Great site

My wife, son, and I stayed here on an extremely wet and windy October weekend, and it was brilliant. We found the site staff friendly and welcoming, facilities immaculate, and the location great for a weekend after work exploring Windermere and going on towards South Lakes Zoo. I would give the nearby pub the Derby Arms a miss for food, we had a dreadful meal on Saturday night and it seems the bad food experience we had isn't a one-off, that said, the drinks were just fine. Overall, we'd stay at Meathop Fell again I'm sure.

Lovely site

We have stayed at Meathop in our Motorhome twice this year. Very friendly and helpful staff. Facilities are immaculate. Peaceful site in a lovely location. The only negative point was the number of barking dogs. Seems to be a growing problem on many sites this year ( and yes we are dog lovers and until her recent passing our Lab went everywhere with us but we ensured she was never a nuisance to other “ campers” ).

One Night Stop Over

We stayed here for one night in are Motor Home, The site was clean and the staff were friendly. The toilet/shower faculties were clean. We stayed on a hard standing level pitch with electric which was large enough for out motor home. We did not have the opportunity to explore further then the the site, so are unable to comment on what was close to the site. .

Endless strimming spoilt our relaxing morning

Lovely site no complaints. However first word of site description is peaceful. Just endured almost 2 hours of noisy strimming followed by leaf blowing. Yes I Know things need maintenance but it should be limited to half an hour per area.

GREAT SITE

Just spent the weekend at this site and absolutely loved it. The toilets etc were spotless, the wardens were lovely, pitches a good size and well spread out, site extremely well maintained, views pretty. Could not fault anything. We will be back for sure.

Great warrens very clean site

First thing to say is the wardens on this site are great nothing is to much trouble and we asked quite a few questions and they where always on hand to help. The location of the site is a good 1hr walk into grange on a busy lane so that is the downside so you need to have your wits about you but if your walking dogs that makes it very tricky, if you have a motorhome and forget something like we did it’s a 6 mile round trip so make sure you have all your food because there is 1 pub next door and they shut at 9 and to be honest it’s not that great. They have added a dog run which was a god send and the views are nice the pitches are big so if you want a nice peaceful couple of days I highly recommend thisi is site.

Perfect site

We booked a week here for our 25th anniversary but had to return home after 3 days unfortunately. We had booked to go to a Wales site the following week, but because we loved Meathop so much we managed to rebook and cancel Wales. We could only manage another 3 days but had a fabulous 3 days in what we consider the perfect location and even had the good fortune to return to the same pitch as the previous week. We were met by Tim who helped us set up on a wet Sunday evening and offered very useful advice to us as newbies to caravanning. We will definitely be back..soon we hope..and can’t recommend enough a site that I think would be hard to beat.

Its not the lakes ! Its the Cumbrian Riveria !

Ok so its only 10 minutes drive to catch the bottom end of Windermere and the landscape is very different to lakeland. That said it has its own feel across the stunning Morecambe bay and even better weather than the cloud catching Lake District. The site itself is the usual CAMC standard and there was nothing to fault the upkeep here. The staff despite being a busy summer school holiday week went out of their way to assist me in getting a large van manovured onto a sloping grass pitch and this was greatly appreciated along with the friendly advice. The shop is well stocked and the recent dog exercising area is well thought of if you have canine furry companions. A part of Cumbria that can easily escape the crowds and eye watering car parking problems of the touristy lakes. The nearby fells may lack the prestige of those in the lakes itself but you will have them to yourself along with stunning views across the sunny bay. Grange-over-sands itself is rather pleasant.
