Lovely site but a couple of niggles!
We stayed for 4 nights in our 6m motorhome. The country road which is a very sharp left from the main A590 roundabout, is tight in places and you need to thrust up the very steep incline. This incline is followed by a another sharp left followed by another steep hill to the entrance of the site.
We arrived a bit early but staff were swift in getting units booked in. Our site map showed quite a few areas were not available so we drove round and picked a pitch with a reasonable view.
The directory did state that there was some sloping but we were surprised just how undulating our pitch was. We tried several parking positions to level out, but it was obvious we’d need our levellers. These didn’t make much difference as not only were we sloping forward but also to the side too! This was not conducive to a goodnight’s sleep as we felt we were going head first to the side of our van.
The site itself is lovely, very well laid out with dry stone walls and lovely views over the bay and beyond. Shower block/toilets were impressive and very clean, however while we were there there was no heating in the showers which was quite chilly!
The country road you drive down to the site, takes about 15 minutes to walk back to the road where there is a concrete bus shelter. From here you can get the excellent X6 bus either into Grange over Sands/Ulverston or cross over the road to get the bus to Kendal.
We enjoyed our stay, it’s made us realise we need higher levellers!
