What's not to like

We stayed at this site late September early October 2015 We liked it so much that we decided to return over the Christmas period but it is fully booked Thought about giving a poor review just to discourage others so that there is more chance of a space for us next time We have both canoes and bikes and cannot fit all on the car at once Opted for the canoe this time. A small launch fee gave us access to two lakes and the river Nene Also did plenty of walking and looking forward to bringing the bikes next time Site feels like it is in a forest in the mildly of the country with mature trees and an abundance of wildlife The city is only three miles away though and to avoid any problems we took the bus. Don't do that very often So watersports within five minutes, city centre half an hour by bus, steam train withinf five minutes, marked walks from site, traffic free cycling from site, mobile chip shop on site, two golf clubs within five minutes, pubs within five minutes, cycle hire within five minutes As per the title. What's not to like Oh and the site and facilities were spotless Will we return Tried to for Christmas but fully booked Is our first choice for next summer so hopefully we will get a pitch Highly recomend this site

Great holiday

Had a fabulous time at Ferry Meadows, excellent cycling in the area all off road too, we cycled into Peterborough with ease and you can cycle or walk to your hearts content in Ferry Meadows too, beautiful.

Another perfect holiday

We have stayed at this site many times and at different times of the year. We love it here, as there are so many walks to go on, the majority have all weather paths. The wardens which are in residence now are doing an excellent job, keeping the site lovely and clean and tidy. They are all very friendly and happy. Thankyou.

2 night stay on the way to friends

We stayed here for 2 nights on the drive from Northumberland to Kent. Lovely site, Easy to find, good roads, clean facilities and great staff. A long way from where we live but we are definitely considering a visit next year for longer

We visit often but this is the first time using the east site.

Our six year old and three year old granddaughters live nearby so this is a convenient site for us to come and spend time with them. Previously we've always used the west site which is open all year with its mostly hard standing pitches. (We have been there in the snow!) but this time we used the east site and what a pleasant surprise. It seems bigger with a few hard standings but many more spacious grass pitches scattered among the trees. There seems to be more room and plenty of open grassy space for bike riding practice and tree climbing. The play area is larger and more challenging too. Ferry Meadows country park is right next door as is the Nene Valley Heritage Railway with its steam and diesel trains. You can cycle right into Peterborough city centre with its cathedral along one of the many cycle tracks. The East site is usually closed for winter but we'll be using it again when it re-opens. In the meantime we'll be quite happy to use the West site, both have the usual Caravan Club immaculately clean and well organised facilities.

Revisit

A very swift visit, we use it often as our son lives quite close, just one night. Usual high standard all around. Great location for strolls etc in the country park and steam trains.

September Excursion to Ferry Meadows

Ferry Meadows, a large site on both sides of the road and even outside of School holiday dates was heaving with caravans. Arriving on Saturday proved hard to find a pitch, skill is clearly to take the first one you see as by the time you get back to it, it will be gone...but arriving on Sunday or during the week had a bit more choice. Very clean site and in a great location, the Country park is a 5 minutes walk away. Highlight, sad I know, was the Ice Cream van that visits the site in the evening. Disappointed now when I go other sites and they don't have one !  Very peaceful site despite its size and we were there during the Caravanner of the Year award..ssh can't talk about it...but the hog roast was superb.  TV if you want to watch it was sometimes very good and oddly sometimes patchy even using the hook up on the power tower.  Steam trains run along the back of the site and run into Peterborough if they are running. Expensive way to travel into town but its a tick on the list ...  Would certainly go back.

really lovely site

We stayed here last weekend and absolutely loved the site.  The location is perfect for either a quiet time or there is plenty to do around the area.  The country park is lovely and such a bonus being located right beside the site  We will definitely be back with the grandchildren

Great Time

We visited this site earlier this month and had a great time. We have been before and as usual the site was kept very well with friendly wardens. It is a lovely place in a great setting. With the country park next door it is good for all for walking, cycling, those on mobility scooters etc. There are cafes in the park and plenty for children to do. We will certainly be back.
