Smashing site

Recently visited and very much enjoyed. What a lovely site in a great location. Many thanks to the wardens who were very helpful. As mentioned by another review the steak pie from the mobile chippy was great! We'll be back ????

Excellent location - but choose your pitch carefully

We've just returned from a few days in the Lakes and Coniston Park Coppice is ideally located for the southern lakes area, being just down the road from Coniston village and a few miles from Ambleside. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the facilities excellent; spotlessly clean, warm with loads of hot water. The only problem we had was with the clarity of pitch layout, or rather lack of clarity! The site was quiet when we arrived, maybe only one quarter full, and we chose a pitch in one of the small groupings. We set up, as directed, next to the pitch marker - the adjacent pitch was empty. A couple of days later when we returned from a day out we found we had new neighbours who also had set up next to their pitch marker.  The only problem was that their front window was just a couple of metres from ours - so no adequate fire break there then! We are new to caravanning and no doubt, with experience, we would have spotted the potential problem.  Maybe we were unlucky to choose pitch number 27 but I do think the Club should look at this. By the way, the steak pie from the visiting caterer on Fridays is excellent!

beautiful site

Lovely site and well cared for.  My only gripe is that some staff (not all - most were lovely) were a little bit 'jobsworth'  My husband was sent out of both the reception and loo because he had the dog with him.  In reception he was told it was because there was food in the room next door.  We had just had some lovely food in a cafe in Coniston where the owners treated the dog to a biscuit, so couldnt see sense in that one.  My husband went in to use the loo on the way back from the dogwalk, but again 'no dogs allowed'  Was he supposed to leave the dog unattended and tied up outside? I hope we are considerate and responsible dog owners, but we did feel a bit like naughty children by the manner in which the rules were barked at us.

Brilliant location for walking and time on the water

Stayed for a week at Easter, whilst the site was very busy, it doesn't feel it. Facilities superb, wardens lovely very helpful. Try the Fish and Chip van when it's on-site very good quality. It's a relatively short walk into Coniston where there are a a good choice of pubs, and access to the lake where you can hire Canoes, Rowing boats etc. If you have you own canoe you can launch from the bottom of the site, but remember to bring the car back to the correct place. Great walks around about, and a lovely walk along the side of the lake. You don't really need to move the car. Lovely place we will visit again.

Fantastic Time

Spent 2 weeks over Easter 2015 at Park Coppice - absolutely brilliant! The wardens were all exceptionally helpful, friendly and cheerful at all times. They kept the facilities immaculate. The site seemed to absorb the vast number of outfits and people over the busy Easter period without it ever seeming crowded or noisy. Its location is perfect and we even got great weather. I have been back home 5 days now, and missing the relaxation and total chill-out so much and can't wait to book again soon another holiday there.

Fantastic Family-Friendly Site

This is a fantastic family-friendly site! The wardens are very welcoming and helpful. The facilities are clean and well presented and the location is one of the best in Cumbria. Loads of walks and bike rides on your doorstep and endless exploring for curious and energetic little ones. Well done Caravan Club!!!!!

Excellent site

A great site in a great location for activities in the outdoors. There is plenty of great walking and cycling from the site. The road cycling can get a bit hilly depending upon how far you venture but the cycle around the lake (about 15-20 miles) can be enjoyed many times. All facilities are clean and in excellent order. Friendly helpful wardens. Good pubs in either direction; 1.5 miles to Torver along the footpath on the old railway or through the site and fields to Coniston. We had great weather which always helps. An excellent time

Excellent location

Ideally situated, facilities excellent have to make two points though 1. Avoid pitch 136 as has what appears to be oil and water which never dries!has been reported as of 6/4/15 2. Something really does need to be done about the speed of children on bikes and scooters!
