We visit family in the area and this is our regular site for the purpose. Our only complaint is that there is only one motorhome service point in the site, it’s a large site and could do with another.

Always a pleasure!

We often stay overnight on the way up or down the country as it is so conveniently located just off the M42, and roughly half way between home and South Devon. The wardens are always friendly and helpful but more importantly keep the site and facilities immaculate, the dog walking area is handy for quick walks, and you can take a couple of walks from the site. There are supermarket options within a 10 minute drive and an amazing farm shop just around the corner where they offer a discount for club members. Seen some mentions of traffic noise, we've stayed here a fair few times now and have honestly never really noticed any noise from the road. Transport museum next door is well worth a visit if that's your kind of thing too. We never really get a chance to stay longer than a night, but say every time we will book a few nights there and explore more of the area.

Wouldn't stay again

A lot of road noise, noise from children. Lots of work vans, looks like people using it as place to live and noise early in mornings with men going to work in their vans. Buses unreliable, train 30 minutes walk, on strike at our time of staying, staff neglected to inform us of this. Very expensive rates lead us to regretting our choice of site, wanted to leave a day early but no refund would be given.

Campervans beware if you’re planning to use this as a base to visit Birmingham

I phoned the site to check what public transport into Birmingham was like as I already knew that taking a campervan into the city was a sensible option. Lovely lady but was informed that transport to Birmingham was “great” with both buses and train options available. Booked immediately and given that information didn’t struggle to load bikes onto back of van. Got to site and the same lady checked me in. When I asked for a timetable for buses/trains was told not to bother with buses “as they’re not reliable” and that both train stations were over 1.5 miles away. Dragging two teens into Birmingham was hard, dragging them back loaded with stuff including milk/water/dinner was hell. My frustration is that I’d phoned ahead. As a site its lovely, very quiet and incredibly clean. However aside from a takeaway Indian/Chinese there is no local supermarket nearby after 4.00pm, which would have been fine if I’d realised. Agreed this might be my fault, but my perspective was marred by the idea of easy transport into town. In terms of family friendly I didn’t see a play area, but since I have teens I wasn’t looking. Equally there was absolutely nothing for them to do. I know that we’re not the Caravan Club’s target audience but I do feel all sites should be encouraging the younger generation a little more. Wifi was lousy, but equally not helped by the fact that I couldn’t log onto the site’s wifi, despite already having an account. This was not the staff’s fault. In terms of the staff, aside from the misinformation about transport they couldn’t have been more welcoming. Kudos to them all. DONT rely on the shop for anything more than sweets, cake and fizzy drinks. Certainly no veg, nor emergency meals and most frustratingly (after a hard drive there) no wine/alcohol. Also as I’ve said above, nowhere within miles to go and get said stuff in a campervan as the staff where unsure whether there would be suitable parking. If you’re kid free and in a caravan with a car that you can drive into the city or merely staying for a stopover then this campsite is amazing.

Excellent site

A well-cared for, spacious site, with sun and shade to suit everyone. A pleasant, relaxed continental atmosphere.Wardens friendly and efficient, washblocks clean with ample facilities. We only stayed two nights but will visit again and stay longer.
