Exebridge Lakeside

We usually stay at Dulverton which is just three miles from this site and this was our first visit. The site was busy, the Covid 19 arrangements were good but we used our own facilities. We pitched on grass in a nice spot, there are some lovely views on this site. There's a very good dog walk but watch out for the Exmoor ticks which seem to be enjoying the warm weather! It's a nice walk through the adjoining lakes to the village and the cost of a day ticket for fishing is £5. The Anchor Inn was serving good food and takeaways, well planned for the new safety rules. We had a riverside seat and a tasty lunch, plenty of space for all. The pub also runs a shop. Check times for pub and shop. There's a local bus service and pleasant riverside walks. It's also possible to follow the Exe Way, either to Dulverton, 3 miles or slightly shorter but steeper to Bampton, 2 miles. We enjoyed our stay!

Our favourite site

Despite the Exmoor weather being a little unkind we had a wonderful time at this glorious site. As usual the site was kept in perfect condition by the site managers Paul and Ann despite being full and with the COVID 19 protocols. You always get a friendly welcome and a helping hand if required. Looking forward to another trip later in the year. Thanks Again

Beautifully Maintained

We have passed this site on many occasions en route to Dulverton CAMC site so we decided it was time to give it a go. Friendly wardens who maintain the site beautifully. Large level terraced pitches - the higher ones offer good views over the surrounding countryside but are close to the main road so can be noisy. Excellent dog walk which is a bonus as there is not much walking straight from the site. There is a permissive path at the back of the site which follows a track through the lakes to the pub and a riverside path. Other than that, walking is very limited as the roads/lanes are quite busy. No shops in walking distance but the pub serves great food. Transport definitely required if you want to get out and about.

Very Enjoyable Stay

We stayed for a week in August and thoroughly enjoyed being on site. It is very well maintained with wonderful views. As all the grass pitches had been closed off the site capacity was only at about 40% during our stay, which made for a very comfortable access to the facilities! It was also a relief to have decent up to date facilities - not a stool in sight - rather than some of the dubious ones we have experienced with the Club this year. Couple of negatives - the tv bollard was broken due, we were told, to a storm the previous week. However no attempt was made to repair it during our stay. The road noise is quite constant and therefore if you want to stay on the higher levels be prepared for that. However the views do tend to compensate. The area has lovely places to explore, but you do need to drive for about half hour along very windy roads to get anywhere. Tarr Steps, Dunster Castle, Porlock Weir, Porlock Hill, Oare (Lorna Doone story), Dunkery Beacon. We will definitely return to this lovely area.

Lovely peaceful site

We stayed here for 2 nights as a stopover on our way to Cornwall. This was our 2nd visit and by chance we picked the exact same pitch as 2017. The views are to die for. We now have a dog and we must say that this site has a really wonderful dog walk area. The wardens should be congratulated as Exebridge is one of the nicest and best kept sites we have had the pleasure of staying at. Everthing spotless. What more could you ask for?

Peaceful site

Good access to the site from the main road. On arrival met by friendly helpful staff. Fantastic views from every pitch . The dogs loved the big field where they could run around or play ball. The walk to the pub was very pleasant as you passed fishing ponds where there were swans and ducks. The pub served good food in delightful surroundings, the best pub garden I have seen. We will be back to this site next year.

Fantastic setting in the middle of nowhere!

This was our second visit here, and it is probably our favourite CMC campsite! The dog walk is enormous, fenced in and safe, and we spent many hours in there with our puppy. The facilities were clean, as always on a CMC site. The drive up from Tiverton is outstanding - along the banks of a river - stunning. We walked to the pub past the lake for a meal - last year it had not been a good experience, but we were told that the management had changed, and it was certainly a tasty meal. We sat outside by the river to eat, which was most pleasant.

Lovely site, lovely location

We have recently returned from a week stay here. We were very lucky as the weather all week was superb but the site itself is lovely. We had a serviced pitch with a beautiful view over the countryside. Very relaxing and peaceful. First time we have visited this part of the country and we thought it was beautiful. Facilities on site were immaculate the whole time we were there and the wardens were helpful and friendly. Very short walk through the site and the lakes to a riverside pub called The Anchor inn which serves great meals. Within easy reach of two National Trust properties plus if you fancy a walk you can get walking directions into Dulverton from the information room. Some great places there for a cream tea or an ice-cream. A great site which we will definately visit again.
