Our first Club Site visit

We are fist time Motorhomers and we could not have wished for a better start. All the wardens were helpful, ensuring we were ok on our pitch and we were familiar with how everything works, choosing a pitch and the facilities etc. The site was beautiful and peaceful and exceeded our expectations, all facilities were spotless and the information hut a great addition. We enjoyed the area, Grange Over Sands and I train over to Arnside a very pleasant afternoon. We will be back again.

A Great Week

Just returned from a great week here with our Grandkids, site was well kept and looked after, all facilities were very clean. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday they had woodfired pizza van on site. Greta views from a few pitches on site but it is close to Grange over Sands and a lot more in the lower lakes. I recommend that you do not arrive early as you will not be allowed in but you will block the entrance and road to the site, the wardens were very quick at getting people booked in so no worries. Woodland Hotel just up the road from site and the food was good and fresh. Highly recommended.

Disappointed

The heating was off in the shower block which seems to be an reoccurring problem. Also lack of hot water in the showers. Owners with dogs should be given clear instructions on arrival that their dog must be kept on a lead at all times. There was a number of instances of dog mess around the site. Both mornings we woke up to dog mess outside our motorhome which we know was not our puppy. Dog in the laundry room. Sad Because overall lovely location and great staff.

Chilled & Restful

Had 5 nights at Meathop. First time to this site. Family of 3 - 2 adults & our 12 year old Son. Relaxing, quiet site. We didn't use the communal shower block but from what we saw from the rest of the site, very well kept & wardens clearly work hard. Poor signage on exit. We thought we had gone the wrong way...asked a warden & we got told that "everyone makes the same mistake & we get asked a lot where the exit is". If that's the case, sort the signage & Road markings out! Obviously if you know this site well, not an issue. Well placed to drive to nearby towns/villages but other than Grange over Sands, nothing else within easy walking distance. Our Son loved the site for cycling. There is also a small play area that would suit younger kids.

So good, we went again the following weekend!

This is a brilliant site. Great position, immaculately clean, lovely helpful staff and really nice pitches. Some of the pitches are more level than others but nothing major. There is also a great dog walking area where your pet can be let off the lead. You have Grange-over-Sands, Silverdale, Arnside and Cartmel close by so there is plenty to do. If you like walking we highly recommend a walk to Grange and then a train to Arnside where you can just enjoy the tranquility or climb Arnside Knott. We will certainly return quite soon.

Excellent in every way as usual

This is one of our favorite sights, sadly only a short visit to see family not seen for few months. Spotless as usual, we went on newly gravelled area lower terrace of tarmac area. We were really impressed by the little garden display that lite up at night. Not sure if this was club initiative or wardens idea but lovely touch. Hopefully not be long before we are back as only an hour from home.

Great site.

Recently spent a week at Meathop, mixed weather, high winds, rain and sun. Thoroughly enjoyed it, everywhere very well kept thanks to the wardens. Grange is a lovely little town with plenty of small shops and cafes, and a promenade for a good bracing walk. The site office includes a little shop with a good selection of basics which is handy. There are also two little paddocks well fenced for off lead running for dogs. Good place to go.

Lovely Site, helpful staff

We have visited this site before and decided to try out our new Adria Adora Seine caravan on its maiden journey for a 3 night stay. It is always kept beautifully clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and helpful. Its location is everything for us Grange, Bowness, Kendal and Cartmel are not too far away and worth visiting especially the butcher's in Grange the pies are delicious! We had an unexpected and upsetting issue with the caravan on arrival at the site and found Ed the site warden to be very helpful and assisted us to sort the problem out which was promptly attended to the following day by Carnforth Caravans & Transport Ltd who fixed the problem quickly at a very reasonable cost will use for future needs.

We loved it so much, we went again!

We went here on the 14th Feb 2022 and had 2 nights. From getting there to leaving, we loved it. lovely large pitches, lovely, helpful and friendly staff and exceptionally clean and tidy. There is also a very nice dog walking area where your dog can be off the lead, really usefulwhen you have a Springer Spaniel! We enjoyed our stay and the area so much we returned the following weekend for another 2 nights. We recommend a walk into Grange-Over-Sands and then a train to the lovely Arnside for a walk on the beach. The train ride is only 6 minutes but it crosses the Kent Estuary and is very picturesque. We walked up Arnside Knott which gives superb views of the area. Another good walk is the one from Grange to The Hampsfell Hospice, lovely 360 degree views.

Overall we highly recommend this site and staff.

Lovely, peaseful site but a few niggles

We stayed for 4 nights in our 6m motorhome. The country road leading to the site is narrow in places with quite a steep sharp left incline which you have to make a good run at! This is followed by another sharp steep left into the site. The site is lovely and very well laid out with high and low areas, nice views across the bay and a very good information room from where you can borrow DVDs. The shower block is very nice and spotlessly clean, however there was no heating for most of our stay which made for very chilly showers. The directory states sloping pitches but we were surprised just how sloping they were. Despite a our best efforts using our levellers we sloped quite sharply to the front and also sideways as well which didn’t make for comfort. We visited Grange over Sands and Kendal using the excellent X6 bus. This stops at the top of the country road, a 15 minute walk from the site, make sure you have a torch if returning after dark as it is pitch black! We also nipped over to Arnside on the train, a lovely little place with nice walks along the prom, a good chip shop and a couple of nice pubs. We enjoyed our stay but doubt we’d return, and will be purchasing much bigger levellers!
