nice Site

We stayed on this site from 14.8.15 to 21.8.15 and found it to be a nice quiet, peaceful site which is ideal as a base for touring beautiful Dorset. Public transport around the area is brilliant once you have gone into Swanage. However, it`s not an easy walk up the hill to the bus stop for Swanage, if anyone has difficulty walking and a better option would be the train station just near the site. Only downside to this site, as others have commented, is the fact that the shower block needs to be refurbished.

A Perfect Site

The Wardens of this site should feel very proud. A small site but extremely well kept. Very friendly wardens who obviously care very much about their site and its guests. A good size pitch and we have a double axle caravan. The lane to the site is narrow in places but there are passing places and all the cars we met gave way to us without any fuss. The site is perfectly situated for e plotting this part of Dorset and although it was near the railway it was lovely to hear a steam train go by. The noise of these trains is by no way annoying or very loud. The shower block was kept very clean and the showers were great. I would highly recommend this site yo anyone wanting to tour this part of the county.

Pretty swanage

Arrived for a 6 night stay, we had read the reviews and arrived just after 12 and yes it's a very narrow lane and wouldn't want to meet another caravan coming the other way.  Small friendly site, we felt it needed a bigger shower block for the site, however it was always clean and warm.  Site was about 4 hilly miles to swanage front and I don't do hills on my bike so we went by car to the ferry at stud land and cycled over to Poole, they have cycle lanes and its lovely to view all the fab houses of sandbanks.   We had a lovely day.  Then had three days of constant rain which wasn't so good,  we went to wareham,  had a lovely coffee shop down in the quay.  The wardens are lovely and I was given some great information about the area sadly missing the big market at Wimborne as we were going home.  Thanks for a lovely peaceful stay.

Another visit

We worked out on the way down that this must be our "most visited" site - it's quite near to us (about 2.5 hours) and generally very easy to get to - though not so easy to get in! As ever, friendly warden, nice site (the pitches are a good size, by and large) and we like the "upper deck" ones), and the one toilet block is clean and warm. The dog walk is very convenient too. Nearby Wimborne definitely worth a visit, as are Shell Bay at the far end of Studland (dogs on leads), Knoll Beach (no dogs at this time of year), Bournemouth - just across a very busy ferry; Wareham (we rented a motorboat and had a lovely time); Warbarrow Bay is stunning and the deserted village nearby is picturesque but sad. The Steam train to Corfe/Swanage is a cracker - and Corfe Castle frequently hosts events at weekends which are great fun and particularly suited to children. All in all, and though we had to cut our visit to 3 nights from the planned 4, we had a lovely time - as ever.

Great little site !

From the moment we arrived on site to the time we left we had a wonderful time.  Wardens are very helpful and even though it is a small site the facilities are great and the showers are the best I have encountered on any site. Will definitely be coming back .

child friendly

We're just had 8 days on this site with our grand children and had a great time. This is a lovely site with fantastic views. A field to play football on . We were on a grass pitch which meant that the boys could run around with other children from neighbouring caravans. In our area we had 5 vans which made it feel like a CL and everyone mixed in well .This is a friendly site with 2 great wardens. Next year we hope to go for 3 weeks. Thanks for a great time Maurice and Marisa.

Great for Walking

This is a small, but perfectly adequate site which is beautifully maintained. The toilet block is small as well, but always spotless and works a lot better than many others on the network. From a walkers point of view it is great as you can use the Swanage Steam Railway to link up a whole range of superb walks. It is about a quarter of a mile down the lane, and the warden sells discounted tickets. Unfortunately, it is not unusual for other impatient members to spoil the arrival experience on this site. The approach lane is narrow with small passing places, and on more than one occasion when arriving at about 12.15pm, other outfits are queuing all along the driveway, even out into the lane, blocking it for other traffic. There's a reason here for the 12.00 arrival/departure rule, because you don't want to meet an outfit coming in the opposite direction, which is quite possible as some do like to hang on to the last minute. Because of this, the wardens wisely adhere strictly to the instructions, but sadly some members don't, and even arrive as much as an hour early we are told. Hence the queuing and resulting chaos caused by impatient early arrivals hoping to grab the best pitches. In reality, most of the pitches here are perfectly OK and it's such a pleasant site so you will still have a nice time.

Careless Dog Owners

Arrived on 14th July only to find fresh dog excrement on the side of our grass pitch (42) why do dog owners let this happen ?? I notified the warden and he duly cleaned it up. As to the site itself we have to give it a clean bill of health although the toilet block is looking a little tired.

Best Site in Dorset

We had a very pleasant stay here at Haycraft at the end of June, Toilet block showing its age could do with a refurb, site not big enough as it is not easy to get a booking, how about expanding into the bottom field ? having said that this site is superior to Crossways and Hunters Moon maybe thats why its always so busy.
