Brilliant for city visit

We stayed 3 nights during Oct half term, just 2 of us in Motorhome. For a city site it is peaceful, lots of squirrels and yes airport noise but the flights are daytime not during the night and didn't cause us an issue. We went into Edinburgh on the 27 bus £3 ea return one day then to the Royal Yacht Britannia the next on the 16 bus again same cost. The site is very well maintained and very clean, the only reason for me dropping a star was due to site users not respecting others and helping to keep the toilets clean. PLEASE if you send your children into the toilets alone make sure they know how to flush and do so. Its not nice to find them dirty and certainly not fair on the cleaners. Never mind if they wash their hands or not! On the whole excellent site for visiting Edinburgh with very helpful friendly staff.

Excellent site

We enjoyed a great week here over October half term. The is very well located for visiting Edinburgh by bus (number 27 costs £8.50 for a family of 5 for unlimited travel) and bracing walks along the Firth of Forth. The facilities are spotless and the whole site is immaculate. After reading reviews mentioning road and aircraft noise, we deliberately chose a pitch towards the back of the site and did not experience any disruption. There were only two slight negatives (and they are only slight) to report. One was the location of the bus stop. A 15 minute walk was a bit too much for our children after a long day sightseeing in Edinburgh. There is a 'door to door' service from the site but as there are five of us, the price was £24.00 return. There is a disused bus stop close to the site entrance but unfortunately, buses no longer go past it. The other was that the play area was rather basic. I appreciate that members visiting major cities like Edinburgh probably spend more time off the site than on it but it still attracts a good number of children who would make good use of it. In summary though, a great site and we will return.

worth staying

We stayed for one week in December 2014 (and it snowed!!!) Situated at the end of a housing estate on the way to the sea and in the flight path for the airport (so some noise at times) It was still a great site Knowledgeable staff, clean facilities,  chip van visits, can book a taxi (small bus) from the site into Edinburgh at a reasonable price and return back to site close enough to the supermarkets, town, sea and family pubs what a gem

I love Edinburgh!

Stayed for just two nights at this fantastic site, would have loved to have stayed longer. Warden really helpful and welcoming, the first night we chose a pitch along the road, big mistake, lots of road noise, so we moved the next day, it is also on the flight path to Edinburgh Airport, this wasn't really a problem for us as most of the flights are done by 11pm. A great city awaits just 4 miles away, number 27 bus runs every 10 mins about 15 min walk from the site. All in all just a great place to visit, we'll be back!

Almost Perfect

Edinburgh site is a lovely site, very well placed to walk or cycle along the beautiful promenade which gives views of the Forth and the opposite shore.  A walk along the Cramond Riverside is also well worth a look as the Cramond Falls are a beautiful sight in any weather.Access to the city centre is also easy by car or public transport. There is a new Asda very near by as well as a Morrison's for any shopping needed. All the pitches and landscaping are meticulously kept by the site Managers who are always keen to help with anything their guests need. We only have one problem with this "Almost Perfect" site. The Managers keep the shower blocks very clean but can only keep clean the facilities that the Club provides. The showers really do need to be modernised and upgraded. We are used to visiting "no facility" sites so are inclined to use our own shower when visiting Edinburgh site but not every visitor has adequate facilities to use in their units for whatever reason. We know it's difficult on an "open all year" site but we would like to bet that the vast majority of members visiting this site would be happy to manage with 1 shower block whilst the other was being re fitted, maybe during a quiet period. Caravan Club, please help the lovely Managers here at Edinburgh to complete the circle of perfection by improving the shower blocks!!!!Come on members come to the rescue if you feel that an upgrade would really put the icing on this cake!!

Best site by far

Warmly welcomed as usual and despite being autumn the landscaping here is second to none. These Wardens have made a tremendous positive impact on this site. The pitches are immaculate, the hedges trimmed to perfection and the facilities spotlessly clean.  A great impression for our overseas tourists. We only live 18 miles away but love our chill out time here. PLEASE CLONE these Wardens for your other sites.

Great Site

There is so much good about this site; proximity to City Centre, ease of access to public transport, helpfulness of wardens, layout, size of pitches that it seems almost churlish to find something that detracts. But I have to mention the showers – which have plentiful hot water - but are ideal only for those less than 5’6” tall. I’m not the tallest of men, but when I’m looking down on the shower head…….. This small matter (pun intended) aside, I have no doubt we’ll be back.

Great site!

Love being able to explore Edinburgh and a short stroll takes you to the city's great bus service. Could have spent days in Chamber Street museum. Site very very clean and tidy and friendly wardens so helpful. Must get in and book time here next year.
