A great site

This is a clean well run site with helpful and friendly wardens, and it is conveniently located for access to the city of Edinburgh.

Superb for a City Break

This site, which is maintained to a very high standard, is ideally situated for visits to Edinburgh and the surrounding area, there is good walking for you and dogs along the waterside and across to Cramond Island (see the tide tables) there is also a superb (dog friendly) pub in Cramond village. we chose a pitch by the roadside which was a bit noisy during the day but quiet at nights, but next time we will go further back from the road

christmas and new year

we always go back to this site for Christmas and new year, very friendly site, buses run regular, £3;50 all-day and you can use the tram in that price. Also if you use the bus new years eve you can go back in at night, also the buses are free to get you back to the site (only a 6 minute walk) cheaper than the bus that picks you up from the site new years eve £10,always lots to do -walking cycling, sea front and of course the SHOPS for the ladies, German market ok Dec 30 candle lit parade worth going to (but be at the front and not the back has you miss the end ) Only problem last year we had no snow, I would recommend all caravanners and motorhome go Christmas and new year to the site less hassle than being at home plus all the Christmas decoration light up the site and makes it Christmas

week-end break

Decided to have a week-end in Edinburgh so chose the Caravan Club site as we could easily access Edinburgh from the site. Warden on arrival was friendly and helpful. Toilets spotless ,water warm so no complaints about that. Good site to enjoy what Edinburgh has to offer. Only mistake was we had booked a super pitch which we did not require as we were in a motorhome. Directions easy to follow.

Welcoming & Nice Location

We stayed here back in November for 2 nights with our 2 children whom are under 5. We accessed the family bathroom, which has good facilities, however a little on the cold side, however I don't think there is much that could be done about this as it's the building, possibly an increase in draft proofing around the door frame. As we were here in the winter we were all kitted out for the weather, although disappointing not to have a drying room facility. The location is great, there is the walkway alongside the river up to Cramond where you can take bikes etc. The downside is the road that the site is located on has NO streetlights, we had gone to spend the day in Edinburgh using public transport as we are happy walking, however ended walking back in pitch dark from top road where the bus drops you off!! Not great at the best of times, especially not with little ones. Thankfully we had the buggy and the elder one had his bike with flashing wellies!!! We were both using our torches on our mobile phones!! I appreciate that the site does not have control over this but may more people highlighting this could help them build a case for street lighting? The site itself was not very well lit, with some of the lights not working and the lights that were working were not giving out much light. The wardens were very helpful and accommodating, helping to fix boys bike etc - which made one happy little boy!

New Year Break

We arrived on 29 December and left on 2 January to enjoy Hogmanay. Site is easy to find and the facilities are upto the usual high club standards. Electricity supply kept tripping on our first night due to increased load. Wardens did an excellent job of visiting each pitch and providing an update. Site is on the flight path for Edinburgh airport, so is a little noisy. Good minibus service into Edinburgh, but thought this was a little pricey on New Year's Eve at £10/person for a 10 min ride, that was £40 before we even started. Edinburgh is a lovely city with lots to see and do.

Christmas/New Year Break 2014/15

Arrived 22 Dec 2014 and left on 02 Jan 2015. The Wardens were very friendly, helpful and professional and invited us to join them for a drink and nibbles on Christmas Eve and New years Eve which was a very nice touch and well attended. The site is situated near regular Bus services into Edinburgh. Just out the entrance and across the road there are some steps that take you to a very long promenade that is ideal for walking. There was a problem with the site electricity tripping on and off one evening. This was due to the feed and RC not coping with the usage by site occupants and we also lost WiFi for a day. Fortunately the weather warmed up and the problem didn't rear it's head again but clearly to cope with such extreme conditions a bigger feed would be required. It didn't spoil our stay which we thoroughly enjoyed. Supermarkets are nearby.

Nice Christmas break

We stayed for 3 days between Christmas and New Year. Weather was generally good, 2 crisp clear days the third being slightly overcast but still cold. The site has all the usual Club facilities and the wardens were cheerful and friendly. We have only given 4 stars for peace and quiet due to the proximity to Edinburgh airport, the site is below the inbound flightpath so there is some noise during the day time, it didn't bother us but I thought it worth mentioning. At this time of year the site looks particularly nice in the evening, many units having coloured lights and all sorts of decorations inside and out. The only glitch was on our final night the whole site power supply kept failing, it happened about 4 times so we turned our heating onto gas only, the wardens did an excellent job going around the units requesting people do the same. It may be a coincidental failure but after this occurrence the on off switch on our Thetford SES fridge has become inoperable. We spent two days in Edinburgh using the minibus from the site, £5 per person return, leaving every half hour from 9.30 to 11.30am and returning from 4.30 to 6.30pm. We have a motorhome so this is ideal for us, the only down side I can see is that the bus only takes 8 and you can't pre book so get to the stop early! Failing that the bus stop is 10 to 15 minute walk, the fare being £3.00 return or £3.50 for an all day rider. Edinburgh has lots to do, especially at this time of year with the Christmas market. This is our second trip to the area and we discovered parts of Edinburgh that we bypassed on our last visit. The third day was spent walking along the coast of the Firth of Forth up to Cramond and the Cramond Inn for lunch, nice log fire. Overall a good three day break.
