Grandsons favourite

Just had a great "Boys Weekend" at Ferry Meadows with my son in law and two grandsons. Its my youngest grandsons favourite site. We took advantage of the 50% discount given by the Nene Valley Railway, on producing the site receipt. Spent a pleasant hour riding on a steam train and going all along the line and back to Peterborough, where we stopped off to do a bit of site seeing, arrived back at F Meadows in time to set up the BBQ(as most others were doing) and enjoy barbie beer and rugby world cup. Brilliant time had by all.

My stay

Very good location, clean toilets, and excellent timings on cleaning facilities. More hard standing areas I feel and less grass ones please

Second 2015 visit......

Another good weekend at Ferry Meadows campsite, Nene Valley walks and a drop of Stella at the local pub. As before, ease of access for the largest of units, typical warm CC welcome and the usual standard of cleanliness. Good for two or four legged walkers, cyclists and steam train enthusiasts. Pitch 90 (west side) was our home for the weekend - great for morning sun only, but water types and eslan a short walk. Only negative is the MWP, drainage cover on the near side and you block the entrance to that particular area of the site if you use it - needs a rethink. However, we are booked in for boxing day as part of our Christmas tour, so yes we highly recommend FM.

Great Site For Everyone

This was a return 4 night visit which turned out to be as good as our last, site is clean and tidy, walking access to the park and lakes easy, you can go for long walks or just a stroll. We will be returning soon for a weeks relaxation. (Great Site)

Lovely for dogs!

We stayed here recently as we were intending to go to an event in Newark which isn't that far up the A1 and a few people had recommended it. We stayed on the East side as we prefer to have a grass pitch.  As we don't have children we avoided the playground area and we weren't bothered by noise at all, even though we were close to the road. I loved the scenery in the park and the lovely walks for the dogs (the dogs enjoyed it too!). Facilities were spotless and there were plenty of showers and toilets. Considering so many people looked at me oddly when I said we were going to Peterborough on holiday, we had a fabulous time! We will be back.

We have been to Ferry Meadow on many occasions and we have enjoyed all of our stays. The staff are excellent and friendley. The site is always immaculate and the other campers very friendley. Love the nearby cycle tracks so that we can ride to Peterborough, Bretton, Alwalton etc. Must be our favourite site. Will be going again soon.

Return trip after 30 years

When the need cropped up for us to visit an old friend in Cambridge, and the website informed us that Cherry Hinton was full, we stayed at Ferry Meadows, having first stayed here about 30 years ago. Glad we did. The scenery and surrounding area is much more suitable to camping, and even with a motorhome, it's not too much trouble to pack up and drive 40 miles to visit our friend. Funny how you get used to living with everything permanently wrapped in bubble-wrap or tea towels to stop them rattling. Everything was up to the usual CC standard, apart from a noisy family that had obviously come here to shout at each other in the awning instead of doing it at home - perhaps giving their neighbours a break. On the day we were leaving, some of the wardens had been telling everyone that it was the day that a heat of Caravanner of the year was being filmed on site, so we asked about staying over a little to watch. Not problem, we were told, and it would keep everyone out of the way as the contestants were filmed driving around. Then the film crew told us, the only two people watching them, that it was all top secret and we hadn't to tell anyone anything or show anyone our photos. As we returned to our motorhome, to leave, at 12:30, one of the wardens was walking round - and told us that we were late and should have left by now. We'll probably return, maybe in another 30 years.

Great for families

We had a great 2 weeks here with our 6 year old granddaughter. She loved the playground . We stayed on the west side which did seem to be a bit better for those with kids . Ferry Meadows park is 5 minutes walk away and its a wonderful place with great playgrounds, lakes, bike paths, cafes and walks. If the weather fails to make life easy peterborough is ten minutes away in the car and its a nice size town with all you could need to keep them amused, swimming pools , cinema and bowling alley (which is about out of town) Also has  a beautiful Gothic cathedral with the tomb of Katherine of Aragon there .  Wardens were great. Facilities clean as ever with CC sites. Plenty nearby including a railway and play farms etc.  All the kids line up for the ice cream man touring the site at 7 every night  and the fish and chip van is there a few nights a week (the fish and chips were ok..not Yorkshire standard, of course, but ok) Great family holiday especially if you like family cycling as its pan flat with miles of well signed bike paths.

What a wonderful site

We had the very good fortune to stay at Ferry Meadows for 6 nights recently. What a truly fantastic site it is. We could fault absolutely nothing at all about the site. It is top notch. The location is amazing, being right in Ferry Meadows which is just beautiful with miles of walks round the lakes. So ideal for dog walking. The wardens were so very friendly and helpful too. Altogether an amazing 6 days.  We will most definitely go back to Ferry meadows.
