Brilliant stay, love this site

Had a lovely stay at this site, although it was raining that didn't stop us having a great time and the dog enjoyed his walks along the river and his play on the field as well. It was 4 years ago that we were last there and I forgot how lovely the site was and how very central it was for the shops, bars and restaurants. Looking forward to returning again in the near future

The site managers went above and beyond

I was here a month ago and in that time my mobility due to bone on bone with my hip has resulted in crutches. My parents during their stay asked Maggie if a pitch might be reserved for me close to the facilities. When I arrived the Friday evening after work there was a reserved pitch waiting for me and not only that Maggie handed me a radar key for the disabled facilities making life a lot easier with a bag and crutches. I was embarrassed at 36 to be asking for a pitch near facilities for fear of judgement, I need not have worried. Maggie and her husband are such kind, happy people. Always smiling and make the stay even better. Facilities as always were spotless. Both of them never stop through the day. They really do make your stay enjoyable. It's very much appreciated all you do to enable us to be able to come away and have a break. Thank you very much. Kind regards Jacqueline Dawson

Ideal location

This little site is perfectly placed to explore the area. Right in the middle of the small town its very easy to wander around the shops and cafes. Staff are really nice and cannot do enough for you. Spotlessly clean and easy to access. Can highly recommend this site.

Peaceful haven close to centre of town

Despite a pitch closest to the main town bypass, this was a lovely peaceful stopover on our return home from the Highlands. The facilities are all clean and tidy, with sufficient service points. The Coop is very convenient and the town itself is packed with interesting and characterful places. We had a meal in the garden of the Ship Inn, enjoying good food and great service. We walked around the town to the Abbey and were lucky enough to happen upon the rehearsal of the Melrose Pipe and Drum Band, then we strolled along the banks of the Tweed - a lovely end to our Scottish tour. Cheap petrol on the way south on the A7 at Morrisons Hawick.

Great location.

The site itself is unremarkable being that is fairly small, laid out in rows of hard standing divided by tall hedges & each with its own strip of grass. Some pitches are fully serviced. The facilities block is kept clean & is of a standard that we have come to expect with club sites. What makes this site stand out & probably is why its often difficult to book a pitch is its location on the edge of the pretty little town of Merose , with its Abbey, gardens & shops, cafes etc its a charming way to spend a few days. Kelso is also another lovely small town to visit. The fairly new Coop at the entrance to the site is well stocked & very handy & is open until 10pm. Im sure we will make a return trip.

great location but staff not very friendly

This is a great location right in a small town with good restaurants and interesting shops. easy walks into the countryside. Site itself is quite small, simple and well laid out. Quite a few of the pitches are on slope that is just beyond motorhome ramps (even large one) to level fully, not sure why this is not fixed, caravan will have no issue. This is annoying but liveable unless you have to be level. It is right across from the Melrose rugby club and there are practice fields beside the site. It can be noisy when teams are playing or training. The only downside is the attitude of the staff - they are not friendly which is a shame but this has been the same since we first visited a numbers of years ago. Unfortunately there seems to be an attitude it is a privilege to visit this site and done with some forbearance - very disappointing. Ignore them and enjoy the site.

Lovely Place

The site is quite small but well kept, clean and best of all right on the edge of the town, only a minute's walk away. The town itself is a revelation, an array of lovely shops and cafes and to top it all off, the abbey and country walks. And check out the grandiose, long-closed railway station! We'll be back.

Wonderful site!

We always have an overnight here on our Scottish trip either north or south bound. It is a perfect site, clean, tidy and well kept. Delightful welcoming wardens. Everything in walking distance, dog walk, shops etc. Recommend Burts Hotel for good food.

A great location

Rarely do you find a site so close to a town - Co-op not even a minute away. The most amazing restaurant, Marmions, five minutes away. Lovely shops. And the viaduct, 5 mins drive away is amazing. Enough dog walking local too. The only downer is we fell the Caravan Club are being too draconian about allowing visitors. Not this site’s fault. We know how to manage risk and having a friend for dinner in our MoHo would not affect anyone else. A moan at CAMC not at this site.

As always, excellent, but slightly spoilt by inconsiderate few

Site wardens are excellent and friendly, and the site is superbly located within the town, with equally superb selection of eateries adjacent. The Covid safety provisions were clearly explained, and were very straightforward, with simple rubber band system for accessing toilet block, with very clear signage. Sadly on our stay there were a few who disregarded this, not simply one-off mistakes, but regular offenders, who when challenged, it was clear their misplaced sense of self-importance was matched only by their selfishness and disregard for fellow members. Given the demographic was in the main 55+, the most at risk group, I was somewhat staggered by this. Similar issue with dogs fouling on the grassy area adjacent to our awning. Not had this problem on this site before, so not sure why on this occasion a small number of members were somewhat more inconsiderate than is usual on Club sites. This said, the plusses very much outweigh the negatives, and we will most certainly visit again.
