One of the best!
This is a superb site and we echo many of the comments given in reviews regarding staff and location.
The site will be very shaded in later spring/summer which would not suit us, so visiting now is perfect if you like the sun (weather permitting). We were very pleased with the quieter pitches upon the upper levels which are also better for sunshine.
The staff are terrific and facilities spotless so well done to them!
We didn’t need the car for our 5 day stay as the walks from the site including access to Coniston are all very good. The west lakeshore walk to Torver and back is super as are the Coppermines valleys routes. If going up the ‘Old Man’ be aware the main ‘tourist’ route is a difficult scramble in places. Best take the slightly longer ‘Goats Water’ route in our opinion.
