A sunny weekend just 'up the road'

Hunters Moon is only about 5 or 6 miles from us but it is a easy drive for a couple of days away. When we arrived the site was full. In fact the person ahead of us who hadn't book was turned away. Fearful of getting the pitch nobody wanted imagine our surprise when we had a pitch one down from opposite the facilities - just what we would have chosen. Nice and quiet over the weekend we had a sunny start Friday but cloud most of Saturday when we went to Swanage. Visited the play park on site Friday. Easy departure on the Sunday. We will be back.

Another visit to Dorset

We've been regular visitors to Dorset and in particular around Corfe (we normally stay at Haycraft) but friends of ours were staying here and thus we re-visited after a year or two's break. The site was in very good order overall, the loo blocks spotless, the wardens as good as we all expect them to be, the grass well trimmed and the general ambience in beautiful Autumn sunshine was lovely. Dog walk is fairly convenient and links into a lot of footpaths through the forested area. We didn't visit the Silent Woman pub, though we have done so before and it was dog-friendly then. We thought it odd that there were now 8 or 9 fully-serviced pitches, new since our last visit - but placed right next to the entrance and the main road, which can be a little noisy with some terrifyingly fast traffic on occasion. This whole area is worth a visit anyway - Corfe Castle, Wareham town, Wimborne (an especial favourite), Studland Bay (Shell Beach was clearly designed for family beach holidays!), Warbarrow Bay and the lost village of Tyneham - all make for a lovely short break. If you've not been before, it's definitely worth a visit.

As good as ever

We recently returned to caravanning and the club, we have been to Hunters moon several times in the past, and it's one of our favourite sites, on arrival it was as tidy and well cared for as we remembered it and the toilet blocks spotlessly clean, we choose a hard standing close to the entrance and dog walk, it can get a bit noisy with traffic during the day but is ok over night, our dog who has also been before seemed to remember the dog walk and almost lead us to it, a lovely dog area but sad to say we noticed being abused by a minority of members by not picking up, if I had my way I'd install a camera to catch the culprits and expel them. (moan over) a lovely site we'll be back next year.

good site

The site is located in an open area well away from the nearby town of Wareham, facilities are good, wardens were ok but not that helpful, we asked to stay a further night and were told that the site was full, the next person asked the other warden if they could, stay a further four days over a weekend and were told no trouble.

Very Pleasant Site

Wardens very helpful, clean and tidy site in a pleasant country/forest location but plenty of places to visit within a 10 mile radius, will come again.

A poor reception

As this was our first outing since rejoining the club we were disappointed with a less than welcome reception by the Warden. I asked if it were possible to go on a hard standing pitch and the answer was that I must be joking !  We were sent to a grass field with no water or waste facilities pitches all around us in a state of repair. We were told not to drive on the grass because we would cause damage and all this for the same price as pitches with full facilities !   To top it all the food available in the wardens hut was twice the price of products available in the Supermarkets .  We expect prices to be higher of course but not profiteering !   Following this experience which we hope is unusual we will be considering our position when renewal time comes.

Excellent

A very well run site in a lovely location. Traffic noise could be a problem if you choose to pitch near the road as it is quite busy with a lot of lorry traffic during the day but further down it's not really noticeable. Overall well worth visiting.

ANOTHER LOVELY HOLIDAY AT HUNTER'S MOON.

We have been here before and were more than happy to return. We love the enclosed dog field where the dogs can have a run and the close proximity of Wareham Forest where they can have a longer walk. Wardens are lovely and helpful and friendly. (They put on a McMillan Nurses coffee morning while we were there - it was a great morning, chatting to the wardens and the other guests). The site is tidy and well cared for and the facilities are spotlessly clean. A lovely site. I have put that its good for families, as although we don't have any children (just the dogs!), I could see there was a playpark and a big field that kids could use for playing. It's a great site for visiting Poole, Lulworth (take your walking boots if you are planning the climb to Durdle Door) and Weymouth and various other places on the beautiful Dorset coast. One of our favourite sites.
