Too many pitches

This is small site and whilst near the A303 is quiet.Toilet block seems new and is nice. A lot of hardstanding pitches are narrow amd require you to park your towcar in front of the van (wardens dont allow you to use the grass at the side). The real downside for us was that the club have squeezed far too many pitches in.Some parts are easily mistaken for a car park.On this point we wouldnt come back.if you like a bit of space this site may not be for you. Wardens doing a good job.

Adults ONLY please

I have stayed at this site many times and have found it excellent in all ways bar one. The wardens are pleasant and very helpful and the site is immaculate. WiFi was available on my mobile but really really slow. However the one blight on this site is becausethere is no play area due to the site size (not that this provision is used very often on other sites!) therefore ball games etc and generally being a noisy nuisance always spoil the essence of this site........................peacefulness! This site would be excellent as an adults only and very much appreciated by those I talk to. I would ask the club to consider this as there are other sites on the circuit which, and I will use the word, blighted. Parents seem to be oblivious of the noise factor which doesn't help.

Great Base

This is an excellent little site for peace and quiet, it's an ideal base to explore the three counties of devon somerset and dorset. The wardens Pete and Jill very helpful and friendly. There is a great storage compound which we utilised to leave our unit in for three weeks after our eight day stay at this site, the wardens were helpful in arranging this for us. The grounds are well kept and the shower block is modern and clean. As previous comments there are no local shops in the immediate vicinity, but there are Lidl Aldi and Tesco nearby and Jill keeps a good supply of basics in stock. This is not a site for children as there is no play area, no beaches or play grounds nearby, however there are plenty of other sites suitable for children on the club circuit.

One of my favorites

This is one of my favorite campsites, it isn't too big, which I like, the facilities are always fresh & clean. The wardens Pete & Jill are friendly & extremely helpful. It's easy to find & there's plenty of places to visit if you want, I love it.

Charming Ilminster

We found this to be a really lovely and peaceful site. The wardens were so very helpful and friendly. I suppose the only downside was no wifi, but maybe that is a good thing. We had to move pitch whilst there and the warden was so helpful and moved our van for us which was great. We found it very handy for exploring the area and saw lots, visiting National Trust locations as well as the coast. All in all one of our favourite sites and would definitely return. The cream tea was gorgeous.

Three night stop over

Stayed for three nights early May. Used the site as mid point from Cornwall to Basingstoke. Easy drive to Ilminster and then only two hours each way when we had to travel to Basingstoke for the day. This site is 250 yards from the A303 and as such is a perfect stop over when travelling to the South West. Site is very clean and well kept. wardens friendly and helpful. Taunton is about 15 minutes away and Exeter about 30 minutes. No wifi but all nearby pubs had free internet. A good three nights and we will use this site again.

Relaxing Ilminster

Stayed for a week at end of April, having visited before. Site being maintained and managed to the same high standard. Good touring area. Excellent local pubs with good food at Flintlock in Marsh and the Candlelight Inn in Bishopswood. Access is still an issue as exiting on to the A303 is very tricky. CC should urge the highways authority for more effective hedge trimming and clearer warning signs on the main road of the junction. Little local, or on site, facilities for children, probably contributes to light use of the site. Also, the absence of wifi is a drawback, particularly as caravanners use the facility for touring options and journey planning. A good peaceful site which we will use again.
