Not Sure !

We have just returned from Hillhead and although everything is as it should be, facilities excellent, beautifully kept etc - it just didn't feel particularly friendly. Nothing we could put our finger on, but by the nature of the site, where there are lots of little enclaves to pitch in - it made you feel quite removed from other guests. Saying that, the closeness to Dartmouth and the most wonderful NT house Coleton Fishacre certainly help overcome any negatives we may have. Saying all that, first class site - will we return? Probably not.

Hillhead Caravan Club Site

Hillhead is situated just outside of Brixham, and is on several bus routes. On a fine day, the views are breathtaking, but the site is at an altitude and can be immersed in cloud on a bad day. The site is immaculate with many pitches surrounded by hedges. It is advisable to take advantage of these hedges when selecting your pitch, as the site can be windy.

Delightful Devon

Have just returned from a gorgeous week on this perfect site. Everywhere is spotless and well kept. The wardens are friendly and helpful. The site is ideal for exploring the English Riviera with a bus stop at the entrance with busses at least every 30mins in both directions - one for Kingswear/Dartmouth the other for Brixham or Paignton where any number of buses will take as far a field as Exeter to the east and Plymouth to the west. So good was the service that we only took the car out on one occasion to visit Salcombe/Kingsbridge. There are several National Trust properties with Colerton Fishacre within walking distance (for the energetic) as well as English Heritage sites - Dartmouth and Totnes Castles. All in all a memorable week revisiting old haunts and reliving a honeymoon nearly 51 years ago!

Fabulous site

What a lovely site! Location was a little way out in the country side but there was a bus stop right outside the site, otherwise you would need a car/vehicle. Site was exceptionally well maintained, dog walk in a great location, facilities extremely clean and well serviced. It was peaceful there but wouldn't like to be there when children were about as have been told it is noisy. Staff were very helpful. Only issue is that all facilities closed for two hours from10.30am another toilet open would be useful as queues for the only toilet were annoying. Would definitely return out of season.

Lovely first stay

This was our first trip out in our campervan and to a Caravan club site. It was easy to find in a great location. The staff were really friendly and helpful from the outset. The site was beautiful and the facilities clean and welcoming. If all the sites are as lovely as this I can see us having lots of happy trips.

First visit to Hillhead and shall not be the last!

Although we felt it was expensive, it was the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and the site provides good entertainment.  We loved the site, so clean and tidy.  We enjoyed the Clubhouse facility which is great as buses stop coming back from Brixham just after 7, so going out in the evening is a Taxi trip (if your not interested in moving you Motorhome like us).  The shop is well stocked and not badly priced, fresh bread & pastries in the morning although get there quick!  The Wardens were extremely pleasant and we were grateful that they waited for our pre-warned late arrival 9pm. Great views, nice children's play area and we shall be going back in the Summer when the Pool is open.  Only stayed there for 4 nights but as there is so much more to do, we look forward to our revisit.

1st Time Lucky

We are late joiners to caravanning this was our first trip ever and it was Easter. We found the site clean, staff very friendly and helpful. As we struggled with our awning for the very first time two gentlemen offered help. Even though it was Easter we found it quiet and peaceful. Everything was clean and tidy, seemed to offer good facilities for families. The layout is excellent not everyone in a row. To finish we loved it and will be back in August with our grandson.

Yes!

New to Caravan Clubs and this is the third site we stayed.... Truly beautiful site.... Unsure why people are complaining good sites get full and bad site are empty. We arrived on Thursday (Day before Good Friday) and drove straight onto a hard stand. Toilet blocks were at 50% due to Maintenance (we all know that there was no maintenance and this was to save time in cleaning.... Honest words would have been better). Other than that really enjoyed this site and we will return.
