Beautiful Views, peace and quiet

Stayed twice, I do like this site. Lots of hardstanding, grass pitches are very well maintained, facilities are spotless and well maintained. Regular buses to town and the steam railway is a short walk away. Wardens are friendly and knowledgeable. Stunning views over the race course. As mentioned you do need a long lead on some of the pitches but thats not an issue, just something to be prepared for. Definitely be visiting again.

A real gem of a site

We used this site for a few days whilst we were attending the Cheltenham literary festival and thought it was excellent. Yes, you may need levelling blocks and a long lead to hook up on certain pitches, but we loved the setting with views across the race course to the hills. The shower block is clean and modern, the wardens friendly and Cheltenham is either a 30 minutes walk through a nice suburb or you can get the bus from just outside the site, which runs frequently every day of the week.  This is probably not the site for you if you must have your awning and all its associated paraphenalia around you whilst the kids go off to play, but if like for us, what you want is a  site in a great location within walking distance of a beautiful town which hosts several festivals each year than do give it a go.

Nice view..shame about the facilities!

Stunning views over the racecourse, acres and acres of hardstandings but only one toilet/waste point and facilities block. If you choose a pitch with a view it can be a good long walk dragging the containers to empty them. Hardstandings are in plentiful supply but most seem to have a significant slope. Wardens very pleasant and helpful providing maps of locality (long way to nearest supermarket and diesel). Best FREE Wifi ever! We would use this again as a stopover due to proximity to the M5 but wouldn't want to be there for an extended stay.

Will Return

Only stayed one night on our way south. Will definitely be coming back to stay. Wonderful views over racecourse, pleasant wardens and good facilities for a racecourse site.

Great location

This site is on Cheltenham racecourse and I have stayed here three times. It is a great location if you are visiting Cheltenham, as there are very handy bus stops to take you into the town. The layout is dictated by the location, around one of the racecourse stands, so it feels quite industrial as there is more tarmac and paving than grass. The showers are clean and warm, and everything is well maintained.

Different and Wonderful

The directions to get to the site were great and really reliable. The site itself doesn't look like the typical pretty, green sites of the Caravan Club as it is mostly on hard standing and actually on the race ground but once the surprise of the unusual site has sunk in you realise what a stunning location it is. We parked up right on the fence of the racecourse itself and spent our first evening side by side with a glass of wine enjoying the view right over the race course up to the mountains as the sun set, it was stunning. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the facilities were good and very clean and the wifi was excellent. The Everyman Theatre and Town Centre were only 1.7 miles and a 6 minute drive away, so an easy bike ride or walk away. It was possible to walk right around the outside of the racecourse so a perfect walk for the dogs and we enjoyed a very good evening meal at The Corner Cupboard, Winchcombe which allowed dogs in some of the eating areas. We would love to revisit this site.

enjoyable stay

We are just back from a long weekend stay at this site, and have to say a big thankyou to the wardens for keeping every thing clean and tidy, and for the cheerful way they helped us sort out the pitches etc, we will definitely be back to see more of the area. Thanks

Winner at Cheltenham

We have stayed at this site several times and find it so convenient for the town, either by bus or, as we do, walk.  Always have a friendly reception and would not hesitate to recommend anyone to visit.

Great Views a big surprise,

Although the site is not as other club sites orderly and organised with some outfits located on the racecourse car park the views from the site are amazing and the best we have had all season. We chose a grass pitch and the position we had was amazing, the view across the racecourse to Cleve hill was spectacular and very big so it was pleasant to sit in the caravan and enjoy the vista. The reception was fairly basic but adequate and the amenity block was the same but very clean. Cheltenham and the Cotswolds are easy to get to and you can also catch the local steam train. We live near Chepstow and went as a convenient place to go for something we were doing in the area but have decided we will definitely go back next year for a weekend.

Good views, Good walks, Good location in wet weather

Stayed over the bank holiday weekend as rain was forecast and we thought a mostly tarmacked, inland site would be ideal for a break. Pitches are all around a grandstand and yes maybe looks a bit like a carpark, but you soon get over that. Friendly welcome and info given. Chose a pitch at the front of the stand as we wanted a view. Course and the hills beyond were very picturesque. Lovely walk around the perimeter of the course where we heard the whistle of the steam train that runs from a station at the course. (We did the journey, stopped off at Toddington, on the wet Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed). Half way along the perimeter there is access into the local village and there you will find a friendly pub. The park and ride bus goes from the carpark at rear of site but unfortunately doesnt run on Sunday or bank holiday, so no good on this trip for us :-( Service buses were running tho. A 5 minute walk will get you to the Pittville Pump Room and park. Very impressive and great place for the dog to run. Very interesting walk through this area into the city. Dog walk was a fair way off site but you get used to it. Like most sites it is what you make of it, we like to relax, if possible have a nice view, walk the dog and see new areas of uk. Will return.
