I doubt it would be helpful to repeat all the good things about this site, especially in relation to its convenience for Melrose, which I and many other reviewers have reported in the past. I hope it may be more helpful if I focus on cycling from the site. (I'll cover running – or walking – in a later review following another visit next month.)
I'll restrict myself to two road cycling routes I cycled during a rather warm four night recent stay.
The first is only 15 miles, albeit with a long uphill at the start, the route for which can be found here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/193596819
For a longer route (39 miles), also with a long uphill near the start, see: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/132635482
Just two suggestions which I hope someone may find helpful.
Excellent site
Just returned from Melrose,we love that you park up and we didn't move the car for several days. All pubs and restaurants we visited are doggy friendly, very important.Site great and wardens very helpful. The only reason for 4 stars, please revamp toilet block, open all year but at some point Caravan Club you will have to seriously consider closing to carry out the work!
Excellent site in Beautiful location
Having just returned from this site it’s a little gem. The site is perfectly located, an easy walk to all the facilities and delights of Melrose right on your door step. Buses stop right outside the site to Jedburgh, Edinburgh and Peebles. The site is small but pitches are a good size, the showers were immaculately clean but as with many of the sites now on the club network could do with updating and refreshing. Many being rather stuck in the 90’s. The wardens were extremely helpful and kept the site spick and span, I look forward to returning again very soon.

Good Site
The site is well kept, hedges cut, grass cut etc. Great location very near the centre of town, bus stop a short walk from site and the bus ride only 9mins to the nearest train station to get to Edinburgh. Wardens very friendly and the site isn’t too big, with enough space between pitches. My only complaint (if I can call it that!) we felt the shower/toilet facilities could be updated. They were clean enough, but needed a bit of tlc. Overall, a great site and would definitely go again.
Fantastic site
First visit and intend to return- fabulous location - Co-op supermarket only a few minutes walk away lovely dog walk on site and amazing walks from site. Melrose is a lovely small town full of independent shops and eateries as well as historic Melrose Abbey ruins and a beautiful walled garden just a few yards away from the entrance to the Abbey. A very relaxing location.
Lovely Site and town
This site is one of the best on the network. The club site handbook states that Melrose is 1 mile away. In fact, the site is in the middle of Melrose, a 2 minute walk from good Co-op and 5 minutes at most from all shops, cafes, pubs and ruined Abbey. Lovely walks along river. I recommend crossing the river by metal bridge to Gatonside, then turning left along the river to main road. After crossing road bridge, take the path leading along the other side of the river to come back into town.
Site has always been well managed with very clean facilities. We visit at least once every year.
Excellent site.
We have just returned from Melrose and the site never fails.Husband and I,with our 2 dogs had a great time.Wardens were ever so helpful and nice. The only reason it was one point of full score, please get toilet block modernised,it is kept very clean but very dated.....come on Caravan Club nightly fees go up each year.....invest in a gem of a site !!!!!!!!!!
Another great stay
One of our favourite sites, and always a pleasure to pitch here. Warmly welcomed by Mark and Janet and they do a magnificent job on keeping the all the site and facilities very tidy and their cheerful walkabouts at the end of the day were very welcomed. The site hasn't altered much recently, but Melrose has, there's more smaller coffee shops and the Trinomtium museum has been enlarged (this may have been done for a while now) it doesn't look much from the outside but is well worth a visit. Must mention the Scotland Heart foundation charity shop which is worth a visit too. The Abbey still has reduced access due to safety work as is Jedburgh and Dryburgh although we were told the latter is fully opening again soon. Lots to visit further afield as well.
Lovely site will be returning
Have just returned from visiting Melrose & this lovely site. What a warm welcome we received on arrival. Short walk to get into the centre of town, Lovely walks, we bought the walks guide from the site shop which was very helpful. The facilities were very clean. Was great to have a well deserved peaceful break. Hope to be back really soon.
Good bus links
In addition to the good info in the other reviews, there are bus stops right outside the site, so I could leave my campervan parked up and take the bus, much more relaxing. A day return to Jedburgh was £8 (full fare) and the trip to Galashiels to see the Great Scotland Tapestry was about £5. This is also the bus up to the train station if you don't fancy the walk. The bus information only seems to be available online, and the stops just have a QR code to scan for details. Buses were every 30 mins on a Friday but hourly on a Saturday.
A great site, as others have commented.
