Woodland walks

Great site for woodland walks and the Clumber Park generally. You can walk for miles without the need to drive anywhere. Facilities good on site and friendly wardens. No mobile phone coverage or wi-fi so a getaway from it all place.

Great site in a stunning location

We stayed here during the October half term week for a couple of nights. First impressions as you drive into the country park is.. wow, this is beautiful. The club site itself is up to the usual standards, and once set up on a pitch you are given your pitch fob to operate the barriers, a key to the secure bike storage shed, and a key to the toilet block (I guess to keep kids from playing in there?). Being half term week, the site was completely full busy, and there was a lot of young families staying, which was to be expected. At night, a lot of these young family caravans had lots of flashing lights around them and running up flag poles giving some areas of the site the look of a fun fair. All that said, we stayed up at the far end of the site away from the play area, and this remained quite quiet. This huge country park offers some really lovely walks or cycling through some really lovely forest and country scenery, which is what we came for. We will come back here again (outside of school holidays), as we would love to stay when the site is not so busy. Definitely a site & location we would recommend to anyone, but particularly those with children.

Shame about the Wifi

On the whole we thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay. Beautiful setting and more wildlife than most nature reserves. However there is room for improvement on two fronts. Firstly, as mentioned by other reviewers, the pot holes on the approach need attention. Secondly, the Wifi, for which we paid £10.00 was useless. Despite what appears to be a strong connection it is almost impossible to log in and internet searching failed on every attempt. We discovered on returning home that there are known problems with the Wifi on this site. This raises two questions: why were we not warned when checking in, and why is the Club taking money from its members for a service that they know is not working.

Last trip out of year

Chose Clumber for our last trip out of year (5 night stay) and as usual didn't disappoint. Lovely site and particularly so with the autumn leaves (despite the high wind and rain!!). Wardens as friendly and helpful as always and looking forward to returning early next year.

Good site

Site was kept in usual clean and good condition, however was not impressed by the wardens sunday leaf blowing machine a little excessive extremely noisy and within five minutes the leaves had covered the same position, a little silly considering the trees will be continually shedding the leaves. otherwise nice site

Another Memorable Halloween!

We have been lucky enough to visit this site 4 times, twice coinciding with the Halloween activities.  Our children love it here - as do we!  The biking trails around Clumber Park are fantastic our 6 year old managed a 12 mile circular with us on his bike and I did an 8k run one morning and didn't see a soul!  The Sherwood Pines MTB trails are fab, kids loved the green route and us adults took turns to do the red route which is fun.  The Wifi on site didn't work at all and there is no signal on the mobile phone - there is however a telephone box so that is useful!  The state of the ladies toilets in the mornings was a disgrace and I felt sorry for the wardens having to clean up after some of the disgusting humans we are unfortunate to have in our excellent Club. I have found this at a few of the more popular sites now and think something needs to be done - people need educating I think! The wardens are so friendly and funny and as always the bike lock-up was full to the brim - please can you install upright stands in the first lockup and utilize the central area more - there would be room for many more bikes if this was sorted out.  Overall another fabulous stay and we will be back!

Half term Halloween

Not visited for some years, but not disappointed. Facilities up to club standards, only down side was some members who dedicated in the ladies showers and left it! This renders two showers unusable.  Lots of pleasant walking around the park. Visited Doncaster amazed the selection of fresh fish available on the market and good selection of fruit and vegetables. A nice town. Retford another town that is deceiving as it has a long shopping area with good selection of shops. Halloween night was excellent, think most pitches participated in some way or other. Good seeing all the effort some members put in with some scaretastic displays. Will return again.

Lovely Site shame about the Wifi

This is a fantastic site and we had a great time but the Wifi was non-existent. As there is no telephone signal at this site it it a shame that something can't be done to improve the Wifi.
