Not as advertised.
Visited 8,9&10 June, left a day early due to the following. The brochure and the local written guidance suggests that site is good for Durham city. It is not stated that a car is a necessity as no cycle access from site. There is a bus stop 800 meters according to the brochure and guidance about how to return to the site from it on the local handout. What it fails to mention is crossing the slip road of the A1M and the dual carriageway of the very fast A690. We know this because we nearly got ourselves run over trying it having returned to the site that way. We had taken an advised dirt path to access the city which turned out to be a 7 mile return walk. We complained and received our money back for the lost day. If you have no car the site is only good for an overnight. No eateries in comfortable walking.
