Had better days

We have just got back from four days her the reception staff although efficient came across very abrupt, the site looked very tired with weeds growing on most pitches. The showers where not at there best would benefit a deep clean. On the up side good position to get in to central London and plenty of wildlife around be careful of the fox always on the look out for left out rubbish bags.

Excellent Location & A Friendly Welcome

Upon arrival we were asked if our journey down went well and had we had a good day. Then we were asked if we were seeing anything in particular in London during our 2 night stay. When I said we were going to Madame Tussauds the lady at reception promptly gave me a leaflet that explained what bus or train we needed to catch, where it would drop us off in central London and what tube we should catch to get to Baker Street where Madame Tussauds is situated! Brilliant! She also explained how the system for payment worked on the buses, which is by Oyster card or credit/debit card via contactless (she told us that only 1 ticket at a time can be purchased with contactless so as to stop any thieves maxing your card if they got it on a further bus - so if there are 2 of you travelling you will need a contactless card each or buy an Oyster card from the newsagent down the road from the bus stop - No3 to Trafalgar Square) the site was very clean, facilities good if a little dated but overall what a brilliant location for sight seeing in London. Also although we did not go there, Crystal Palace town is about a 15 minute walk away with a myriad of pubs and eateries. A REAL SHAME that this site will close in December 2018.

Terrible Customer Service

This site was the worst site we ever visited. We came to this site in the morning, it was before 12 and we were in a hurry so we asked politely if we could check in a bit early. The lady there said no, and said that they weren't supposed to book us in early. "It is the rule, if you don't know the rules then read the rule book!" She shouted. We were astonished by her rude treatment. She told us to leave immediately. I told my son to stay there. I left my son there while we went out of the site. Then, my son saw her let others book into the site before 12. So my son contacted me and told me about it. I came over and asked the lady why she booked other people in before 12. We pointed out that she said that it was the rules and she wouldn't allow us in. She called the manager out. The manager's name was Kay, if I didn't remember it wrongly, and he was mean and rude and told us to leave instead of helping us. They were supposed to help us, as a staff's duty is to help the customer, not argue with the customer. I honestly felt that they were racist, as we were Asians travelling in a campervan around the UK for the first time. They cancelled our booking without our agreement and told us to leave. I couldn't believe how awfully they treated us. I have never received such filthy service and treatment. In addition, we went around to have a look at the pitches and the environment of the Crystal Palace. The toilet was dirty and not well-maintained, all the pitches were small and packed. It was in a terrible condition. I will never visit this site, and advise others not to visit as well.

Comment from the Club

We are sorry to read that you are unhappy with your recent visit to our Site. On the morning of your arrival, there was a high number of departures (33 in total) due out by 12.00pm, which is why we ask people to arrive after 12 noon in order for the team to manage these correctly. When you arrived at approximately 11.00am, the site had already turned away two other early arrivals and subsequently had to turn away a fourth, as there were no available pitches on the site ready. Just before 12 noon, the site was ready for new arrivals, as all guests had departed, and subsequently the staff accepted a new arrival. You would also have been welcome to pitch at this point.

We want to clearly assert that you were not discriminated against on any basis. All our guests are treated equally, as illustrated.

We hope this clears up any confusion.

Don't close!

Fabulous location, very clean, peaceful, but so sad it is closing. We have only just found this site, but apparently it will close in December. We used it in June 2018 and the buses, tube etc were perfect to visit London. The town itself has a Wetherspoon's and a Sainsbury's. Don't close!

First and Last time

Our first visit to this delightful site but sadly the lazt as Bromley Council seemingly cashing in on the location value-just criminal. A great site for visiting London as bus and train links excellent. Local park and town excellent. Amazing wooded site close to suburbia. Facilities up to CAMC standard if ageing a little. Site Wardens more informative than anything on the Internet and Tourist Info. Info Centre the best we have come across. The site organisation and personality should be a template for all CAMC sites as few surpass VISIT BEFORE IT CLOSES as a gem. Next year a quandry for us

Goodby Crystal Palace Club Site

We visited Crystal Palace club site for the last time on Mayday bank holiday. We had fabulous weather and did what we usually do, which is go to the west end on the bus, then to see a show, then have dinner and return on a bus. All seams to work very well which is why we visit this site. Crystal Palace is buzzing with all the shops and restaurants and everything about this site is great. I can't believe this site is closing as its a jewel in the crown for the club, however I'm sure the club would have done what it could to keep it open but alas it's not to be. Tha amount of foreign visitors is always high, so I don't know where they will go in the future. We have had many good weekends there and it's great because we don't use our car. Farewell this lovely site, I dont think the club will find another location as great as this on.

Farewell old friend

We visited Crystal Palace for the last time for the weekend starting the 27 April 2018. This was a thoughtful visit as as much as we were looking forward to ‘Frozen’, a new show in London, we also knew it would be our last visit to the site, last journey on the number 3, and last walk in Crystal Palace grounds. This has been a fabulous place to us over the 10 years or so we have been part of the caravan community. And as it nears its end, it doesn’t fail to disappoint. Excellent facilities and friendly wardens who are totally committed to customer service and to the site. I’m glad we came and enjoyed the space for one last time and are pleased that we were privelidged enough to enjoy this jewel in the crown. Thank you all. Andy and Julie.
